So, you will run away? That was appalling hearing that lady’s story about her son, it did get to me as I have children as well. Kids now a days are not mentally prepared for anything, they need to know how to stand their ground and defend themselves, not just freeze in fear. You get jumped at least take some with you! Also, there is no discipline at all in kids these days…
Its up to the parents (not the country) to make sure they are ready for the world and any issues they will face in life, stop using excuses like “ why should we, when the country don’t care about us” what you want more money and housing from them,? what did they do to you? How did this country turn its back on you? ot saying All these people get so patriotic, its my country, this my land ect ect well now its going to be time to defend your country and land, they will run and cower away

4), the best 'defense' If running means not taking a beating, maybe ending your life, then run.

I'm going to be homeless in the coming weeks. The council has nothing for me, charities are helpless and just say sorry they can't help. Both my Grand Fathers were gassed in the Somme . They died in their late 40s as a consequence of that gassing. My father & mother were in the RAF during WW2 my father a bomber pilot. All the males in his class either died or mutilated mentally or physically during that conflict.

@@Jamie-uk2zh i have cousins who work in both Russia and Belarus and we regular stay in touch. They are happy enough. Also my company has Uk workers in China and Singapore and they feel very safe. When they get home they always say its like going back in time. Another strange one is one of the neighbours is up sticks and leaving for Qatar. Im assuming its a job transfer. Plenty of places to try out.

As a retired US Army infantryman (22 years service) I have to take up for the British “Squaddie.” The UK Soldiers I trained and deployed with were consummate professionals and hard as coffin nails. I do share your concerns, even here in the US it is becoming increasingly difficult to find decent troops to carry the torch into the future.
I will be welcoming the Russian army as liberators not the enemy.

The thought of a war with Russia terrifies me and should terrify everyone. I don’t want my friends and me to die for no reason other than to make defence contractors billions of pounds. Endless wars, endless money, when are we going to realise it’s all a game and we are the pawns. Woke brigade or no woke brigade, no one wants to die for no reason. I’d rather shake the hand of a blue haired lunatic than a psychopath that’s prepared to send hundreds of thousands of young men to their deaths.

I get emails from the Tory party inviting me to join and attend conferences. I'm a retired bank manager, husband and father but honestly, if Russia invaded today I would shake their hand and would rather go to prison than fight them. The country I was raised in no longer exists - I'm frankly embarassed to be British.

I was brought up in care throughout the 70' & was encouraged to join the army cadets which all the lads did.
There always the annual camp in Aldershot as well during the summer holidays.
Im so grateful for what I learned as a young man going out into the World for the first time.
The experience taught me disaplin & responsibility. I was able to stand on my own two feet; cook, clean & look after myself.

Thank you. I've been expressing my concern that the youth of today may be reluctant to defend our country. It seems contradictory when they've been exposed to a narrative that criticizes the very nation they live in. It's puzzling how those promoting a far-left ideology suddenly expect these individuals to wholeheartedly embrace defending a country they've been conditioned to disapprove of. The British Army is smaller now than the one the German Army laughed at in 1914; the Royal Navy haven't enough men to crew all of their ships, as for the RAF what are they going to do when they have no planes or pilots. This is not to decry the Military as such, but they could do with having a few shillings spent on them. I do agree that conscription would sort out the illegal immigration problem.
The Royal Navy recently put an ad on LinkedIn for the position of a nuclear submarine commander. So, there is still hope.

I joined the Army in the 80’s having been inspired by our hero’s coming back from the Falklands. Street parties galore. Served 8yrs in the infantry. Britain was a different place back then and I was proud. Would I do the same again today ? Not a chance in hell.
So very sad that hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian and Russian men perished in horrific circumstances, fighting for what for who.. Charlie Chaplin was right in his profound speech. Wars are evil and all about following the money. Tragic in 2023 there's still wars, many humans on earth haven't evolved at all. This world is so broken. God bless all the beautiful souls. Hi Paul, being a proud English man living between London & Russia it makes me somewhat sad to see how our country has lost its respect for each other our family the justice system is fucked the nhs is fucked to mention just the obvious. I think the recruitment crisis has a few causes:
- The military housing for families is shockingly bad compared to our nato allies, so retention is terible
- The physical requirements are higher than a lot of other nato allies, I tried to get in about 16 years ago twice but missed the criteria on the day after training for nearly a year to try to meet the cut
- The country has stacked the deck economically against young people, if the country is paying near minimum wage for level 4 engineers while rent is competing with food bills on that why would someone step up for a failing country like that.
Conscription isn't needed and would only ruin the quality of our troops, hell they could just up basic pay to sort the issue.
