i love this man
been a fan of loud screeching rock since i was a little kid. saw the Bad Brains for their debut appearance in CBGBs in 78...they came out in pin zoot suits. i though, "what the hell these black guys doing here?", as they picked up their instruments for their set after the no name punkish band that came b4 them...this dude did a back flip and all hell broke loose when his heels touched the hardwood floor. It was amaizing! I loved it and I'll never forget it...well, also because i passed out trying to get out of the place (sensory overload!)
...So what if he's a little screwy cause of drugs or whatever! Live on HR!!
It sounds wonderful. I wish I had seen that show.
I think Jim Morrison would be like that if he were still around..
really like the little jam at the end ... felt real again .. hearing all the history in those sounds..... we belong together ... forever.

Actually a sad video of a man who obviously is struggling between the material world and the spiritual. I spent many years with Joseph and the schizophrenic side of him was heartbreaking. He’s not playing here folks. He had slipped many gears during this time

HR is a crzy person, sometimes he speaks like a gay brit, other times like a Jamaican Rastafarian, and others like an american.
more like mental health issues these days...nothing cutting edge about that... bit sad.

Saw HR live a few weeks ago, with a full backup band, and it was great. The newer tune he plays here, he also played at the show and it was AMAZING!
Has HR gotten more crazy over the years or just become enlightened? Who knows and who's to say, I do know there's some fucked up people out there and HR is not one of them, he is a good dude.

I don't think anybody really understands why he is the way he is in this interview. You can look at the comments an tell what he has to deal with from the public. He's almost like the punk scapegoat for homophobia, to this day. Along with people talking about is he crazy or not. Dude knows what he saying an doing, pay attention you might learn something. sashay olay olay!!

HR always liked being a guru of sorts, infusing religion and positivity, into his stage talk. This is a continuation of the same so many years later, except now he's adding a weird twang to his voice for effect. Is it real? Nah, that's why he's laughing.
Today, he's way different when interviewing. He must like going in stages. There was a point in the late 90's/early 2000's when it seemed he wouldn't say a word.

HR is like myself of Jamaican ancestry who has immigrated to England or the United States. Many of us have a mixture of accents of both countries. There are the ignorant who may think that. Black people are suppose to, all sound like a person from the American South laced with country and jive street lingo. It's a sad shame that there are some people think this way. Mindless & extremely ignorant. I don't think that he faking and accent. ONLY MY OPINION.

Bad Brains WERE one of the most powerful,craziest and inspiring bands ever.They still sound tight today, altought Iwouldn't pay to see them.

@@johnnyscifi HR smoked crack and used damn near everything under the sun, he also done a lot of head banging and crazy antics, homelessness. HR has been through the wringer. So it makes sense that he's burnt out and a little off his rocker in his older years. This guy more than paid his dues. He deserves to chill for the rest of his days. HR knows things most don't.

They did NOT start in 77; the Ramones song 'bad brain' was 78, they became the plural of said song/name following that; jus like Black Flag formed that same year. Both bands are considered the pioneers of 'hardcore' but THE 1st group that begat that was Fear in 78.

Wow.. yes multiple p. Awesome performer. I wish him well. I think people with this issue are too spiritual open. Tuning into other realms. And spirits have taken advantage of his vessel or he has let them in. Science will say its from a trauma or mind deteriorating but even they don't have a conclusive answer. But this is my own interpretation of this from studying multiple forms of spiritual disciplines and contact with multiple p. Draw your own conclusion.

hope anyone who thinks about seeing BB live nowadays will see this first. It's the kind of shit you'll see. How the other guys in the band can even play with HR in this condition is beyond me, unless they're this fried as well. Their shows used to be explosive, and the energy....just unbelievable. I understand they've aged, but, the world is full of aging rock stars still trying to cash in on the what they used to be. By the way, weed is not to blame as much as their religiosity.

Oh man...has anybody seen h.r performing with the bad brains lately? He performs like he talks in this interview...just no energy and lazy assed singing. He's the complete opposite of how he was back in the day. It's just weird to see one of the greatest frontmen do a complete 180...oh well we can all still listen to the old records.

Your comment is 4 years old but I'm answering it. Watch the Bad Brains documentary, "A Band in DC." It explains an incident where a homophobic note was left somewhere and people suspect it was HR. That hardly explains it, but it's the gist.
And the Rastafarian shit in general. Don't think they're cool with gays usually.
