Taylor's fans need to be studied! Tons of them shared and reposted the video of her entering the studio alone which lead to local fans going to the studio to try get a glimpse of her as she leaves. Yet many content creators who caused this group of fans to flock to the studio want to blame unhinged fans😅

There’s a lot of people, but a very small subset of Taylor’s fans do this and most of us think it’s invasive and rude and, honestly, scary
I remember seeing a video of Beetles fans watching the band walk off of an aircraft. These fans are pretty mellow in comparison. No crying or fainting in the TS crowds.

This is all psych related. We live in a world of parasocial relationships and worship celebrities like gods. She’s no different than a normal person walking down the street. You just like her music. The only time I want to interact with a celebrity is at a concert or while I'm out and about And even then I wouldn't freak out at the celebrity I'd be like oh my God there's this person but I wouldnt to go up to them unless they seemed approachable and open to it. We shouldn't actively seek celebrities and I dont think these fans understand how privacy is such a privilege in this day and age

Id be getting on the mic and using this as a teachable moment. Tell them thank you for coming, but use it as a reflection moment and have them put themselves in her shoes for a moment and think. 1. Why is her attention on them so important? 2. What kind of validation are they looking to receive by being noticed? 3. Do they ALREADY have that power within themselves and they just aren't unlocking it? I bet they do!

I went to her concert, I cheered and danced and enjoyed that time with my niece because that’s the APPROPRIATE time to enjoy that space with your favorite people seeing a favorite musician. I’m confident the girls screaming as she leaves the studio are all underage girls. They don’t have jobs to pay for a Taylor swift concert and their rich parents are too well off to justify blowing 1000+ on a concert for their daughter. So they just stalk her locations so they can still see her because they know they’ll never get into the concert. There’s hundreds of scam websites that will sell you fake Taylor swift tickets, it’s like an epidemic at this point, a girl I work with literally got disowned by her parents because she blew a fund that was left for her by her grandfather. She blew about 4,200 on Taylor swift tickets for her and her two friends 🤦♂️ I have no gripe with Taylor but at a certain point you need to go on live and address your fans and explain to them that they’re too much. I’ve seen a lot of celebrities do it…

So, I’m actually going to be doing that. I’m about to graduate with my first post graduate degree- an honours in theatre and performance. My thesis argued that Lin-Manuel Miranda used Hamilton to launch a new performance methodology where he had interaction with his fandom, decomoditisation of the fandom and democratisation of the fandom through things like the #Ham4Ham lottery and #Eduham and his insistence on keeping control of many of his own social media accounts as a new way of meaning making and communitas that saw Hamilton grow and change in every iteration in small but significant ways. It also had a pretty profound impact on the theatre industry around the world, as ticket lotteries became a normal thing.
Taylor shares so many of the same performative values as Marinda. The way she treasures her fans and makes meaning with us is profound. I would very much like to expand my investigation of elevating the respect and importance of the fandom to the point where they matter as much to the development of art as the initial creators and look at it in this form of Taylor as the most recognised woman in the world, tied with Beyoncé (now the queen is dead) and see how this works with the art that is being made being a different genre and also, undeniably, incomparably more popular then musical theatre. The effect that Taylor has on people is directly linked to her choice to behave the way she does towards both her fans and her detractors. She’s an undeniably decent, caring, kind of goofy person. I was asked in my VIVA about anybody besides Lin-Manuel Miranda who did this for their fans and immediately talked about Taylor amd after getting my grades back, I did well, like, I did really really well. They want me to do my doctorate. I want to do my doctorate as well but there’s a tiny little problem… even if you get a scholarship, the money you get is practically nothing and I have a severe chronic illness. Either I study or I work. They are going to put my rent up again at the end of this year and I won’t be able to pay it if I’m not working! I’m praying to the hamilswift gods that something happens that allows me to say yes and start the doctorate now instead of having to wait for god knows how long!
