I think it's a mile too early for a video like this. A single deck won a tournament when their deck and sideboard were loaded for the perceived meta, which is not indicative of a problematic deck
I do agree with you for the most part.
The thing that scares me is how the deck seems to come together without fury. Scam still has the Grief opening that steals a good handful of games (which become non games the majority of the time) and even without fury has some of the best interaction in the format.
I'm just real spooked that even with it's very small showing (4 players) it still took the event down with the top 16 full of known decks.
@neonmushroom6763 I understand what you're saying, but my opinion is we don't have enough information to panic about whether Fury or grief or realistically both would have been best to ban. She definitely got lucky with opponents facing Living End 5 times. Out of her two losses, one came from tron, which she split games she lost to a tron deck once, and she beat a tron deck once. She lost to Yawgmoth the only time she faced the deck. Beat the control decks and beat zoo also faeries and amulet. She faced three different control decks, and the other three decks only played against once, so hard to tell how tell how that match goes. There is not quite enough information for me there yet. She also beat Rhinos twice. I think it's worth waiting for more information, maybe a month or two into the format before talking about if the ban was right. Personally, my opinion is that both Grief and Fury should have been banned, so I don't have a reason to defend Grief, but I do like giving things a shot before panicking.
In addition to scam, banning Grief would make living end a bit less of an eyeroll of a matchup. Fuckin hate that deck.
Yeah that's the main reason I'm a little confused, you could probably talk me into agreeing that it makes sense to ban fury. But Grief should have 100% gone first

It's all speculative at this point, so I hope more data comes in soon. As for my speculation, I think we might see Scam take on a similar situation that Jund faced a long time ago, where WotC banned Bloodbraid Elf in order to hit it, and all it did was cause the deck to streamline itself into a Golgari shell that had already existed. What we're seeing now is that Fury being banned opens up more slots for strictly better cards in the long run, while still having the ability to aggressively mulligan to Grief scam. I'm just hoping that all of this is just misplaced fear, but it's up in the air right now.
We'll definitely see, max and I did some games with the list and the deck seemed crazy good.
Hopefully I'm two weeks in just straight up wrong but idk

Maybe because I'm not a veteran MTG player, but I don't really understand this. Decks like these just seem to say "I get to play my cards while making you throw away your hand before you get the chance to even play a land." To me, it's like setting up a chessboard and your opponent knocks the left 1/3 of your board off and says "Now let's play." Maybe I'm wrong but it just doesn't look fun to play with or against.
It's definitely rough, scam won't do this the majority of the time, somewhere between a quarter and a third if I had to guesstimate. But that's still a pretty big issue imo
Not to mention that the cascade menace was left completely unchecked. They banned beanstalk because they siad that the cascade decks would rather cascade into beanstalk than free broken shit, but thatbwasnt true at all! Beanstalk decks were just kinda meh, and didn't perform all that well in challenges, and the rhino deck has consistently put up better results. WotC banned beanstalk merely to appease the reddit clowns, same reason they banned mystic sanctuary and Uro, 3 years ago!
I think rhino's is MAYBE ok, it's a very easy deck to hate out, though the decks game one win rate is nutty.
That said I don't think the meta game we saw at lms was hitting rhino's too hard.

I agree with most of your view of things, and I have always claimed that Grief was the real culprit, because it also sees play in Living End, where they use Grief to prevent you from running hate.
EDIT: To add upon things here, they should also look at Micosynth Garden because that card literally enables a t2 Titan win with Amulet Titan, that would at least hit slow it down without killing it outright.
And if they should look into Yawgmoth, with maybe ... Young Wolf? I would personally kill that deck altogether by shoving Yawgmoth up so deep into his own rectum cavity so that he can see the true form of Phyrexia.
And a clear message to WOTC:
DO. NOT. TOUCH. TEMUR. RHINOS. 🥺
(I love Cascade, and I love Blue Moon, and if you merge those two decks, you get Temur Rhinos.)
Honestly I love rhino's, I don't really play it but I think it does a good job of forcing people to play honest.
You're not gonna race rhino's or solitaire into a win (with the exception of living end) so it demands respect, especially when it comes to sideboarding
I played a lil modern event at my LGS and oh boy Grief still fucks me. Did WoTC testers ever get double thoughtseize on a mull to 5? Cuz I did, all 3 rounds…

Using this top8 as evidence that Grief should be have been banned is insane. It’s not uncommon for players to modify a deck they’ve been playing for a while after a ban on such short notice. Sure, Rakdos good stuff will continue to be good and so will Orzhov Scam, but the meta will continue to evolve and will look very different than it did pre Fury ban.
