0:55 I am. He's endangering his community.
He's a COOL guy
Gol D. Roger how so? He took every precaution he could. He needs to work to live. it’s as simple as that.
The sound of the truck is a sign of normal times, I couldn't agree more.
This video reminds me that it's been a number of years since I've heard an ice cream truck in my area. Now i'm kind of sad. Good to see he's taking proper precautions as well to prevent anyone getting sick.

The sound of the ice cream truck is a relief, a piece of "normal" in this times
Fabs Castellanos Lasttime I saw an ice cream truck was back in the 90’s! I always got the Nick green slime pop! This is such good news to hear!
Fabs Castellanos Indeed!
he's actually serving real soft serve, not the pre packaged crap. good on him!
Who doesn't serve soft serve??
I love the prepackaged stuff!
@@wendysremix ive only had prepackaged in ice cream trucks, my whole life
I Love home made ice cream myself
Whats the point of the ice cream truck then? Just go to the supermarket if you want hard ice cream.
Not only that, he's doing it responsibly with proper PPE to ensure that he doesn't contribute to the spread of this virus to his community. He's a hero and a National Treasure. ✌❤🙏🍄🌈🐛🦋
Doesn't that mean all work can be done as long as we have ppe
TheSellersUnion but the thing is not everyone will wear a mask etc
@@thomassellers6836 have you seen the imbeciles protesting ??
0:55 It's not proper PPE when the mask is covering a person's chin instead of their mouth, and the face shield is angled ABOVE all the spit he's shooting on his customers while trying to talk loudly to them with his slightly lispy voice. I can HEAR the saliva in his words shooting downward on his customer's faces.
Simon Sozzi - He may have the proper PPE but he certainly isn't wearing it correctly. His mask isn't covering his nose and he is at an elevated position handing food down to people in the direct path of any nasal secretions, which can land on their hands which most certainly will touch their face. Add to that, it's the black and brown communities that are being hit the hardest.
This is what childhood is made of- the real soft serve ice cream, not the frozen icicle crap in stores- the memories these children make today will stay with them for the rest of their lives. As somebody who grew up nd lives in new york, the things you see everyday- your childhood and innocence don't last long
Nilay Chaturvedi rocket pops are godly tho
I’ve never seen a ice cream truck before :(
@@jessica2650 I hope you get to buy whatever you want from an ice cream truck one day :)
Agreed, where I live in NY we don’t have icecream trucks but u do get ice cream
The sponge bob ice cream with those disgusting eye ball candy gums lol
Just a day or two ago I was feeling discomfort and stress, I saw the time and decided to wash my hands, put on my mask, and walk outside and waited for the music. 10-20 minutes later I was back in my home relaxing with my Butterscotch Sunday and my discomfort and stress were gone. No doubt an Ice Cream Truck is not as essential as Medical, Water, or Shelter, but we all are going through some stressful times right now and something as simple as waiting to hear a magical jingle and getting/enjoying your favorite frozen treat is more than enough to remove our stress and brighten are day.
Alex Olinkiewicz Yes but is that stress relief worth dying for?
@@Jynxxy13ravedoll There have been a lot of people that sadly end it all cause they couldn't handle the stress. So to some that small bit of stress relief is worth the risk.
Butterscotch is my favorite too (with rainbow sprinkles). I hope that you enjoyed the sundae, and hang in there! This too shall pass.
You need to swap lives with someone in yemen or Syria for a week, and just then you might understand what stress actually is.
This guy is so wholesome❤️
Thanks for all the support
Even in the darkest of hours, ice cream makes everything better

Even in the darkest of times? I would say especially in the darkest of times ice cream brings smiles. Mmmm ice cream

@carolina thanks so much
I live in queens and he’s absolutely right :) I’ve been hearing the ice cream truck recently and the first time i heard it coming down the block i felt my heart flutter. Every day since, i look forward to hearing it. The sounds of emergency vehicles and police sirens can be so jarring sometimes when you stop and think about everything happening around you. Something as simple as ice cream brightens your day in such a difficult time.
😥😢 your comment. i felt that.

If Rita’s is essential, than the ice cream truck is too!
No one exchanging paper money instead of taking credit cards is essential. That filthy money goes through so many hands.

Good morning from the bottom of my heart I would like to thank everyone for there support of funtime frostee. Thanks to NEW YORK TIMES I bring joy to new Yorkers in this time of need. As we are in a crisis I've been selling ice cream in New York City for 26 years and I've brought funtime frostee treats to new Yorkers in many of crisis. I have a obligation to my customers that no matter what the ice cream king funtime frostee will be delivering frostee treat to your doors.
Thanks again for all your support you
We are apart but we are all still together.
God bless everyone
Its nice to know you are doing good and bringing happiness during these times i remember you working for the kool man company a long time ago
THANK YOU! The memories you brought back from my childhood cannot be forgotten, even after 60 years. Seeing the smiles and elation on the faces of the children in the video is a reminder of what's really important. HUMAN JOY at it's best!
Thanks a lot
I found this eerie, cause the Icecream truck in my neighborhood was playing "When the saints start marching in." I was scared...
As long as it wasn't "Swing low, sweet chariot...."
LMAOOOOOOOOOO
😂 😂 😂
On the verge of tears... There has to be some sense of normal not just for the kids but the bigger kids too. Like he said (and one customer) the sounds of sirens comes much too often.
God bless this wholesome ice-cream man! 🍦
Thank you so much
This so cute. People definitely need the magical treat of ice cream.🍦🍨🍧 Hearing an ice cream truck is so magical.🍦🍦
This reminds me of when I was a kid. I used to love the ice cream truck. Great memories. They need to bring alot of things like this back
I love this! I actually know the young girls in the video! I have great joy watch their beautiful face light up with joy!
This will be ah-mazing memory the kids will have!
I'm mad. We never had an ice cream truck like this when I was kid. We had those nasty popsicles. lol.
God bless you! The ice cream truck coming down the street make me feel like we’re going to be ok.
I like what she said, i rather hear tye ice cream truck too if i had to pick between them and sirens🍦vs 🚨
🗣The ice cream man is comminnggg 👐🏼

My grandmother just opened her ice cream stand this week after delaying opening for a few months. We hope we won't be forced to shut down here in Jersey but it's nice to finally be working again and hearing people so excited for us and get their ice cream
I want an essential churros cart :3
Beautiful sight the sound of the ice cream truck turns us all into little children again.
what an awesome person he is making every little kid and adult happy during these times
Great to see. Everyone needs an ice cream !!
Seeing the thumbnail alone brought me joy! Thank you for doing this piece.
If America’s open and he’s allowed to sell ice cream than why not eat ice cream 🍦
Wow, for once a coronavirus related comments section that isn’t filled with arguments, misinformation, and people calling the whole thing a hoax. Gives me a ray of hope.
There is still more than I would like
He's not wearing his mask over his mouth. He's causing more harm than good. 0:55
The Ice Cream Truck is one of the only reasons people like me would step outside during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Aw this guy is so awesome! I’m 25 years old and when I hear the ice cream truck I still get excited. My dad and I still chase the ice cream truck down. You are so cool man still doing your job and cheering people up. Keep up the good work 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you very much
Back in my neighborhood in the 1970's they were, when we heard those musical notes from the ice cream truck all us kids ran to flag it down, i was a fan of Screwballs.🍦
well we are not in the 70s anymore its 2020 and there is a pandemic going on so no this is not essential

What’s a screwball? (honest question!)
This video made me cry, cant live anywhere besides NYC and I've complained about the ice cream truck forever and questioned why during a pandemic I'm hearing it, now I know it's a small gift, instead of sirens I hear the ice cream truck❤️ much love, stay safe
Keep it husltin brother
This made me realize I haven't heard a single ice cream truck jingle since lockdown started.
Not a *single* one.
I miss seeing Mister Softee around.
This man is making sure we get all the things we want and making sure we keep safe... shout-out for him...
Respect to this man. During this chaos, spreading much needed joy to others. Godspeed and good will to you sir!
I would like to thank you kindly from the bottom of my heart
I never saw him change the gloves when handling money. No good!😬😩😩😩
I was conducting a training while working from home and I suddenly heard an ice cream truck. I stopped the training and laughed with the attendees about how it reminded us of what once was..
This video brought tears to my eyes
I really wish I had this in my town, this seems like something to look forward to. This is such a sweet story.
I LOVE New York! ❤🍄🌈🐛🦋❤
I’ve never seen an ice cream truck in my neighborhood until Rona.
Naive me still thinking, how can selling ice-cream be an essential service?
I work in a very small ice cream shop, and I've never felt more needed.. I know many people believe sweets are not needed, and I understand that, but the fact that I can provide a little bit of joy to my customers in these times, and they provide joy to me, has helped keep me going. Everybody is a kid at heart when they have an ice cream cone, and that little bit of happiness I see is everything to me right now. This was wonderful to watch
Dam those sprinkled cones look LEGIT!!!! Two please!
It's so soothing to hear ice cream truck bell.
when he mentioned the fact that ice cream trucks would literally be there for 5 minutes then on to the next one brought back so many memories. hearing the bell, ruunnning to my mom "a dollar a dollar i want ice cream" then running to the truck praying my man didnt leave after 3 minutes lmaoo id just pray there was a crowd of people. i hope he and his employees stay safe in this time. truly selfless what hes doing
@claritza thanks
Hearing the ice cream truck as a kid was like winning the lottery you get to go out side and enjoy your delicious ice cream
How do we know how sanitary those ice cream machines are inside those trucks? Those trucks do not have running water inside.
They havea water tank, soap and a sink if you watch the video you can see them clearly
Oh yes they do know ur facts 1st before speaking
The Ice cream truck is making a come back!!! My kids get excited when they hear the music!!!
great segment ...be safe guys
THANK YOU
I thought the first little boy had a beard for a second! Lmaoo
I’m so glad to see that normalcy in times like this. I bet we all grab to our ice cream ones like never before!
I think my very first ice cream from New-York was from him. I recognize the truck and it’s so heart warming. Loved this dude, also. So patient and funny! ❤️
Thanks and that was me
What a down to earth, good man!
This is wonderful !
That ice cream looks so fire.
Amen. God bless you brother
thank you.
I’ll give it to him. Some people’s access to food might only be the ice cream truck also he’s given these people mental respite.
thankyou next that’s true. When I lived in the hood, our ice cream man use to sell chips, juice, water, pickles and hot sausages (the kind in the jar) it was like a mini corner store. If I had $1.75, and was out playing and got hungry, hearing that music let me know I was about to take the edge off of my hunger, $1.50 for a choc cone w/ choc sprinkles and a .25 bag of chips. I miss those days❤️
Joy in the midst of the storm!
serve ice cream with the same gloves you use to lean on the serving window with...
*Wise and Sanitary*
You are a hero because you make people released from anxiety and fear of uncertainty.
Great video,keep it up!
They dont do ice cream like that anymore
Those tunes from the ice cream truck make me recall many memories. May God care for the driver, and customers as well.
They sure are to these happy kids.Bless them!!!
No, they're definitely not essential.
This man is taking all precautions so why not.
I like hearing that sound it warms my heart.
This man is a legend
Holy carp that ice cream looks amazing.
I didn't expect for this to hit me the way it did... well done. Godfrey seems like a great guy!
@jeremy thank you so much
Man I wish times could be as happy as when you heard this noise coming down the street
Right on!
Bless his heart ❤ absolutely essential.
Vanilla cone with rainbow sprinkles plz 🤣
I so miss that mister softee double cone with sprinkles!
Im in the bronx and I hear the ice cream truck as well and I've seen the ice cream man wear a mask and switch gloves everytime he gives out ice cream to be safe and it brings alot more people when they see how careful he is ❤🙏
We need ice cream trucks like that in California!! I’m so jealous. All we have is pre package crap 🤨
What a beautiful story.
so thats why one passed by my house at 7pm the other night
Coronavirus exists
New Yorkers: let's have some ice cream!
Yes, the ice cream man is essential, especially the gentleman driving this truck. It's everything. He's doing so much good for so many people by coming into their neighborhoods and giving everyone a brief sense of normalcy. He's brave and generous.
I see a potential for cross contamination, he needs a cone holder or something to hand off the cream.
Legend Cox agreed but he’d still have to sanitize it between every customer
Legend - BOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
@@Jynxxy13ravedoll could use a sanitizer bath that is gets returned to like the water baths for ice cream scoops, then keep a towel by for wiping it before the cone gets inserted.
@@tantamountzenith1695 I think he's doing a great job people need ice cream, but it is important for the cream dealer to be procedural in their methods. In hospitals and fast food joints one of the first things they teach you about is cross contamination, the person working the register can't deal with food without first washing hands and changing gloves, the food preparation staff can't interact directly with customers or they have to immediately wash their hands and change gloves. I know from experience a lot of places don't do this properly with every interaction and that can lead to the spread of disease even in normal times.
I hope Godfrey and his staff all the best during these trying times. Hope him and his team are well protected and hope they continue to fight the good fight for NYC.
He made me smile!
Wonderful people !
It sucks my town replaced the ice cream truck with snow cones 😑
Truly touched my heart, no matter what we all love the ice cream truck
To the driver Thank you for doing your part
