- Nikolas Cruz is facing a possible death sentence for killing 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Isabel Chequer, a former student at the school, described what was happening in the moments leading up to, during and after the fatal shooting. Chequer says she was in her 4th period Holocaust class when gunshots rang out in the hallway.

I didn’t see her shaking really but recalling any tragic event is traumatizing. The young lady got up on that stand told her truth with strength, honor, and dignity. Don’t disrespect her by saying she was “shaking” and all of that. Focus on the positive, she felt comfortable and had the strength to tell her story. She’s a rockstar!!!

It’s a traumatic thing that has happened and will stick with her & the rest of them for life .. will it define their life? Hopefully not but again it’s COMPLETELY normal to have emotions when dealing with something as severe as this , not to mention have to relive and talk about it 4 years later! It’s like opening a wound that’s trying to close!
@@M2ProMBP Rewatch the video, especially the last half after the microphone fell. She is very clearly visibly shaking. That’s okay, though. It’s not an insult, nor is pointing it out disrespectful. If anything, it shows that she is an even stronger person, as despite her still being heavily impacted by the trauma she endured, to the point that her body still has a very physical reaction while recounting it, she had the strength and courage to get up on the stand and come face to face with the monster who caused that trauma. In my opinion, that is something that highlights and adds to her strength, honor and dignity even more, not take away from it. She most definitely IS a rockstar, though! May God bless her on her continued journey of healing, and may her testimony bring her some semblance of closure.

Poor girl is having a PTSD anxiety attack. She is completely terrified as she recalls the details that horrific day….and the killer is only a couple feet away from her. 💔
My god, she was doing her best to not let the anxiety and trauma overwhelm her, poor girl I hope keeps on fighting.

Trauma is often invisible until it is not ie the symptoms drug and alcohol abuse, violence, homelessness, relationships etc etc.

Wow… this is one of the most powerful testimonies I’ve seen in this case. You can tell at the beginning she’s trying so hard to keep it together & when the microphone unexpectedly falls to the ground it’s like the sound of it hitting the floor triggered her just enough to aid in the manifestation of her PTSD. And the last minute or so of the footage she’s blankly staring at something as if she’s reliving that entire event all over again in her mind… Absolutely heartbreaking
Bless her heart, I feel so terrible for her. She is too young to have had to live through such horrendous acts of evil.

She's probably been through god knows how many hours of therapy after her experience and now she has to live through it all again. I can't imagine what it's like and I hope I never will. There's one thing, she'll never forget those names of her friends as they all crouched together and praying someone would come and save them..
BTW: The title is misleading and wrongly mixed. It's not about the Munich Olympics massacre that student is talking about, it's about the Olympics in 1936 in Berlin during the Holocaust. The Munich Olympics massacre took place in 1972.

It destroys me watching this. This wonderful young lady is so brave. My heart bleeds for her, her family, friends, staff, the rescue crews and everyone affected by this mindless massacre. Please America, address guns. And don’t say it’s the gun owners responsibility as an excuse. It’s clearly not working.
All they have to do is secure the schools, they were doing it after Sandy Hook, and then just stopped, if they had it secured and cameras and security checking every person that comes in, this monster would have never been able to do this!!

No other place on earth even needs to consider making schools a high security place. It’s so hard watching the students relive this nightmare. Just feel like bawling all through it. 💔💔 This poor student was so traumatized. I hope she’s getting the help she needs.
I am absolutely sobbing watching this. To hear what she had to go through and witness. To see her bravery and holding it together one deep breath at a time. I seriously wanted to give her a big hug.

I just “retired” from teaching after almost 10 years and the PTSD that I have that has grown stronger and deeper inside me is hard to explain and I never encountered a shooting in our building. The lockdowns, the deliberate disregard for safety measures, hiding information about students with weapons, not locking down when students had said weapons, fights daily, kids being jumped by trespassing students right outside my classroom door, sexually harassed and targeted by students which went ignored and refused by admin, threats that cause national security to call me about reported threats….I still jump and shut down at any loud banging, screaming, fighting, I fear for my friends children when they are sent off to school, I get physically sick and pained seeing back to school items in stores, and I don’t go anywhere without my knife or my CC 9. I will not stop fighting for more protection at our schools across America. The career I once loved as broken me and I refuse to let it break more .

You have an overwhelming fear which I don't blame you for, especially with what's going on in America lately. But you cannot get PTSD if you've not experienced anything to get PTSD from.

My statement is about how teaching is now and how education fails all involved. They knew that this boy was a monster and still allowed him to be main stream. Well I was fortunate enough she never experience of shooting inside the building I have experienced being locked down for murders outside of our building and after going through what I’ve been through I can’t imagine having to walk down those same halls where I’ve watched my friends be killed

5:08 you can tell she has shell shock. It's the way she reacted when the microphone fell. You can tell. I felt bad this happened to her while testifying.
At 5:00 you can really tell how you can never fully heal from an experience like that. The loud sound startled her even though she could see the mic fall. Made me tear up. I hope she, and all the other victims and witnesses, heal from it all eventually🙏❤

I can not even begin to imagine how they felt! It can bring you to your knees. I think I've cried with everyone of them, the parents, ALL the other victims still alive, and for the ones who've passed on who can't speak for themselves! I've never gone through what they've went through, just speaking how heartbreaking it is to hear their testimonials every day! 💔😪 Picturing the tragedy and all their fear and emotions felt on that dreadful day..
