    As a worship leader in a church, I have been wireless for quite some time... I love the freedom to break free from the spot I'm in to walk out into the seating area to hear the mix... If I need to go to the sound board... If I need to go to another area of the stage to walk someone through their part... If I need to grab something off stage... I never lose my connection.

    One advantage I have found with wireless is that it eliminates ground loop hum. Ever have a situation where there is hum when your guitar is plugged in that goes away when you touch your strings or the bridge? I have found that the hum goes away for me.

      That is a big plus. I saw someone else mention this in the comments of another video. To this date, I have never found a video on CZcams that addresses this particular benefit, (the elimination of the hum when you aren’t touching the strings) that you would get with a wireless connection and your electric guitar. If you know of a video that addresses this, let me know. I would like to see how that works. Actually, when I look it up in the browser, I have never found an article that addresses this benefit either.

    I've seen those wireless body packs in a pocket on the guitar strap. As my son told me, I don't need the complications. BUT if I needed one, this'll be the one. Thanks Chris and Cooper's super duper demo playing among the pianos.

      Sounds will travel a bit shorter than a yard in 2.3 ms which is the latency on the wl50.

    The correct way to test wireless versus corded would be to play something recorded
    Take that recording and then have an AB splitter switch back and forth..
    But it would have to be the exact same riff through the recorder.
    Don't tell anyone which one was which and see if there's a sound difference..
    Really is as simple as that.
    Of course you would definitely have to induce guitar distortion heavy metal and rock and roll for this test.
    Plain clean most things sound great but when you dirty things up it makes a big difference.

    There’s a difference between the speed of sound (where you have to adjust delays for different distances from the stage) and the speed of light that wireless system like this one use to send the signal. The lag, if there’re some, will be more caused by the processing in the receiver.

  • @steby123
    @steby123 Před 3 lety +2

    A high impedance( instrument cord) has about 10,000 ohms of resistance and after 25' the signal dies off fast, but the WL-50 on stage would be advantageous.

    No pianos were harmed during the production of the video. You're welcome, Patrick... Cooper and Chris, Greenberg and McKee, and Zach on the other side of the camera... Amazing!

    What about separation of two or more guitars on stage or in the vicinity of each other? I guess they are synchronized to each receiver. ???

    • @stevenhamilton5238

      Most of the new wireless systems will allow you to run multiple units on the same stage. They connect in a secure connection between the base and the module. I would always make sure and connect one at a time. If you are going to be off stage for a while... have everyone disconnect so that the units don't go into standby. I've had two guitars reconnect on the same frequency before because the were idle for too long and that was a mess for our sound guy. We figured out what happened and learned to all unplug when the units will be idle for a while. It never happened again.

Both seem to give my acoustics a bit of boost so I turn down the volume on the guitar. Also I'm using a mini BBE Sonic stomp pedal going into P A. In my humble opinion it sounds very much like a miked acoustic. Very little volume out of the guitar

    I have a cheaper Airbridge wireless system - for a noodler like me it's great to be able to avoid having the cable trailing across the floor. If I'm using an FX I use a short cable to that and then the transmitter with the output.
    Excellent demo of the two systems. Via YT I noticed nothing significant in tone changes.

    At a club gig, I placed my semi-acoustic on top of a piano so it was 'safe' while we packed up. Two minutes later I stepped on the guitar lead & brought it crashing down - resulting in a chip in the back. I went wireless for the next gig - won't happen again (I'll find a new way to damage my gear). I also stepped on my lead on the odd occasion & pulled it out of the guitar - embarrassing. Wireless fixed that problem too.

    I've tried several different consumer level wireless and while the tone did change it was acceptable for my needs, but the delay was unacceptable. Even those advertised as low or no delay were horrible. I only want to use a wireless on my Yamaha silent guitar so I may give this Boss option a try.

    boss wireless systems are less than okay and that is, if you are the only one using it on the stage. you cannot walk around and such. i'm trying to get rid of my wl-20. there is not a single gig which i was completely satisfied with it. 30 feet is not correct at all on stage because of equipment, phones etc. 2.4ghz wireless systems are not worth it

    you know you cna put that pack on your belt or pocket. and change guitar without needing a dozen packs,. also a pack with a right angle cable doesnt mean you have to have a big thing sticking out your guitar to hit or snap off. theres a reason pro level; wireless are packs, not these. better frequency range, scanning, better battery life, more durable, the list goes on,

    • @stevenhamilton5238
      @stevenhamilton5238 Před 3 lety

      I have a pro level body pack and have also tried these and other "bud style" wireless system. I would say these and other buds are consumer level. They do a good job. They don't offer the distance of a body pack either. Not that most guitar player will venture 100+ feet from their stage, but the signal strength makes a difference to me. I can tell a difference (very small) in the signal strength and quality when we record for FaceBook Live or CZcams between the different units. I use the body pack and the stationary guitar (two of them) both use wireless bud systems like this. Please note that they don't use this particular system. They use the Line6 and not the Boss system, so I'm not speaking in regard to this system for my band.
