- Steinberg has long been one of the godfathers of virtual instruments. At long last, they bring us a new version of the acclaimed Halion synthesis and sound design engine. Halion 7 delivers the goods with some fantastic new instruments like FM Lab and the Tales open string guitar. It also contains new advances in spectral synthesis, and a newly designed interface, new tools for sample manipulation and some exciting new effects.

Keep making that music!
I'm very much looking forward to updating from Halion 6 to 7; it will be a great point to start from scratch learning how to use it fully. But that will take a lot of time as well as the pretty reasonable upgrade price. But it's nice to hear how good and usable the presets are. I have a soft spot for the Halion brass samples. The don't sound like real instruments - or like a deep-sampled, dedicated brass library - but they do sound very good to me and are great for trying out ideas.
Yes. It’s a very cool synth and well worth the upgrade price! Really pleased Steinberg give several options for purchase. From a composing viewpoint, it’s just production ready with minimal fuss! :) exactly what we need!
This is a good sampler, it can be used like a rack sampler much easier than kontakt or falcon.
How do HALion 7 orchestral instruments compare with Iconica (Sketch) and if they are similar then why does Steinberg offer both?
Yes, its a powerhouse but you gonna get blind.
The UI is so tiny, its a pain to use it!
How many years gonna take for Steinberg to realize people use 2k and 4k monitors?
Falcon vs Halion 7? :)
Halion every day of the week. Halion is a real workstation, with real sampling/even to actual sample record. Thousands of high quality patches, many derived from Yamaha who own Steinberg, a multitude of synthengines and a crisp and punchy sound all over it.
I own Falcon too, and it's great. But it's more of a synthlab and a sampleplayer/modifier. No real FM engine as in Halion FM Zone/Lab, no sample recording, no "bread and butter" or other soundbanks, no accoustic drumkits, basses and so on unless you buy addons. Falcon is as you know also a host for UVI's other software. But Halion is like having multiple Yamaha Montages if you have the computer power for it.
@@jenslempke7501 Thank you ! Looks like I have to start saving some money :)
Im thinking of getting the crossgrade for Halion having falcon and omnisphere, but it has some stiff competition there, both are incredible, especially Falcon, there isn't much it cant do. Although you might need to buy some of the expansions. Still love it, but i am drawn to halion and have been for a while. Infact i had it downloaded as a demo when it was on version 6 before i went the Falcon route, the convoluted setup put me off. Seems like Steinberg have finally got their act together on that score, took them long enough mind you.
@@garyhendrie4001 I have both as well but Halion is looking as a good option
@@szymona.2726 for now lol
Looks and sounds nice but it doesn't sound brilliant for electronic music.
