    Very late to the party here, but I'm in this exact situation. I bought the SB-1000 Pro for my setup and thought that maybe I should have gotten the PB-1000 Pro....so I did.
    Now I'm using both in a dual sub setup, and thanks to your videos, I'm pretty sure I can get them working well together. Keep up the great work, Brad.

      @@sponger04 Found out that it really helps to get a miniDSP 2x4 HD (if you don't have one already) and to gain match, rather than level match. I did what I could with just REW and a UMIK-1, and thought it sounded great. But, I didn't gain match. Instead, I level matched the subs from the MLP, and tried to get the desired combined frequency response using the subs PEQs. This led to the PB1000 being noticeably boomier / louder at times, most likely due to its ability to go down to 17 Hz. After gain matching the subs using a 50 Hz tone, and going through the process of integrating the miniDSP, the subs are working together seamlessly, and bass fills the room evenly. Total game changer.

    I'd recommend the sealed sub to be a 8 to 10 inch(if your mains are 6" or smaller), and the ported to be 12 inch or larger. You will get better sound

    I use a pair of sealed Mirage BPS-400’s which each use a pair of 12” drivers with a 400 watt RMS / 1200 watt peak amplifier (16hz rated) and a pair of SVS PC-29+ which is their older cylinder subs with the Tri ports, 12” driver and 525 watt RMS amplifier. I run the SVS’s with one port sealed and set the subsonic filter to 16hz accordingly. All 4 subs have their onboard crossovers disabled. I took multi point measurements of each sub individually and they both have extremely similar low end extensions luckily. The SVS’s have a bit more extension above 150hz. I let EQ-X set the delay so I use Sub 1 for my front subs (output 1 & 2 on the DSP HD) and than sub 2 from my 6700h goes to input 2 for my rear subs (output 3 & 4). EQ-X does an OK job taming some of the audible peaks but in all reality with no PEQ or FIR filters the in room response was -/+4dB from 22hz to 130hz. I do have bass traps, 1D, 2D and 3D diffusion and a small number of precisely placed absorption panels installed using empirical data from REW. Besides changing all the crossovers on the DSP to a 4th order LR I simply take another series of measurements post Audyssey and apply global EQ to both inputs. It’s given me -/+1.5dB from 18hz to 130hz.

    Awesome content! Bought a sb 3000 then with the intentions of returning it then purchased the pb4000. For the hell of it I played both of them & found the sweet spot with a sub crawl with SB. I was impressed that I could connect the SVS wirelessly. Now I can’t see myself returning the SB. I love the rumble the PB can deliver but I love the punchy bass the SB gives when I’m listening to music. Thank for the tips! See if I can tune and tighten things up a bit! Cheers

    I have a sealed and hon loaded sub in my HT. Wih mini dsp hd it sounds great. Gonna throw a third sub into the mix. I have a SB1000 sealed and a beast of a ported sub (15” DIY). Gonna try the ported sub to see if I can integrate it. If I can’t I’ll put the sb1000 in its place

    If you have the level of the subs at 0, what do you have the main volume set at on the receiver to be able to get 75db on your spl meter?

    Did you use a test tone above port tuning frequency(50/60hz), or pink noise, to gain or level match? HTG suggests using a test tone instead of pink noise and I’m torn on which to do.

    Love your content thank you! Can you tell me what DB resolution you took? It looked like 10db, but my eyes might have failed me. I am also wondering how the crossover setting in the AVR might have affected the results. Most often raising the crossover in the AVR sends the sweep only to the subs and not your other speakers. I have ported and sealed together and have matched,aligned and eq’d with the Mini DSP HD love it! Great advice!

    • @HomeTheaterGamer
      @HomeTheaterGamer  Před 3 lety +2

      @Jim Blair thanks for the comment! I was measuring at 12dBfs in REW if that’s what you’re referring to (I’m still relatively new to REW). I kept the crossover at 80Hz because I really wanted to show the crossover point in measurements, as that is typically an area where there can be a null even with 2 subwoofers. And I definitely will be getting a MiniDSP once I have 2 permanent subwoofers.

    • @jimblair9064
      @jimblair9064 Před 3 lety

      Home Theater Gamer I was referring to the DB resolution yes, and now that I have my readers on I see it was 5db increments.
      I understand that you wanted to observe your crossover point at 80 that makes sense too. Nice job!!

    Great video, thank you! I'm looking at a processor that can run 3 subs FL, C, FR. To pair with that I'm looking at the SVS SB 3000's. I like the idea of the low end extension you get from the ported subs but my ears really prefer the clean accuracy of sealed boxes. So then I thought, can I blend them...? Having watched this video I'm confident I could run 2 sb's and 1 pb sub. With the set up you just created do you foresee any issues with 3 subs? My assumption is that it just adds another layer of frequency to match up...your thoughts?

    I have 3 Klipsch Rw10d... 1 Rw12d and 1 KSW-300 which is a 15. All about the same low frequency being the 15 is 24 hz and the 12 is the same as the 15 in low frequency at 24 hz the 10s are 28hz all are give or take 3 dB. Can I use them all? Would I be best taking out a 10" ? So one side of my room is one 10 and one 12 and the other side is one 10 and one 15.
    Is it OK to mix sizes? And how would you if so? What should I keep and let go? All are RWd subs except the ksw-300... I want to use them and have them already placed but I'm using 4 subs not 5 but I can since I have 3 10s. R10wd.. any help would be great.

    hello i'm audio car, with small interior. i placed the baffles to be nice overall.my lower note is about 55 hertz approximately, and , i'm ok with that. i just added some pressure with the middle basses. with 2 kappa's mid basses 12 push pull and the other is double ported.. ......I ve got an other surround front and back medium one is for the back . they are 16x9 ported. the other is a par of 16 . with one sub witch is closed... just one sub. with a kicker front row. dsp. the mids are cut at 125 htz and the sub at 55 hrtz susonics at 40 -45... hertz. i love the sound it is deep not as low as bigger sub. wich goes 15 hertz . but i'm ok with it... it's approximately 1700 dollar budget. with pionner 7850 bt and with a pair of caps. because i have only D amps.
    the front row is doing the works ok!!thanks kicker. the sub is slo round 10. the 16x9 jbl 's.the tweeter's are dynamics ones for houses. paired with some french baffles. but i misse the real deep low kind of thing. that the only cons. but it's ok . thanks for the show. continue please.

    So basically we want that reading to be as flat as possible? You know I'm such a n00b at this stuff. 😝 I think I understood some of it. But hey ask me about cat behavior. That's where I shine.

    • @HomeTheaterGamer
      @HomeTheaterGamer  Před 3 lety +1

      Yep, flat is what we want for the subwoofers. That means all frequencies are playing at the same volume, making it sound balanced. And any cat questions, I’m coming to you!

    Is that a Cubs shirt??? Den-in, not Den-on. Just as Oppo is Oh-Poh, not Ah-Poh. If you have an issue with the proper pronunciation, talk to the manufacturers lol. Ah-Poh is for opposite field home run, not Oppo the BluRay players.

      Tomato potato.
      And nah, that’s just a shirt my wife got me when she was in Chicago (she’s from there). It’s not a Cubs shirt, though that would be pretty funny as I’m not a sports fan but a huge Back to the Future nerd.
