put it on your finger, let it start reading, then hold down the button for 3 seconds to get into the menu. click the button until you see "beep", hold in the button and it will blink ON to change it to OFF click once, then long press the button once again. after that short press until you get to exit and long press to exit the menu.

you could, I would use it to get an idea of whats going on and if I see anything that looks out of place then check with my doctor..
