In this episode of That's Gold, I stumble upon a shocking surprise - an illegal gold dredge hidden away in the wild wild west. Curiosity exploded, and we decide to prospect around the area, grabbing our pans and getting to work. Before long, we strike gold, finding a big gold deposit that blows us away. Come along for the adventure, share in our excitement, and see just how much gold we uncovered! You won't want to miss this incredible discovery.
And in more exciting news we spin the wheel to see what lucky friend of the channel walks away with a half gram paydirt from no other than the famous Mick Hood one of the stars of @VoGusProspecting
I am hoping my smart viewers can put there thinking caps on and help me come up with a plan to go back to the dredge and get the gold, as it is a long and difficult hike in and out!
Tune in to That's Gold, where every glint in the river holds a story waiting to be told!
@ohthatsgold - Zábava
Seeing that the ancient river bed is high up the hill, and the creek is down, i'd probably set up a flying fox. Dig, classify, send a bucket down the flying fox; rinse and repeat. But the fact you say it's a 50 minute hike, and steep out, no matter what you do it's gonna a tough slog. Good luck. I'm now super curious where you are - that old dredge looks awesome and very photogenic.
Thanks mate awesome idea! Thanks for watching I can’t wait to get back there 👍💪👍
Just subscribed, I like it. Pan it, throw the con's in a bucket, rinse, and repeat!
Cheers Andy
Poverty prospecting Australia
Thanks for the sub! I like it Andy I think that’s the best option mate. I subscribed to your channel I’ve got some binging to do 😃💪👍💪
Just an amazing day out there fam 😊. Nice find. Keep on having fun getting that Au and living the dream. Gold Squad Out 🤠
Thanks 👍GS cheers for the support mate!
Find out how that steel monster was taken in and that's your track too.
Gold is as good as you make out it is, I'd take all that was needed and make a hidden fly camp out there staying until it petered out.
Simple, never mind how tough you might think it is its all in the mind.
Thanks Richard 💪💪💪
That’s worth going back for sure! Thanks for the prize too! Was a great surprise. Will email you in the morning! Thanks again and good luck out there
Congratulations Nathan I’m glad you got a surprise mate! You’ll enjoy the paydirt it’s a good one! 🍺🍺🍺
That is awesome man! That dredge is in the same condition the trommel is near my favorite spot... Like you, I can't help but wonder how much gold it saw in it's day!
Hi ATC glad you enjoyed it yes it is they would make a good pair! Imagine that dredge like a giant cookie monster just gobbling up the dirt and gold 😃
I believe you found an old mobile loader used to load trucks etc not dredge. It actually looks like the one in bushland western Sydney near Annangrove/ kenthurst area
Nice work Andrew, they were some nice samples, now you need to get a truck load, good times. Cheers Pete
Thanks Pete haven’t been able to sleep 😂 to excited! I’m planning a trip back there soon thanks for supporting the channel mate I really appreciate it!
Illegal? Just someones idea to limit the access of others to resources that they are too lazy or disinterested to recover themselves. There is ample reason to believe that most of the regulations are completely unnecessary.
Hi thanks for taking the time to write this comment. In Australia every state seems to have different regulations and interpretations. I agree with your sentiment and hope channels like this help educate those that need it, and demonstrates how much fun it is to get outside on an adventure, and just how much as a society we need it! All the best
good take m8 ya gotta luv tha yella
Thanks Phil I’ve got the fever mate cheers for the support
cool video bud, i seen a well used footpath there must be another way into it, i'd take a bucket/pan/classifier/small shovel/ snuffer bottle, also a lightweight sluice if you have one, that's definitely worth travelling for, did you try the buckets on the dredge there could be material in them. thanks for sharing subbed.
Thanks for subscribing! I didn’t mention in the video that is a fire trail that is well and truly locked up a long way away from here, however I’m going to check around for other entrances, I did check the buckets I think other had done this but found some gold below the bucket line. I’m planning a return 😄 thanks for getting in touch, I watched your testing your sluice video 👍and subbed
@@ohthatsgold Thanks mate i look forward to following you on your journeys.
G'day mate, nice gold. Dredging was still legal in NSW in the 90's but the proccess required to operate a dredge made it almost impossible to get a permit it to use one. Most of the dredges operating back in the 90's were around tailings dams or areas where there was no active water courses.
That’s very interesting, thanks so much for letting me know!!! It was the last thing I was expecting to see 😂 would have taken some effort to get in there as well. 👍💪👍
@@ohthatsgold Ooops, I had to do an edit. It should have read "no active water courses". Thanks for the reply.
@@ohthatsgold Not really a lot of effort. It look's like it has tracks and an engine. Probably self propelled.
Great result. Betta get back there I’d say 😀👍🏻
Thanks Lozz! I am pretty keen to get back there and take just what I need nothing more 👍🍺
Great I gather NSW Then I would wheelbarrow a Rocker down the track cheers Glenno
Glenno that’s gold! Definitely that would be the best idea! Right better build a rocker asap!
I have 2 good ones if your able to pickup u can borrow one
That would be awesome ohthatsgold@gmail.com
Great gold for 2 buckets, but a whole lot of effort it looks like! Congrats Nathan! Bloody jealous!!
Gday Lochness the people are screaming out for you to come back on the channel #bringbackLochnessGoldster
the things we find aye mate part of the reason i love going bush
Mate I was thinking about you and thought this is a job for tazy T 😂 with a quad bike loaded up. I didn’t share the leeches on the video but they were out in force as well. You just never know what around the next corner aye 👍💪👍
@@ohthatsgold hehe yeah the leeches mate they luv me no one wants to see the aftermath gore of a big trip that old river bench up the banks worth further exploration
Good work bud
Hi mate thanks for the support I really appreciate it! Hope you are doing really well!!
@@ohthatsgold trying mate I’m trying
You should get one of those light weight foldable wagons. Usually they can hold two full buckets.
Good idea I’m thinking that with a rocker box thanks to some great suggestions. Thanks mate!
Well done Andrew you scared the boots off me when you yelled
At the dredge lol lol lol geezus lol I was hoping for a gram but that’s enough
To entice you back that’s for sure take tent ⛺️ and gear stay for a day or two
Cheers 🍻 congratulations to the winner of Micks pay dirt yeew
Cheers 🍻
CrouchOz
Hahaha 😂🤣😂 I thought it was time for a jump scare don’t worry it gave me a fright when I watched it back lol lol glad you liked it mate thanks for the support drop me an email when you have a minute
Mate that is a huge amount of gold for how little dirt you ran. Bloody well done!
Thanks mate I’m relying on you to be the mine boss and come up with the plan!!!
Was it an 'illegal' practice when the dredge was originally put there?
Phillip that’s a good question certainly at the time the dredge was running it may well of been legal, however from my limited research I can’t see any mining lease registered here. You raise a very good point! Thanks for taking the time to raise it I appreciate it! All the best
We should do a meet up out Sofala would love to meet you
Mate sounds like a plan there’s a few keen to do similar, I will have a meetup later in the year at Oallen and we will give away some gold rat gear and paydirt etc should be fun! Is Sofala easiest for you?
@@ohthatsgold Sofala is closer but I go out with a mate so depends on him his name is Yosemite’s pan
Samuel he’s a good fella we are in a few of the same groups i always give him a like when he comes across my feed he came over from facebook and Tik toc
@@ohthatsgold that’s him send him a message and he can arrange stuff to meet up
Just pan down to a handful of cons and tip in a bucket
@theleadmonstercraw4006 Lead Monster that’s exactly what I was thinking simple but effective, either that or a highbanker (lol just kidding 😂)
Clean up the dredge. Looks like spilled paydirt.
I’ll give it a good clean up 💪👍💪
Don't know why you hiked in there instead of just driving in on the track.
I should of explained that a couple people had similar thoughts, my apologies that’s a fire trail that runs above the creek line which is for emergency vehicles only and well secured. Thanks for asking and cheers for watching.
G'Day Andrew, Hey mate can you truck that dredge to my address? I could use that beast in the Hit & Miss Creek 👍🙃 Great pan of Gold buddy 👍👍 Cheers Kev
Haha 😂🤣 can you imagine that beast in action! Especially at Hit & Miss Creek definitely find some gold 👍
@@ohthatsgold 😅 I wouldn't find enough Gold to pay for the postage stamp.
I'm not seeing enough gold for the hours put in nowhere near enough too much work for that
Thanks mate we will struggle through 👍💪👍
