That was what we call in arabic “ourab” and some call it “irab” and every arab singer does them. Even if u’re not trained or anything of that sort if u can sing u can do it but ofc each person have their own way of singing and they sound different , what she does is really hard though . Her voice and range are INSANE i love how she mixes these techniques that come from different cultures and makes them sound so beautiful. I hope we can see more of her on this channel . Love you alex ❤️❤️❤️

Ok from the other comments it sounds like you've already done a deep dive! Let me give you my full list so you can see if you've missed anything...and please if you have, do a reaction video! :)
      From Citizens:
I Know (lyric video - there are a few live performances but audio quality is mediocre)
Don't Tell Me I'm Pretty (music video or amazon/twitch live stream performance - I really prefer the live version)
So Lie (also the live performance on the Amazon/Twitch stream)
      Anybody Else
      Thick and Thin
      RIP Love
From Stripped - choose “Stripped” versions for vocals:
      Bad Dreams
      Tears of Gold
      Born Without a Heart
      You Don’t Even Know Me
      How It All Works Out
      100 Band-Aids
      Other:
      Minefields (Duet with John Legend)
This Mountain (Acoustic (great!) or Live at Abu Dhabi (almost as good and live/playing piano))
      My Heart's Grave (Official Video)
Puppet (Official Video - don’t miss the Work in Progress version either)
      Habibi (Lyric Video)
      Exothermic (Official Video)
Dust to Diamonds (Lyric video with rapper Rapsody)
      Best Live Single Performances:
      Secrets (Live "Home Performance")
Wake Me When It's Over (Live One Take)
Paparazzi (Live "Cover Nation" Lady Gaga Cover)
Hero (Live One Take - good to hear it live - very different than the pop-y music video)
Elon (after the credits of the “Stripped” concert)
Live Concerts (high quality - in order of my preference):
Abu Dhabi (best overall b/c she plays the piano)
Arab Heritage (best vocally - just singing alongside a piano)
Amazon/Twitch Live Stream (awesome - though quality is not as good and is very casual)
Stripped Live in Concert (still great just none of my favorite versions of her songs are in this performance other than Elon, which is only found there)
Covers (she does amazing covers - really makes them her own):
Set Fire to the Rain (Adele cover)
Hello (Adele cover - she's only like 14!)
Slow Dancing in a Burning Room (John Mayer cover)
Crazy (Gnarls Barkley cover - my favorite version is Live for Arab Heritage but the best vocally is the Deezer Home Session with no video)
      Middle Child (J Cole Cover)
Desert Rose (Sting cover - favorite version: Arab Heritage mini-concert)
      Blue (Eiffel 65 Cover)
      Hung Up (Madonna Cover)
      Loneliness (Birdy Cover)
      Starboy (The Weekend Cover)
Ne Me Quitte Pas (French Cover)
When The Party's Over (Billie Eilish mini cover, two versions, one without a video but both different parts of the song)
LaLaLa (Mini Cover (you could do a few mini covers in one video) - for one more short I'd watch her Puppet Work in Progress video (not a cover but short)

So she grew up in a small, I would even say a tiny central Canadian prairietown (where she learned to be fluent in French and English and by her parents, Arabic) - in a climate like Siberia. So thanks to her parents for letting her pursue her passion, and maybe the endless weeks hiding inside to avoid freezing her patooties off helped her to refine her talents😎

    • @chimchim8078
      @chimchim8078 Před 3 měsíci +1

Moroccans tend to be fluent in French and English as well, mostly French there’s a ton of French everywhere its very much standardised due to colonisation so she would have already gotten French from her parents as well, and English follows wherever the British has step foot so there’s that, that went on, so going to Canada for people of French backgrounds tend to be convenient, idk if she knows Spanish but that’s another popular language in Morocco more on the northern parts closer to Andalusia since Morrocans (moors) used to rule over Spain, so most if not all, moroccans tend to be fluent in 4-5 languages 3 being the very minimum (standard Arabic, Darija, French, is necessary), they are amazigh so while standard Arabic is known, they natively speak Darija which mixes in Arabic with amazigh languages, so other Arabic speakers don’t understand them very well compared to other dialects. Darija stands as it’s own language as well as a form of dialect from Arabic due to how much it’s influenced. Although not as insanely cold as Canada gets, winter seasons do get snowy cold in Morocco.

I LOVE her trills! Faouzia is a legendary unique singer that rivals legends like mariah, whitney celine not with just her talent but with her multicolor background, having 3 musical cultures. Although she can play several instruments, she NEVER had any vocal training! She was I think 18/19 in this video.
Next,I HIGHLY recommend listening to "Bad Dreams", "Desert Rose", "Tears of gold stripped", etc. Usually when she releases a song she also releases a "strip[ped" version of that song where it's just her and a piano...

FOH-ZEE-AH that's how you pronounce this fabulously talented singer-songwriter from Canada ! Moroccan born and raised in Canada Faouzia is the real deal ! Speaks three languages, plays three instruments and is just completing her engineering degree at University ! Beauty, brains and talent are a trio of truths that we know as Faouzia ! Powerful singer who can seamlessly access all her vocal registers so effortlessly plus her arabic vibrato make her so unique to listen to ! Great lyrical writer whose songs resonate and relate with her audience ! Just completed her first successful tour of Europe and North America last year ! Although she played in smaller venues her following is starting to gain tremendous recognition ! Sadly in her own country of Canada she is not too well known ! But she is on the rise to stardom ,there's too much talent and it's just a matter of time for sure ! I'm so very happy you and your listeners enjoyed this great performance ! Faouzia's stripped down versions of her music are the backbone of her amazing talent ! Just a piano and her voice is about all you need to witness her talent ! She has quite a few songs on You Tube and her channel ! Her videos are really upscale and visually and musically fantastic too ! I would suggest her song "Tears of Gold " stripped version not her pandemic concert version ; both are great but I prefer the sit down version with her and piano backing ! It's a mind blowing and riveting performance ! Thank you for the tremendous reaction and I hope you react to many more of Faouzia's music you will not be disappointed for sure ! Sending you much thanks and love from Canada ! 👍🇨🇦🇨🇦❤️❤️❤️

This is what I call a pure soul reaction. Thank you. Faouzia sings directly to people that have a soul that can recognize beauty, divine, and excellence. We are all gifted with something, little or big, but when someone like Faouzia appears, we do recognize that our souls were looking for something like that. We get tears, we feel disarmed, we fall in love, and we feel joy. There maybe many suggestions about her from fans, but try the stripped versions. "Elon" is an epic master piece in terms of lyrics and music. "Tears of Gold" an outstanding piece of art very difficult to perform, and it will be a classic to teach in schools for higher performance. "This Mountain" is a knock out, and so on.... And if you want to see how she transforms others' people song to gold, try her reaction "Remake - Eiffel 65 - Blue (Da Ba Dee) ", or "Middle child" of J.Cole.
Welcome to the world of Faouzia, a world of beauty, divine and excellence.

I'm SO glad you 'enjoyed' this... Faouzia is absolutely phenomenal! Go down the rabbit hole and see all of her songs, she does many covers, but has a number of ep's of her own songs as well, including this one. This one was written after someone told her people were talking about her at school, people she didn't know and they didn't know her, Bad Dreams was written when she was 14 after having some bad dreams. Exothermic was written after a chemistry class on the subject and Wake Me When It's over was written at the beginning of the pandemic... Oh, and definitely check out Minefields ft. John Legend, she wrote this and her team told her a male voice would sound good with it, she suggested him with not a hope that it would happen and then it did! Middle Eastern and North African singers are on a whole different level than Western ones in my opinion. They are more flexible, have greater range and can sing for hours and hours uninterrupted. Oum Kaltoum, for example, is one of the greatest, and she could sing one-hour-long song after the other. Her writing was poetry. Arab music in general is such a treat, and it's not very popular in the western world. It's not for everyone, but no one can deny that the ballads are otherworldly and haunting.
Also, you've never heard a love song until you've heard an Arab love song. Here are some examples:
"I will go where your breath leads me,
In the countries of ivory and ebony
I will erase your tears, your sorrows
Nothing is too exquisite for a girl so beautiful."
"Pour me and lets drink on love's ruins, and tell of me as long as the tears are running
How that love became past and another tale among the sorrowful stories"
    etc...

Faouzia is actually a Soprano! Her lower range is just VERYYYYYY strong. She hits G#5’s in her mix like they’re nothing and that’s something no mezzo, much less a contralto, could do. But to me, that just makes her lower registers even more impressive. I recommend u listen to How It All Works Out, Anybody Else, and Born Without A Heart - Stripped!
Edit: I also wanted to add that she has had absolutely NO vocal training! She’s doing all of this on her natural born talent and the hard work she puts into practicing and polishing her instrument.

@@alexray_ Not everything is on Spotify.
And she pulled a lot of her drops from Instagram.
The video of her singing “Say Something” at 13 has disappeared again.
“The Sound” is the song she and Matt Epp won the 2016 International Songwriting Competition with is hard to find too.
Several songs she did at Montreux on her 19th birthday in 2019 have vanished.

      It’s worth a go.
