I have absolutely no idea what he is talking about (because i know nothing about science) but i was captivated by his amazing enthusiasm and intrigue. 10 / 10 for drawing a simple minded individual like myself into a complex and frustrating (at least for me) topic!

Exciting analysis and questioning of the cement hydration process. If these questions can be answered, there will be amazing opportunities.

    Well explained.
    Very deep and informative.
Can hardly find such stuffs somewhere else.
    Thank you Mr. Ley

Your vids make me want to switch from construction management to something more technical. Great stuff bro!

Hi Tyler! I've started a construction company in India (I'm Norwegian!) and 90% of our work is concrete. Concrete is so complex and so many factors playing in. Its really hard to wrap your head around but I'm bent on studying and going down every rabbit hole so that I can understand as much as possible. Thanks for giving all your time and energy and brain power for making the videos! I'm going to watch every one of them

I find that most videos water stuff down to the point I don't learn anything. this one was dense and rich. like a cheesecake I have to take small bites. very little content like this is accessible without a lot of searching.

How does high shear mixing affect the initial phase of hydration. Does it expose more of the cement particle to the water??

Seems like the surface tension of the water has something to do with it. Kinda like mixing flour and milk. You get lumps but if you mix in fat you can help the milk get drawn into the flour.

Well, best explanation, simple and deep. I'm phd student, part of my study is interpreting the hydration process by using electrical resistivity measurements. During my master degree I was mislead by the coating layer theory during induction perid. Nowadays dissolution precipitation theory is more responsible explanation. During the dissolution period the resistivity reaches its lowest value when ion concentration reaches the supersaturation then during the induction period, or slow reaction period the resistivity starts increasing slightly. So kind of solids precipitating happens on cement grain surface. Is this precipitation due to poorly CSH crystalline or CH formation or both?. Thanks professor
