I honestly think the LOTR trilogy are the most incredible films ever made. This cast is just so amazing.
they certainly are some of the best. they just masterfully crafted the world and the cast was so damn amazing on screen and off.
Not as good as the Star Wars prequel trilogy.

+kumika123 That's because Robin Williams was a massive geek himself! He named his daughter after Zelda, so while his softer spot was for videogames, he clearly liked that fantasy epic style of storytelling in general (which is what those games attempted to emulate).

You can just hear it when he says that it was just he and the mates and that the "armies" weren't there. Don't quote me on this but heard somewhere that he started crying on set because of it.

He felt pretty miserable during that time that he thought perhaps, it was the time for him to stop acting altogether if he can't cope with these difficulties.

Ian Mckellen is an absolute gem of an actor and person. Probably the best orator I've ever heard in a film
Elijah's Frodo deserved more appreciation. I thought he really did a good work portraying the ringbearer but since there were many great roles and performances in the movies, Frodo had always been overlooked. I'm not his fan but I know Elijah is a very good actor.

This just made me realize how much I miss Robin Williams (as the brilliant actor he was, of course).
I love the movies, characters and everything to do with the Hobbit and LOTR series.
Great stories by Tolkein and Jackson did them justice.

xDream Catcherx The first two movies were pretty good, but the last one was not. I think it's because they filmed all three films in two/two and a half years. I remember hearing Peter Jackson say that he didn't want to do the hobbit based off of how long it would take, and then with some director complications for the new films, he took over. They rushed the films and that's why they aren't as great.
I think PJ said that he only a year before the first movie was scheduled to release, most of the production was on Guillermo del Toro's part, not him. And they decided to stretch the movie into 3 parts, making more $$$ instead of making it as good as the LotR. Then again, Hobbits is a kid's book, so they make it more cheesy while had to bring some 'intense' part because of the success of the LotR.
Ndoelicious That makes loads of sense because he has such passion for the story and such loyalty to the books and the lore, and it tranalates to the screen in LOTR. While The Hobbit on screen just looks like a joke and is very disloyal to the book. So if he wasn't involved as much or didn't have as much creative control that makes tons of sense to me and it's obvious in the films.
I am still baffled how he turned a 300 page book into a trilogy where each movie is about 2 1/2 hours long.

I was stood outside that window watching Sir Ian. I was Year 8 then, and have now just finished Year 13. It was an incredible day. There is still a chair that he sat on with a sign saying “Sir Ian Mckellan sat here” in my old tutor room. He’s a true national treasure.
I was NOT expecting to see Robin sitting there, that really caught me off guard. Thank God for films and recordings, none of us are ever truly gone.

Admittedly, I appreciate it more after I watched the behind the scenes on the extended edition. Some sections still grate on me but it's easier to understand why certain decisions occurred.
