  • Throughout a long career that started with hardcore punk and flourished first with Sunny Day Real Estate and then the Foo Fighters, there has really only been one main instrument for melodic yet hard-hitting bassist Nate Mendel-his 1971 Precision Bass. Fender now brings you the Nate Mendel P Bass, modeled after his beloved, battle-hardened instrument.
    Check out this clip of Nate talking about his history with the P Bass, and the process of designing his own Fender signature model. For more product details, visit www.fender.com/....

      @@Aperez06. they were basically the Metallica of 90's-2000's hard rock, they (or rather, their management) couldn't take any chances. Loud, in-your-face guitars that drowned out everything else were the "in" thing for the time.

    its made in Mexico, same as the Marcus Miller, Geddy Lee and the road worn that IMO are among the best basses Fender produce these days.

    obviously you've never heard his basslines that well...the best bassists are not only those who can do solos, but those who can create sick grooves for their band's music. i suggest you try listening to the letterman performances of the foo fighters

    They WERE made in Japan. Now they are made in Mexico. I've had 4 Marcus Miller J-Basses. The one I have now is made in Mexico. It's every bit as good in build quality as the Japan versions I've had... but it sounds BETTER because of the upgraded Electronics. I also have a Japan-made Geddy Lee J-bass. It's a fine bass, but the Mexican version that I played in the local shop is every bit as good. Don't worry about where it's made. Judge the bass once you get it in your hands and ears.

      I’m a little late to the Nate Mendel signature P-Bass. But I just bought one used. It has a Lindy Fralin P-Bass pickup installed in it, instead of the stock SD.

    • @TheOrangization
      @TheOrangization Před 3 lety +2

      This one comes with Seymour Duncan SPB-3 Quarter Pound pickups, which are quite common amongst hard rock, punk and metal players. Nate's original bass probably came with a different pickup when he got it, cause when it was made these Seymours didn't even exist yet

    What amp would you advise pairing with this? I run a Hartke HD150 with a Sterling Stingray right now, but looking to upgrade, maybe to one of these.

  • @christocr
    @christocr Před 11 lety

    And that's fine if it's just a country of origin choice. But I'll bet if you were blindfolded and had my Japanese Geddy and one of the new Mexi Geddy's in your hands and played through the same amp, you'd have a very hard time telling the difference. Personally, the country doesn't matter to me one way or the other as I've had gems and dogs from both places. I just judge by each bass' sound, playability, and workmanship. The Mexi plant basses have been getting better each year (on average).
