Not gonna lie, I was thinking yay, another smells like teen spirit cover. I was pleasantly surprised. This is the best cover of this song ever. It sounded like a mixture of Nirvana, evanescence, and Marilyn manson.

I love the dark nu metal style. It's so badass and I just envision this playing in a movie like the upcoming MCU remake of Blade.
BEST COVER OF THIS SONG EVER. Violet just took this iconic anthem, stripped it to its bones and added a dark, haunting atmospheric spirit to this metal rendition. Incredible.... we can all agree Violet has an Incredible gift. And for this gift I feel blessed....

A proper (re-)interpretation, I say. It's refreshing when an artist has something to add rather than just being able to make the perfect cliché or the original. It did involve adding at least one extra string on the bass(!) but wff do I care - it's de rigueur.

What a trip this is! I kept hearing echoes of Evanescence and Korn and the ghost of Nirvana throughout, yet this is such a unique rendition of a monster classic that I'm not sure the way I describe it does it justice... Once again, I'm blown away, Violet, well done! And kudos to Subsonic Voodoo, that guitar solo was especially haunting!

I grew up in the grunge era with every garage band trying to cover this song. What you did with this song is original, it is melodically brilliant, it is an excellent cover, I can’t fault it. Hot stuff.

There are two different kinds of covers and both are good. I feel like there's a faithful kind of cover that keeps the essence of the original song, and a cover that makes it unique like disturbed's cover of Sound of Silence.

This is one of those fucking covers that are soo good you give like too early and by the end you feel bad cuz it diserves more than one like *sigh* this was GREAT!

As someone who was finishing HS in the middle of "Grunge" this cover feels like it's own creation that is respectful of the original while pulling on it's own leather boots and standing on it's own.

Very true, but it's a compliment to be told you sound like Amy Lee. If she didn't, she wouldn't have as many views bc people are dumbfounded that someone out there has her voice to a "T". I think V knows this and is in all likelihood fine with it. But that's just my opinion.
@@faithcody1771 it may be a compliment the first couple times you hear it but hearing that same "compliment" over and over again for *years* despite evolving massively as an artist and finding your own identity surely it can and will be frustrating to still be compared like that.
I get that, but that's the whole reason she's getting views like she is. That's how I found her myself... A bunch of Amy Lee's fans are amazed and listening bc of that. I've listened to her older stuff now and the newer and to me she still sounds like her. It's just her voice. Nothing's wrong with that! One of the few covers that actually gets close to the same quality and emotion as the original. Changing up the key and the pacing somehow makes it hit hard and feel even grungier than the original grunge without having to drop all the way into the genre musically.
