It worked 100% for me, I saw this and have been using it for a few months now. I got one with tea tree oil and it works better than the regular dandruff shampoo, I used to use all types of acne washes and pads with no success. I’ve been trying to find a way to get rid of acne for 15+ years

@@nihalbhamrah4726there is different types of acne. What the girl in the video had was fungal acne that’s why the head and shoulders worked for her. If it was that simple then do you think there’d still be people suffering from painful acne? (Not trying to be rude kind of came off like that).

Had the same problem. Took me years to realize my hair products were the culprit of my breakouts. If you still wanna use any fancy hair products I highly recommended sleeping with a headband on. I’m telling you 👏🏽 I do not post comments but ya need to know. Sleeping with a headband changed my life forever because now I can still use my hair products I like without breaking out. We don’t realize it but when we sleep, our hair gets on our face and releases the product onto it causing breakouts due to all the oils and stuff in good hair products. I started using headbands more often, especially when I sleep to keep my hair out of my face and I swear to g it has been a life saver and this implementing this little habit into my routine has made my skin so clear.
You should get a silk bonnet no they are not just for people of color. It'll keep your hair completely off your face and it protects your hair from breakage and all kinds of stuff
Silk pillowcase from Blissy for the win! And a silk bonnet. Not sure about the head and shoulders. I’d be scared to tell anyone to use a product on their skin, people react so differently lol

Head and shoulders works best for a certain type of acne: fungal acne. Just be aware if you don't have this type of acne, it can make things worse (many people suffer from bacterial or hormonal acne). Skin care is really trial and error anyway, but if it doesn't work for you in 2 weeks, move on :)

I have some bad acne, but all I use is the Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser, Cetaphil lotion and epiduo. And that's it. Skin has never been clearer. I had been trying some 10 step stuff prior to this and my skin was way worse.
I believe this is what works great for fungal acne. If you have fungal acne your breakouts are probably itchy. Also it does not mean you are dirty for having itl!! It can come from towels depending on how/where they’re washed, from being humid outside, etc. some people are just more prone to it.
Thats bc dandruff is a type of fungal thing. I think..thats what i was told at least. I kept using dandruff shampoo bc i thought thats what i had..but it continued to get worse and i tried every kind. I went and got my hair cut and asked the women while i was there and she told me its bc i dont have dandruff i have dry skin. And dandruff shampoo is used to dry the fungus out. So all i was doing was drying out my dry skin more. She suggested tea tree oil. I used it a few times a week and i havnt had an issue in like 5 years.

yeah, the fragrance in H&S always made me break out (my mum swears by it) I used to use the Axe 2 in 1 shampoo / bodywash for dandruff but they discontinued it a few years back now.
I found a zinc facewash on amazon and my skin has cleared up so much. Felt a lil weird putting shampoo on my face, but I found a bar soap that worked really well for me. Everyone is different, but for me, my sister told me she started using just a paste of water and baking soda. Use as a face scrub. It will break you out but it's pulling all the crap out of your skin. After, I kept using it 2 to 3 times a week as a scrub and Cerave the rest of the time. If I have have a spot breakout, I put a dot of the paste on it. Go to bed. It does flake off some but doesn't bother me. Get up next day and it's smaller if not gone. I get cystic acne which takes forever to clear up but this has helped a ton!
this works for fungal acne which lots of people suffer with on their forehead and stuff. unfortunately head and shoulders can do more damage than good for some people (myself) as the surfactant in it are harsh and there's artificial fragrance in it. BUT I'm saying that, it can work for some people for sure, and there are other zinc shampoos that are a little less harsh that are also fantastic for this issue. if it works for you keep it up!!! it's a money/life saver tbh, more people need to talk about it.

@orchdork775 try diaper rash cream for sensitive skin. It'd perfect for sunburn and breakouts. Been using it for 20 years and my mother used it as far back as the early to mid 70s. Great spot treatment.
zinc is no joke. I have a mineral sunscreen that’s zinc-based and when I’m wearing it regularly my skin is perfect, and it actively clears break outs. If I get a pimple I use the sunscreen and it goes away so fast!! EDIT: sorry I didn’t include the name originally! I use etude house’s sunprise sunscreen in the “mild airy” finish. I’ve used it for a few years now, it’s nice because it doesn’t leave as bad of a white cast as other mineral sunscreens *cough* cerave. Also ymmv since we all have different skin types ofc, but sunscreen is always a must :)
Zinc oxide is used as sunscreen and it’s not the same as zinc pyrithione used in anti dandruff shampoo. Also zinc in no way clears acne besides the fact that zinc alone is a powder that can slightly absorb oil. That’s it.
For all of you that might be thinking of buying Head & Shoulders, PLEASE check the ingredients for sulphates and parabens. Native is a better option imo

For sure. Another pro tip: change your pillow cases at least once a week. Your face is oily. 8 hours a night on the same pillow case after a couple nights can start to cause break outs. Again, everyone is different, but highly recommend.
Zinc is actually medical used (as in lotions, pastes or pills) to increase wound healing. It also has a slightly desinfecting/ asepting effect on skin issues

just in case it changes someone else's life like it did mine: if you have oily skin and nothing works, start treating it like dry skin. moisturizing wash and no astringents. oily skin (and hair!) is sometimes just dry skin that's overcompensating
Yes!!! I actually had such terrible skin I went to school to be an esthetician. I wanted to make sure others didn’t have to go through it like I did. What did I learn… Drying your face out makes it more oily 😂 the logic… i was so upset that didn’t occur to me lol
💯 And the strangest part is none of the derms I saw over the years picked up on this! I just had to figure it out myself, and once I did, hello clear beautiful skin!
@@malyssa309 i know right? like why did it not occur to me to just be more gentle with it?? even with prescription skincare, it just seems like folks with acne get prescribed tougher and harsher treatments that make you itch and pick more and lead to scarring you can't get rid of even once your skin is clear.
Licensed esthetician here...any sudden change to your skincare routine can cause breakouts. Using random products willy nilly (no matter how expensive) will do the same. If you continue to have break outs on your chin, it may be a hormonal shift as hormonal acne happens in that area. Not saying for you to stop using the shampoo -- if it's working for you, then cool. Grapeseed oil is a great cleanser should you need another option on the future.
@rynfornow3411 ty! Many people once past their mid-20s break out from their skin not being hydrated enough (which makes their skin produce more oil so they think they are oily), or their pH is thrown off (because most cleansers are alkaline and our skin is slightly acidic...this why folks need to use a toner after washing their face). The grapeseed oil avoids both issues. It's hydrophilic, so you can wipe off the excess with a damp rag. It's also mildly antiseptic and helps with inflammation and hyperpigmention. It's low on the comedogenic scale, so it's shouldn't cause pimples. I haven't had a person who didn't benefit from using this. The dandruff shampoo is prob helpful because it's antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and exfoliative, but our skin needs change with time, esp after any large hormonal changes like having a baby or just from 20s-30s or perimenopause. So the shift to using different skincare stuff could potentially have been a coincidence rather the singular cause, but again sudden shifts can trip the skin out. It's why I recommend the grapeseed oil to get folks to a place of balance without making them take on an elaborate regiment. I've always thought Elyse has lovely skin, so I def want her to have the knowledge she needs to get her skin back to balance without her needing to do a lot of work for it.
Also head and shoulders is good for fungal specifically, which is probably the reason it works really well on her. But for other acne types it won’t really help that much. And more people have fungal acne then they think.
I just discovered zinc as well!!! I do cerave pm, differin, and triple paste diaper rash cream at night. Yes you read that correctly. My skin is clear and glowing. I’ve never experienced this before 🥹 If my daughter ends up having acne issues I will remember this! Thanks for all you do ❤

the reason she broke out is by trying new products. i used to make the mistake of trying a bunch of different kinds because i kept breaking out, and only had clear skin after sticking to one brand for like 6 months+ if u switch it up randomly ur skin gets fucked up again 😭
@@user-zb6rl7yq8f true! I bought the exact same bottle she shows in this short, so it will be months before I run out. Haven't used it yet, but thinking I'll add it to my current face wash bottle. Dude note: this, like most modern shampoos, has dimethicone in it, which is terrible for hair but great for skin. It's what makes your hair feel silky when it's being used, but if you're using sulfate-free shampoo, the silicone builds up and can kill your hair.

It worked for my sister for a while but gave her perioral dermatitis and hyperpigmentation because harsh products dry out your skin and dry skin is a skin conditions magnet.

Ive been saying this forever.. all I do for skin care is cerave facial cleanser when I shower and equate moisturizer. thats it, and my face is really clear most of the time. we see a lot of influencers making us feel bad if we dont buy and use every oil, toner, cleanser, whatever out there. the key is to know your personal skin type, and do what you need to do for it. if I used half the beauty products used in a 12 step skin care routine, I would literally break out in hives.

Yeah I remember using head and shoulder for my acne as a teen. It did clear my skin up, but at the expense of my moisture barrier. So my skin was left dull, dry, and ashy looking. if you have sebaceous dermatitis (redness, flakiness, and little whiteheads in the crease of your nose) washing your nose with head and shoulders will also get rid of it but again this won’t work for everyone and be careful if you have sensitive skin edit: I forgot to mention washing your face with head and shoulders will only work to clear your skin if you have fungal acne or seborrheic dermatitis as these are both skin conditions caused by an overproduction of Malassezia yeast in the skin and zinc pyrithione (the active ingredient of head and shoulders) is an anti-fungal which is why it gets rid of it

@@yessicadelrio5014 it won’t work on regular bacterial or hormonal acne. using head and shoulders will only help to reduce fungal acne as it is not caused by bacteria but rather a specific kind of yeast overgrowth. there are many signs that suggest you have fungal acne such as: • dandruff in your eyebrows • your breakouts are mostly clustered small whiteheads or closed comedones • your face is itchy where the bumps are • normal acne products and ingredients do not help your skin but may even make it worse (ex. salicylic acid, glycolic acid, lactic acid, benzol peroxide, etc.) if you have experienced any of these definitely look up images of fungal acne and how you can find out if that’s what you have. having fungal acne is very tricky, as you have to adjust your whole skincare and makeup routine as many products contain ingredients such as cetearyl alcohol (and many more) that feed this yeast overgrowth and causes more fungal acne to appear.

just so you people know. shampoos, body products and whatever else might have zinc in them but they also have other ingredients that can cause irritation on your face. skincare products however include ingredients that are meant for your face, and body or scalp stuff include ingredients that are meant for body and scalp. dare i say everyone has different reactions to skincare, so if someone claims a dandruff shampoo helps with their acne it doesn't mean it will work for everyone. everybody's skin is unique, as well as their acne condition and history behind that condition. if your skin needs a certain product like zinc for example, you don't need to buy a shampoo, there's a ton of skincare with zinc as the main ingredient (serums, cleansers, toners, creams etc). so please people be careful and don't use tips from others until you do your research
Lol. There’s no face products with this type of zinc. This is an anti dandruff zinc that is an anti fungal. They don’t make face products specifically targeted for fungal acne. So this is kind of a “home remedy”. You can use many body products on the face even if it doesn’t say you can. Most body lotions for example can be used on the face. I wouldn’t use most body washes on the face however as the ph is usually too alkaline and the surfactants are usually too harsh. These anti dandruff shampoos for the face are only going to benefit people with fungal acne. In that case they’re excellent. I think Nizoral is far better than H&S though

It worked 100% for me, I saw this and have been using it for a few months now. I got one with tea tree oil and it works better than the regular dandruff shampoo, I used to use all types of acne washes and pads with no success. I’ve been trying to find a way to get rid of acne for 15+ years

It’s very complicated tbh lol💀
@@nihalbhamrah4726there is different types of acne. What the girl in the video had was fungal acne that’s why the head and shoulders worked for her.

Yes!!! I actually had such terrible skin I went to school to be an esthetician. I wanted to make sure others didn’t have to go through it like I did. What did I learn…
Drying your face out makes it more oily 😂 the logic… i was so upset that didn’t occur to me lol
💯 And the strangest part is none of the derms I saw over the years picked up on this! I just had to figure it out myself, and once I did, hello clear beautiful skin!
@@malyssa309 i know right? like why did it not occur to me to just be more gentle with it?? even with prescription skincare, it just seems like folks with acne get prescribed tougher and harsher treatments that make you itch and pick more and lead to scarring you can't get rid of even once your skin is clear.
so what exactly shall I use? Hydrating facewash and moisturizer to lock in the moisture, thats it?
Licensed esthetician here...any sudden change to your skincare routine can cause breakouts. Using random products willy nilly (no matter how expensive) will do the same. If you continue to have break outs on your chin, it may be a hormonal shift as hormonal acne happens in that area. Not saying for you to stop using the shampoo -- if it's working for you, then cool. Grapeseed oil is a great cleanser should you need another option on the future.
This should be top comment!
So if Zinc is helping why not just eat food with it or take the supplement 😮

Dude note: this, like most modern shampoos, has dimethicone in it, which is terrible for hair but great for skin. It's what makes your hair feel silky when it's being used, but if you're using sulfate-free shampoo, the silicone builds up and can kill your hair.

This made my life better! At 55, I have acne again, mostly on my jawline and shoulders. I also get sweaty, smelly, and rashy in body creases. A few days ago, I used zinc shampoo as a body wash. Holy Gee Bus! What an improvement in my skin. Thank you!
Jawline acne can also comes from hormones.
Jawline acne can come from not washing ur face properly
It sounds like you may have a Candida overgrowth, i suffered with it, and my doctor told me to use head and shoulders for my skin issues because it is an antifungal shampoo, it does work, and quickly. Have a Google on Candida overgrowth and see if you have any of the other issues that it can cause, such as bloating, depression, lethargy and many more. If not then I'm glad you have found relief to your issues 😊
My dermatologist said the same thing & put me on meds for it - that helped.
Same thing just alum help me alot
Yeah I remember using head and shoulder for my acne as a teen. It did clear my skin up, but at the expense of my moisture barrier. So my skin was left dull, dry, and ashy looking. It's not formulated for skin so it's way too stripping, especially if you have dry skin (news flash, excessive oil is also a symptom of dry skin). If you are going to do this, really double down on moisturising your skin properly.
What wait how is excessive oil a symptom of dry skin

girl are you moisturizing
I have eczema and dry skin, which sometimes gets so bad that i don't want to interact with the world...or even move so that i didn't have to actually deal with the consequences of having severely flaky, dry, and scaly skin. This can go on for months. I experimented with sooooo much stuff. Clinical Strength H & S is basically all i need ever since i tried it. Sometimes moisturizer in specific areas if needed (vs having to ritually do 100% coverage of it multiple times a day along with other products with a strict and annoying routine...which only ever really masked it and sometimes slightly reduced the issues.
I can’t believe this actually worked for me 😭 thank you!
Also, for people who wear makeup remember to clean your brushes regularly, that was causing my acne as well, so I guess we have to be more aware of what we put on our face like towels, makeup brushes and pillow cases (but I also recommend seeing a dermatologist because it can be hormonal or other tipe of acne)
Hi , should I use Head & Shoulders or the product that the girl uses in the clip?
@@lamyasaleh I used the normal shampoo but only once a day because it can be really aggressive on the skin, also you need to wear something that hydrates your skin afterwards.
Remember that this product only works on certain kinds of acne so I recommend seeing a dermatologist 👍
@@dianav1131 I don't understand what you mean by Normal Shampoo? :) +Can I moisturize my skin afterwards with QV Cream? It's the only expensive product I own ~~
If your issue has to do with hormones, good luck 😂
@@KittyD859 Dietary and lifestyle changes are the best for treating hormonal acne. :)
if you have sebaceous dermatitis (redness, flakiness, and little whiteheads in the crease of your nose) washing your nose with head and shoulders will also get rid of it but again this won’t work for everyone and be careful if you have sensitive skin
edit: I forgot to mention washing your face with head and shoulders will only work to clear your skin if you have fungal acne or seborrheic dermatitis as these are both skin conditions caused by an overproduction of Malassezia yeast in the skin and zinc pyrithione (the active ingredient of head and shoulders) is an anti-fungal which is why it gets rid of it
@@-Oddish- your welcome! feel free to ask any questions if you have, I’m not a specialist or anything but as someone with both of those skin conditions I have done a lot of research on the two
Is it ok to youse if you have acne and my skin is not sensitive so idk 🤷♀️
@@yessicadelrio5014 it won’t work on regular bacterial or hormonal acne. using head and shoulders will only help to reduce fungal acne as it is not caused by bacteria but rather a specific kind of yeast overgrowth.
there are many signs that suggest you have fungal acne such as:
• dandruff in your eyebrows
• your breakouts are mostly clustered small whiteheads or closed comedones
• your face is itchy where the bumps are
• normal acne products and ingredients do not help your skin but may even make it worse (ex. salicylic acid, glycolic acid, lactic acid, benzol peroxide, etc.)
if you have experienced any of these definitely look up images of fungal acne and how you can find out if that’s what you have. having fungal acne is very tricky, as you have to adjust your whole skincare and makeup routine as many products contain ingredients such as cetearyl alcohol (and many more) that feed this yeast overgrowth and causes more fungal acne to appear.
You are absolutely brilliant. Sadly this is not me…I rarely get breakouts, but I look like Rudolph the Red Nose reindeer and I don’t want to buy makeup or skin products. Idk if this would really achieve anything for me…
Hormonal acne gang 😔 once a month my face gets a new coating of puss blossoms. Right as the previous ones were about healed.
It's especially good if you have dry flaky skin. Then use a good moisturizer afterwards. Protip though don't leave it on your face for a really long time, rinse it off fairly quickly.

Omg your so right it does work it took allot courage to try dandruff shampoo on my face but ….. my entire life suffering ended with in two washes …… thank you thank you so very much you changed my life 😊
As a man, water touching my face counts as skin care.
Elyse!!!! I immediately drove to the store and bought the soap!! Two washes and I have glass skin 🥰 you’re out here saving lives
Hey there what skin type are you? I'm considering this because I'm running a little low with my products but I don't want to screw myself over in the end
Yes! Itd be helpful to know
Sounds delulu
@@ilickgrandmas2854how? zinc is the active ingredient in these shampoos and zinc can have beneficial effects on some skin types/acne types. what's delulu abt that babe
@@fairygrl999 it's delusional to think you have glass skin after two washes with ANY facial cleanser. Someone's skin doesn't transform overnight unless you had a deep treatment session with a derm or licensed professional. Zinc aids in reducing acne related swelling and redness, it doesn't magically turn your skin into "glass skin" unless OP doesn't know what glass skin means to begin with. If they have fungal acne it works as an anti-inflammatory brilliantly, but glass skin? Yeah no
It works. Watched this about a month ago, had some, and tried it.
Testify. It's also good for treating tinea versicolour (an otherwise benign fungal skin infection that causes red-brown patches of skin, usually on your torso).
Best thing I ever did for my skin was stop wearing make up and just wash my face with water twice a day, and use a simple face wash a couple of times a week. My acne disappeared as soon as I stopped using skincare products.
please test spot on ur face, somewhere on ur forehead or cheek for atleast 2 weeks just to make sure it works before using it on ur whole face

I would, but I dont do skincare for good skin, i do it cuz its fun:) i like having a rrly extra skincare routine
I love how you caught my attention at the start
just so you people know. shampoos, body products and whatever else might have zinc in them but they also have other ingredients that can cause irritation on your face. skincare products however include ingredients that are meant for your face, and body or scalp stuff include ingredients that are meant for body and scalp. dare i say everyone has different reactions to skincare, so if someone claims a dandruff shampoo helps with their acne it doesn't mean it will work for everyone. everybody's skin is unique, as well as their acne condition and history behind that condition. if your skin needs a certain product like zinc for example, you don't need to buy a shampoo, there's a ton of skincare with zinc as the main ingredient (serums, cleansers, toners, creams etc). so please people be careful and don't use tips from others until you do your research
Thank you
@@audiosophydermatologist that lives in her mind. Besides, that doesn't mean you should it too lmao
@@Geozuksthis is actually a common suggestion. i’ve heard multiple ppl explain their derms said it isn’t necessary to buy a face wash but instead you can use the sud runoff from the shampoo that comes from your head while you’re washing your hair & it will have the same effect. obviously this technique is intended for ppl that aren’t suffering from more severe cases
@@pinkjellybeans00 Awful advice to take the supposed recommendation made for someone else by their doctor. And I hardly doubt a good dermatologist would say such statement 😬
Honestly, less is more. I get asked what I do very often and the answer is: eat a lot of healthy fats, drink water, and use the least amount of skincare I can tolerate based on the climate/season. I'm an Esthetician and I used to have a CRAZY complicated routine. Never looked better while doing less.
okay this literally has cured my acne. for YEARS i’ve had a multi-step process to treat my skin and while it gets rid of the big, deep pimples (caused by hormones or makeup for me), i couldn’t get rid of the tiny ones on my forehead no matter how hard i tried. i saw this, decided “what do i have to lose at this point” and within a week my forehead was clear for the first time in YEARS. now i know it was because of fungal acne, and wouldn’t have worked otherwise, but just your short getting me to try it has truly given me new confidence now that my skin is clear. thank you so much elyse
I had a nurse tell me to take zink supplements when I was a teen. Cleared me right up. Old fashioned Noxema in the little tubs helped too.
Super weird, I just had my boyfriend buy me head and shoulders today and I also get breakouts on my chin. I’m definitely going to try this, thank you!

pls don’t do this if you have sensitive skin- you WILL get a chemical burn and it’s drying af

SLS always causes a scab up on me. Couldn't pay me enough to put it on my face.

Surprised i dont have one for sensitive skin seeing as they've been around so long and products do touch ur skin accidentally
Head and shoulders gave me chemical burns on my scalp... my roots were sticky from the puss coming from my scalp for a week... im not touching that shampoo again 😂 and I do not have sensitive skin or scalp
Also lather first before putting on your face, it’s quite alkaline and may irritate/burn it put on directly

Thank yu for clarifying in this video that we can also used generic, I assumed it was just name brand!
She is right though there are several conditions where dermatologist recommendes shampoo mainly meant for dandruff some of them contain selenium
I never heard a zit on my life until my mom made me be her model for Mary Kay products. Before then I never used any soap or any kind, just water on my face. I broke out so bad and it took like a month for the zits to go away. I tried dozens of products after that because someone convinced me that all those zits were just under my skin when I was only using water. Just my face wasn't really clean before. Eventually I just stopped using all products on my face and went back to just using water and I have been zit free for a good 35 years!
