Engine detailing drives me nuts so use blue painters tape on obvious exposed wiring , plastic grocery bags on the bigger electrical components and I foam cannon the shit out it twice , and then a brush to get anything that’s left. Gently rinse , then use compressed air to dry. VRP @ 10-1 dilution on all plastics and it’s like the day I got the car 🤙🏼

You forgot to clean and re-oil your K&N air filter.
    All jokes aside, great video!!

Didn’t forget. Like I said, it was getting torn down in a couple of days anyway so wasn’t going too crazy 😂

Looks better! I'm better at detailing my cars than actually repairing them, so I appreciate this video. Tire shine actually works well on the plastic and rubber parts.

Yes it does but it also collects dust badly, especially under the hood and you’ll notice a very dirty rag the next time you wipe it down. One chemical guys product I actually like is their interior shine/dressing. It’s water based so it’s not tacky and it’s safe to use under the hood. Don’t have any at the moment!

@@SpeedCultureStudios I may have to give that a try. I like Griots Garage products.

Been following for a few years after i got my g37 and found your exhaust video! As a detailer i love it those are some great tips! I will say dont be scared of water, modern engines are mostly waterproof, dont flood areas or use high pressure or super close. Of course cover air filter if exposed or any inlets you can cover alternator if you like, another great option is a steamer will do wonders with minimal water and with air can stay super safe.
We are working on dropping our own chemical and towel line at the end of summer. I'd love to get some in your hands to see what you think! Super clean is great at cleaning but also pretty aggressive on plastics and rubbers, weve got a great ph balanced APC degresser that would work great in those areas!

I'd still be wary about spraying water in the engine bay. Too many 20 year old electrical parts.

@michaelm3381 detinately have to go in with some finesse but anything early 2000's an up is not really an issue. Older cars ca be a bit trickier but I've been washing engines bays on anything from classics from the 30's to a fully built track cars to brand new 100k vehicles and we use pressure washer or steam on everyone. But I totally understand someone being cautious as we always preach that approach

Yeah, I've had my C5 14 yrs. and had never cleaned it with water. But always wanted to try it, but I was terrified! I did finally use the hose & Simple Green Heavy Duty Cleaner (Purple) diluted. I covered my battery compartment, alternator and air intake with plastic shower caps. I didn't go crazy with brushes like most videos I watched. But it was a huge improvement. And I used air to help remove water in places I might miss. Needed to do a 2nd cleaning, but was scared I was pushing my luck. But it started up no problem. Now I'm trying to get the nerve to do it again, since it's been a few years. I ran across your channel while searching for new C5 content. I subscribed 👍
