    Scottie Pippen puts his all-around game on display in the 1994 all-star game with 29 points (5-9 on threes), 11 rebounds, and 4 steals. The West big men ganged up on Shaq in the paint all game long but Pippen helps him get a little redemption to end the game.

      @@bradleyboyer9979 He was better all around in some ways, but MJ's scoring prowess and ability to finish teams off and take over the end of games put him above Pippen as far as overall impact on the court. Pippen was also starting to exist his prime after the '97 season. He was still good for the half of season he played in '98 but he didn't have the same explosiveness as he did in prior seasons. He, MJ, and Rodman were all old and worn down and yet they still found a way to win it all.

    Scottie Pippen, Horace Grant, and BJ Armstrong made the all-star team? I think it shows how impactful Scottie was to the bulls during the 94' season.

      @williamkoscielniak7871 Před rokem +8

      He certainly ran the offense beautifully, but BJ being in the all star game was a joke. The fans voted him in for some goofy reason, but of course he was still a good player, just not an Allstar. Grant on the other hand truly earned his spot on the all star team that year.

He is still beyond a beast here, but some of the things he did in those 1992 and 1993 years were things i havent seen from any other basketball player, including Jordan. Pippen could dribble around everyone and slam it in the centers face. His defense was insane, he would block shots at WILL, take the ball, go down and slam over everyone. Forget top 50, hes a top 25 all timer.

      Henry Hill Jordan was the better defender. Even back to his college days and early years before Pippen came to Chicago, Jordan was already putting up staggering defensive stats. Jordan was ferocious on defense with his speed, athleticism, intensity, and anticipation skills; he was all over the place. When Pippen came, he was a solid defender, but improved greatly playing with the best- No. 23. Jordan used to constantly burn Pippen in practice. The only advantage Pippen had over Jordan was his height and wingspan which he could use against bigger players. Jordan had that competitiveness that if you scored on him or blocked him with emphasis, he would get you back ten-fold. Pippen did not have that kind of intensity.

    • @LovingTinha
      @LovingTinha Před 9 lety

      G Ryen agree with you so much on that point, and imagine how much Jordan would have made Pippen improve defensively by constantly going at him in Practice, Jordan always made Pip defend him in Practice and it benefited both of them on both ends of the court. You can see that when Jordan scored on other people he knew he could do it easily because he made sure he had the best defending him in practice.

    I don't mean to be one of those guys who knocks the game of today, but if you watch how hard the West played Shaq compared to the layup line dunk fest it's become today, I'd take yesteryear ALL DAY! It's ALOT more exciting to see players get dunked on as opposed to letting everyone just go to the rim uncontested.

    • @LovingTinha
      @LovingTinha Před 9 lety

      That's why i don't watch games anymore, it doesn't feel like players are putting real heart into the game, they all just show boating and not even being tested, like every game is a shoot around, very sad to see the NBA get soft like that. Teams have to protect their interests you don't want players getting hurt like D Rose and then cashing in those fat checks without helping the team. Here is an idea, balance the pay between players so there isn't such a lopsided difference between what the best players get paid and role players earn. And let the players play hard.

      Anthony Allen 1. It wasn't the EC Finals; it was the Semis. 2. The "robbery" happened in game 5; in game 7, Pippen went 8-22 (36.4% FG) and Charles Oakley ate Horace Grant alive on the boards. Knicks deserved to win. 3. The '94 Bulls wouldn't have made it past the 1st round if the Cavs' Larry Nance and Brad Daugherty weren't out with career-ending injuries. 4. "In Jordan's absence", Pippen sat on the bench like a crybaby in the closing seconds of game 3, while Kukoc (one of Europe's best players ever) hit the game-winning shot. Pippen simply was not the general that MJ was; the MJ-led Bulls were 5-0 vs. the Knicks in the playoffs.

    • @AxeSmashDemolition
      @AxeSmashDemolition Před 9 lety +5

      gmn545 lol @ "general". The only reason the Bulls were 5-0 against the Knicks was because both MJ and Pip were there. Take away either one and the Knicks win some of those series. Hell, the year before Pippen was the reason the Bulls got past the Knicks in the '93 ECF. The Bulls were down 0-2 in the series and Jordan built a brickhouse shooting 3-18 in Game 3. If Pippen hadn't picked up the slack the Bulls go down 0-3 in that series and the Bulls could kiss that precious 3peat goodbye. And don't get me started on Game 6 when Jordan couldn't throw it in the ocean and Pippen had to finish the Knicks off in the 4th qtr.

    • @gmn545
      @gmn545 Před 9 lety

      AxeSmashDemolition Yes, a general as in stern leadership. Scottie did play more of a facilitator role, as floor communicator and "point-forward", but in terms of molding that team into championship caliber, that was all MJ. Hell, Scottie wouldn't have progressed much if Jordan didn't sacrifice his position as PG ('89) - getting 10 triple doubles in 11 games and averaging averaged 29.3ppg, 8.9rpg, 10.6 apg, 2.4spg at that position. If you want to talk about the impact both of them had, find me one playoff run where Scottie led Jordan in PER, Win Shares and/or WS per 48 min. I'll wait...
      As for '93 vs. NY, it was about time! Pippen had cost MJ and the Bulls in the past because he simply hadn't grown up. Game 7 vs. the Pistons in the '90 EC Finals, and Pippen puts up *2 points in 42 minutes*... Two. On 1-10 shooting. For the '93 playoffs:
      Pippen - PER: 16.9, Win Shares: 1.4, WS per 48min: 0.083
      Jordan - PER: 30.1, Win Shares: 4.4, WS per 48min: 0.270
      ...it's obvious who was more significant for the Bulls winning that year. As in, *it's not even close.*

    Everybody straight cap right now. They either weren't there or they're lying. Scottie was a star who shined brightly in Jordan's absence; All star MVP while in contention for league MVP. The league was auditioning a new league standout and Scottie was being considered because of his outstanding play, team record and recent 3peat status. Mike was gone but the bulls were still winning. Scottie was a man who both benefitted and sacrificed for haven been Mike's teammate. He was a great player just as many were then but Mike was the league's marquee player. Scottie threatened to expose the legacy or necessity of Mike. Mike came back (at the behest of everyone, including Scottie) but the truth is that the league would've survived because of Scottie and players like him, though there weren't many on his level.
