I did believe they said it was clogged tho if I replace it and follow this video does it being clogged change anything or I will be good to follow this video and the gasket I need to replace too it, doesn’t overheat all the time It reported it to the system that the engine was overheating due to it being so hot. I had got it checked out and he said it recorded it and just recommend I replace gasket as well.. and thermostat. Also engine light is showing. goes away and comes back the car is parked currently so it went away they’re still saying I should fix the catalytic converter as well. Should I after just see how it runs with the thermostat/gasket fixed first or replace both.

      I believe this procedure is the same on the tsx. For your heating problems, it would be an HVAC problem. The thermostat regulate the engine coolant and if your engine is running fine but your HVAC on your vehicle is being weird, its probably just the HVAC problem and you might want to diagnose that.

    first issue i had was that the heater control valve broke. The center screw came right off and started leaking coolant and overheated the car.
    I replaced it and test drove it but i noticed the temp gauge was going up and assumed the thermostat stood closed since it overheated, i also replaced the thermostat. I test drove it and again it started over heating at this point i check the radiator and i noticed a small leak from one of the plugs in the bottom. i replaced the radiator and again overheating issues. the fans work. the thermosensor works too. any suggestions?

      @NutzAboutBolts  Před 9 lety

      donaldo1954 we were doing this video just to demonstrate how to replace it. But if you have a thermostat that is stucked closed, it'll cause the vehicle to overheat. If its stucked open, it'll run colder than normal and will set the check engine light. It can also cause poor fuel mileage and heater to blow cool air. I hope this helps.

Anyways, I'm going to replace the thermostat tomorrow. I know for sure that that I saw that water boiling sending that hot water causing over flow in the accessories reservoir bottle. when you turn on your A/C, that's not the radiator fan, that's the condenser fan. The radiator fan is the one that attaches to the radiator, which will turn on when the engine gets too hot.

    • @NutzAboutBolts
      @NutzAboutBolts  Před 8 lety +1

      +Npetzold Npetzold you change it out when you change the water pump out. over time the thermostat will wear down and break, so you want to change it before it does. The thermostat helps the engine warm up and when its at the right temperature, it opens the valve and let hot coolant out of the engine and through the radiator to cool down. If its either stuck open the engine won't heat up properly and if its stuck closed, the engine will over heat and gets damage. It's best to change it when you change the water pump as well.

      +NutzAboutBolts yikes!!! Looks like I gotta start saving my quarters for both water pump & thermostat. I was gunna do the coolant flush now.. But I think I'll wait till I get those done first.

    Are the bolts known to snap on the housing? Thats that biggest concern i have working on my car

    • @NutzAboutBolts
      @NutzAboutBolts  Před 2 měsíci

      Don’t over torque the bolts and you’ll be fine, hand tighten the bolts first

    • @projectskadi9354
      @projectskadi9354 Před 2 měsíci

      What about taking them off ik my thermostat and bolts haven't been touched at all since the car was manufactured and its at over 220k miles

    • @NutzAboutBolts
      @NutzAboutBolts  Před 2 měsíci

      @@projectskadi9354 it shouldn’t snap if you’re removing it.

      @NutzAboutBolts Sorry if this becomes a bother, but I just found out how expensive a water pump replacement is, and I'd love to do it myself as well. Is that hard? Is there anything I need to worry about like again bolts breaking when loosening them?

    Hey, thanks for the video. I just want to know my car problem as i can see engine light on my dashboard and engine is overheated while air-condition is on! While the engine is overheated and ac cooling is ver low. Cooling fans are working fine and fuses are ok. I wonder if i need to change the thermostat to overcome all these problems. Kindly advise. Thanks in advance.

      +Mustafa Samiuddin get the check engine light read first and see whats the problem, after that, fix the problem that's causing the check engine light.

      +NutzAboutBolts Thanks mate. I would like you to list out the causes of engine light if possible.

    • @NutzAboutBolts
      @NutzAboutBolts  Před 8 lety +1

      Mustafa Samiuddin
      There's a full list if you google it and the only way to know what the check engine light is by using an OBD2 scanner. You won't know what the problem is without knowing what that check engine light is for. A check engine light can be caused by a lot of reasons, electrical, mechanical, engine problems, sensors, and too much to list. Go get yourself a scanner and plug it in and check what the code number is.
