I have FS 2002 Professional Edition, which I purchased in 2002. I have a feeling that it Upgraded to 2004 but I'm not sure. It was installed on my old Laptop, which hasn't been working for several years. I now have an ASUS TUF GAMING A15 (Laptop): However, it doesn't have a CD or DVD Drive. Has anyone tried Installing It on an External CD/DVD Drive, and Running It from that ... .. Or would I be better off doing that, and Transferring it to a Memory Stick / Flash Drive ? ps .. Heh, @MicrosoftANZ, Removing CD/DVD Drives from Laptops was an DUMB IDEA !!!

OMFG. Got goosbumps at Fighter Ace 2. This game is one of the few things I remember from when I was 7 years old. I remember I was always trying to touch the ground in this game (you explode when you touch the ground). I was so focused to try and touch the ground doing small precise corrections as I was flying 1 hitbox above the ground. I never knew how the game was called.
this sim is older than i am XD. still have lots of memories of it, spending countless hours infront of my computer, flying around at 11 years old or something like that. I actually started out with FSX but when i tried to reinstall it cause of problems my pc wouldnt complete the install for some weid reason. a friend gifted my his old FS 2002 discs and from then on i played fs 2002. have long moved on to a much more powerful pc running XPlane 12, DCS, and MSFS 2020.
I was 8, don’t even know how I got this game but I remember trying to play it, the struggle was real with the checklist but I don’t know I loved the game

I've been looking for a long time, because I can't find the original for a very long time.
I am definitely looking forward to FS2020. I was sad when Acer studios shut down. These games were a part of my childhood, for sure. It was amazing to see how relatively quickly FS2002 booted up and loaded without too many problems. The game certainly had a unique feel/aesthetic. FS2004 was awesome, too.

I'm about to buy a new computer (Lenovo M93P SFF Computer Desktop PC, Intel Core i7 3.4GHz, 16GB Ram, 512GB M.2 SSD, Wireless Keyboard & Mouse, WiFi, it does not have a DVD/RW drive, would I be able to install my old MS Flight Sim 2000 in it using an external DVD/RW or is there another method?
An external DVD/RW worked for me; you can install a so-called "cracked" EXE that will then run the game without the presence of a disk necessary. Either way, a USB 2.0 or 3.0 connection to an external optical drive has more than enough bitrate to run this old bird.
The game is shipped with not one, but 3 CD-DVD disks. During the installation process. The game is too large to fit on just one, so you need to "swap" disk 1 with disk 2 when it tells you to do so.

I purchased an external USB CD/DVD drive last year to play some older games on my new gaming PC and it worked for those . Worth a shot.
