Is AD or AP Katarina Better? - S12 (2022)

- This is why it's hard for me to say not to build AD. Even if it has a terrible winrate for Kat. I like BORK and Sunderer but I'm unsure about Kraken.

i really like to play katarina with kraken+lethal tempo maybe is not the best option but for sure is one of the builds that i use cuz i really feel i do damage xd
I honestly applaud Katarina main's reaction to these nerfs. You guys actually back up with statistics and evidence(s) on why the nerf is so detrimental to the character. In contrast, other mains would be WILDING
Go to the reddit there are a lot of us that are just straight crying and comparing it to ryze who has had the low winrate for far longer than 4 days. I do respect the ones that do use evidence but everyone else in the comunity is showing the 52% rocketbelt 2nd item winrate and telling us to "build correct".
We need the 100% ap scaling on the passive back. Please, or at least, a new ap/ad hybrid item.
even if daggers had 100% ap scaling, it still wont be the same as it was back in gunblade days. season 10 you can easily get almost 1000 AP from items. Now, with full stack mejai and rabadon build you mayybe can get near 7-800 AP due to the chances

I think we just need an AP on-hit myhtic. It would solve a multitude of problems with almost all AP assassin/bruiser champs.

I main top lane but I love katarina. I was wondering if there is any reason to play her top in a certain matchup or game. Like if they have a karthus jng and a fiora top or something.
There have been times where it was a fine pick against some ranged cheese like gangplank, kayle, vlad. But atm it's hard to punish these picks early
I play her top sometimes, mostly because I get off role in 3/4 matches. I wouldn't say there's ever a real reason to pick Kat over other champs unless you're a onetrick

why are you maximizing Q if your build early had 0 ap?like E would be better because it would scale with AD no?
each point in Q gives me 30 damage and lowers the cooldown
each point in E gives me 15 damage, lowers E cooldown which also lowers the refund on shunpo
its not like maxing E gives me more damage because I'm ad. It doesn't increase it's AD scaling per level.
Once I feel like I don't have much kill pressure I'll just max Q if I'm building ad

Ad build is very good for early game lane phase and a little bit "bad" on late game, and ap build is the worst option to lane phase & early game, but is very strong on late game you scale so much doing tons of dmg, but in overall i prefer kat ad because i love the auto attack resets playstile pretty much than ik playstile.

FROM PBE, rioters said they buff ap kata (her ap scaling, Q dmg and onhit dmg on R) in next patch (12.13)… time to switch again on nashor + rockbelt build… to burst them all…
the buff is appreciated, but it's only 100 more ap with the full combo, like 25 more ap damage with a short trade, not a big buff, but at least they will not survive with 5% hp in the case you are feed enough to kill someone

But if I wanna play Kata, I'd go with AP.
Ap is one hundred times better honestly because its more consistent. Only problem is the damage output isnt enough. I am okay with Katarina being a squishy oneshoter as long as she can actually one shot squishes.

I am not gonna lie I still do not think that Kat deserves these huge buffs, she just simply doesn't need it that much compared to ryze lol. I am not an "angry reddit person" but it just doesn't line up with what the majority of the games that happen

Why do all Katarina mains think they should have an answer to an every game situation? I mean, if character is unplayable, yeah, sure it's bad and not supposed to be, but I'm so sick of Katarina can literally work with anything and has an option for everything that can face her in the game exept of her player skill. AP? Sure. AD? Sure. Tank? Why not. Idk how, but this MUST be changed. Katarina should stay as AP assassin with clear cons. "She's screwed when behind!" Wow, noooo waaaaay... You know who's else? Like 1/2 of champions! And it is normal for an assassin. I really don't like the logic like "I master Katarina, so now I should be able to win everyone and piss on every other champion". No, you should not. But again, yeah, even with all my hatred for her, it is not okay to ruin any champion completely. I hope Riot will find a solution for her one day...
Many katarina mains just want to build ap, but when reworked items, ad items build deal more domage and give better resistance, regen, and more continuous dega than build ap. And katarina doesn't really play like a classic assassin. He's an assassin who needs to scale with the ap build, and plays around teamfigth. We don't ask to have every answer, just not to feel useless as soon as we see the champs selects.
This comment is aggressively ignorant and Ill informed. Katarina has never been in a state where she has an answer for everything, she's barely ever had over 50% winrate and doesn't win lane against most midlane champions. The champion has clear cons as well as distinct counter play. Shocking to see you don't know that and yet you're so passionate about your hatred for the champ.
actually funny that katarina can build actually anything and still dont deal enough damage to kill someone... i mean yeah katarina is screwed when behind but lol shes also screwed when shes even to her opponent... mostly any champ in league is stronger then kat LOL
