Your right on the same lines as my build in a lot of ways. I recently installed a Renogy DC to DC charger. I have an inergy kodiak as well which I use sporadically when I need power away from the camper. I built a custom extension cord with 2 USB outlets and household plugs with a sigma outdoor gang box. Currently upgrading to a 2000w inverter and will run marine triplex wire to the GFC with another high power outlet. Unless I’m in one place for a really long time the alternator can charge a 100ah battery in 2 hours or so. I also plug in the Inergy Kodiak at times when its not connected to solar and the leisure battery is full for additional power. Planning on infrared cooktop for morning coffee and reheating inside the GFC.
Does your wife use the ladder? My wife insisted we buy one and now she won’t use it. Too sketchy. 🤷♂️ Love your rig and love that you do the work yourself. 👍
She does. I mean going from underneath I guess doesn’t have any sketch factor but the ladder is not bad. Both hands going up and down. You only go up and down a handful of times per trip. I make a point to go a couple steps up and pre load the tent with all the stuff (water, snack, phone, chargers, flashlight etc.) before we bother going all the way up. Cuts down on the trips up and down and in and out of the tent. Thanks for checking out the video and yes that’s half the fun for me is doing the work.

Thanks man! Under the rear seat there is a spot where the stock bottle jack goes. I used this void in the foam flooring to install a big rubber grommet. I have a few wires passing from under the truck to the cab through this grommet.
Your set up is looking great. Just watched your newest video, but posting here because it pertains to your solar. I have a 2020 Tundra with a lot of similarities to yours. I'm looking at adding solar to the top of my tent on the cross bars as well. I want it to run my fridge and to keep my AGM battery topped off. Was 200 watts overkill or just enough to do what you did? Wondering if 100wt panel would be enough? I would love to see how you mounted the panels. I'm in the San Diego area as well. My wife and I camp in a lot of the same places as you guys. Thanks Jason
200 for sure. You never get a full 200 out of it. Maybe you know this but you can only count on a max of 80% efficiency with panels. So on a good day I'm happy to get 130-160 watts in full sun. so if you only did a 100 watt system you would only get about 75 watts. So, I would for sure go with 200. Message me on Instagram and maybe we can link up some time or go to a local truck meet up.

@@prospectoverland The Renogy kit I'm looking at comes with 2-100 watt panels, the connectors, 20 ft of cable, 30A charge controller and another 8 ft of cable for the battery connection, plus mounting brackets. Pretty straight forward kit. Pretty good sale price right now. Just need to fab up connecting them to the bars. Thanks for all the info. Just retired from FD, got rid of my Instagram. Haha I'll hit you up when I get the kit if I can't figure out a good way to mount. Thanks appreciate it.
nice build! 2014 crewmax here. Just picked up a dometic 75L. My concern is ventilation for the fridge compressor when its tight in the back of the cab. Doesn't it get hot back there? Also, what do you have the fridge mounted on? Cheers
Hey thanks! I left about a 2-3 inch gap specifically for air. I made a wood platform and use the back seat mount holes to bolt the platform down. Then used fridge tie down straps to secure the fridge to the wooden platform.
I have a EBL 1000W unit and so far so good. Do you leave your small solar panel out when you are hiking? I have a 100W portable panel and I am so worried someone will take it.
I did leave it out when I had this set up for sure. You can always set it on top of your rig flat on the roof so no one sees it and steals it. Just don’t forget to take it off before driving lol. I’ve seen it happen. I have since switched campers and panels etc. just posted a video with the new camper solar set up if that interests you at all.
We prefer the cab because we try and make a point to be outside, cooking, hanging out, having drinks outside etc. It would be a bummer to have to get into the bed of the truck every time. But if you lived somewhere with often bad weather and planned on being sheltered in the camper a lot then maybe truck bed would be more efficient.

I have a extra splitter because I had two panels but if you are only doing one panel these parts will work...
