I think Lorne himself said everyone’s favorite era of SNL is the one they grow up watching. Since 1975, with all the cast changing every few years, they’re practically different shows entirely.

Weekend Update is the only reason SNL exists nowadays. Consistently funny, no padding required, it’s the beautiful dessert at the end of a crappy meal.
The opening with people relieving the previous person is pretty funny and of course the getting shot and people totally justifying it ... what a trooper Colin is to take all this abuse!
