I'm going to Canada for my mission and I've lived in Texas all my life, where it never snows! Lol I have no clue how to dress for the extreme cold so this is very helpful!

May I make a suggestion about good walking and hiking shoes? I live and work on a horse farm and I have to have a lot of stability because I carry buckets of water, bags of grain and bales of hay as well as pushing a full wheelbarrow and the best for me in most weather is a good pair of man's basketball sneakers with traditional laces with room for additional insoles. Their heels are wife without being clunky or being inclined to twist your ankle. The laces let you adjust to your feet on each day as they can be variably puffy or sore, although most times I don't have that problem.

Oh, if you are going to an extremely cold place get a full goose down filled parka, which goes halfway down your backside and have a removable down lined hood plus a high collar.
