Idk how a D2 Ice Breaker can be balanced. Maybe as a Rapid Fire Frame?
As for PvE, there is a sniper that can roll 4ttc/triple tap, which assuming you hit all you shots is 60 maximum. That means Ice Breaker would be quite strong for PvE (also an exotic thus having the 40% buff vs redbars). And also in D2 they can always target nerf specific weapons.

@@Luzaku_kiss ‘cause it’s big and doesn’t sport conventional map design. 🤷‍♂️ Never forget that there was a large portion of the CoD community that bitched when the games finally ditched the flat, three-lane style of map design, which was boring and atrocious. The community’s reaction to Disjunction reminds me a bit of that debacle, in that the map isn’t laid out in a way that’s obviously conducive to competitive play as the community knows it, but I think in practice it plays much, much better than the community gives it credit for. Could definitely stand to be a bit smaller though.
Other than that, there’s nothing really wrong with it. Just another one of those things the community has latched onto in their unending quest to bitch about an electronic play-thing. Not saying that that applies to all who dislike the map, I’m sure there are players for whom the map doesn’t suit their preferences, and that’s valid. I just wish people wouldn’t conflate “I don’t like this map” with “This map objectively sucks”. But that’s dumb people for ya, I suppose.

Being able to get better versions of perks, especially when it's noticeable like Incandescant or Gutshot, made crafted weapons straight up better rather than being RNG protection like I thought crafting would be initially. Weapon sunsetting absolutely killed the desire to grind for things because knowing there was a not so distant expiration date on every godroll weapon and that you managed to get was an absolute buzzkill. We do not need to go back.

    • @cimirie01
      @cimirie01 Před rokem +5

We do, actually. This notion that we are entitled to keep our cherished treasures everywhere and they can become reliable and usable forever is just messed up. Few other games keep your weapons with you and have them be usable forever. It’s just silly to think they all have staying power.
And even if every other game did, every other game isn’t Destiny that’s been around for a decade and has stacked those years upon years of guns on us. At this point, we have every weapon. We have every short range, mid range, high speed, low impact, single target, multiple target, spam, precision, long range, every combination…. There is literally no non-game breaking weapon that can come out that we don’t have already. People rightfully complain about a lack luster loot chase but those people honestly are looking at it completely wrong. There is NOTHING worth chasing. That isn’t a fault of bad weapon development (because honestly some of these new weapons are good, but we already have a version of it). It’s a function of there is no space for something new. I would MUCH rather have an actual loot chase by sunsetting our old weapons (or at least most of them) than what we have now which is nothing worth chasing. What we have now is exponentially more infuriating than sunsetting ever was.

The main reason for most of the Destiny 1 pvP maps not coming back is the fact that they were balanced around controller movement at the time. Slow, sluggish, 75 points of FoV, lots of tight corridors, verticality corners etc. They were centered around methodical, though out gameplay. Porting them to D2 with all the movement tech, peekshooting, techniques and abilities would momentarly make it feel like Vietnam for one team or the other. Personally wish raid titles did require flawless BUT not for the main title, make a second smaller set of challenges that will let you gild the raid title and put the flawless under that. I think the title is supposed to show mastery of the activity and if someone can die 25 times in a GM and still get conqueror, then putting flawless behind the normal raid title is a much different level of difficulty compared to how titles are laid out nowadays. Plus, the flawless raider now still gets to flaunt a higher prestige by having the gild

Crafted weapons are big problem for me, because they ruin the end game loot chase for raids. Every raid has a "expiration date" on it basically. Once the raid releases everyone starts doing their runs to go craft all the weapons in in 6-8 weeks most/all weapons are done and then there becomes zero reason to play the raid ever again. Crafted weapons should stay to seasonal and planet-side weapons (neomuna set and throne world set) IMO

9:09 I absolutely agree with this take personally. Ever since craftable weapons were announced, I was one of the very few that immediately despised it in regards to the fate of god roll weapons being too easy to obtain. And god I'd say I'm right. There's no point in me grinding for a god roll astral horizon when I can craft an imperial decree. There's no point in me grinding for a dire promise or eyasluna when I can craft an austringer. Using a cartessian coordinate in pvp? Nah, just craft lightly suspect. Grinding a loaded question? Why? Just make an iterative loop.
I could go on, but I'd legit get pissed off. I don't even use crafted weapons until I grind for a god roll on said weapon because of my purist mentality. Smite of merain immediately comes to my mind. Once I got a god roll of that, I was ecstatic like I usually get when obtaining god rolls, but then I realized I could craft it and my thrill went away since I know I can guarantee a better one with no effort. That's what I'm getting at too: the thrill of getting god rolls. That is why I hate craftable weapons, it's so unrewarding. I don't get chills when I craft a god roll ragnhild-d, but a god roll astral horizon? Hell yeah, I'm junping for joy.
Maybe this really is a scorching hot take and I'm being a purist douche. Who knows. Either way, nothing can change my mind on this, I just thought I'd share my thoughts.

Disagree. Even without crafting, the fact that many weapons needed specific barrels or specific perks to be viable, was a pain point of D2. Bungie knew this, which is why many weapons had 5 bad perks, 3 mediocre perks, 1 good perk & 1 awesome perk. If you didnt have the good rolls, your damage numbers were lower than the player having the good roll.
As for grinding for a dire promise/eyasluna, i dont get you. Dire Promise is a weapon at least 3 years old, while eyasluna is almost 2 years old now. Obviously the newer weapon (austringer, not even 1 year old) will be better. If anything, you should be thankful, because in early D2 (and D1) weapons would only last a few seasons.

Not only incentive to play comp and grind it out to a certain rank, but also keeps worse players from constantly ruining games in the competitive pool where they don’t belong. Plat is a low enough comp rank that most players can make it into that, but will keep out the bottom 30% of players who have like a .7 or below that I somehow get. There should be a hoard-mode activity akin to Risk of Rain 2. The preexisting gambit maps, both current and vaulted, can be used and expanded upon for a hoard mode. For lore~ish reasons, the enemies would most likely be hive/vex/taken, and there would be a boss of those races we would summon at the end of each round before going to the next map/level. Inventory should be locked on each map, but can be changed between map transitions. On each map there will be power-ups and augmentations that have different rarities and different effects (minor armor increase as a low rarity augment, versus a higher rarity power-up giving an amped up explosive payload perk to all equipped weapons). Minor enemies would continually spawn in until the fireteam activated the mote bank to summon the boss (no motes should be used in the mode). After defeating the boss, the team can progress through the portal to the next stage. Rewards for the mode should be themed, if there is a taken boss, taken armor pieces should drop, vex boss has vex weapons, etc. Same should go with the perks on the items. Armor should intrinsically have a perk that grants damage boosts and resists against certain enemies and abilities (ie: increased solar grenade damage against taken wizards, increased resistance against harpies). The weapons should also have perks that tie back into the mode (increased damage against shielded hive enemies, shots have chance to disrupt vex enemies, defeated taken enemies have a chance collapse and damage nearby enemies, etc.). Just my two-cents and a pipe-dream. Bungie, if you read this, please make it happen.

IMO the real problem with weapon crafting is the enhanced perks. Weapon crafting should solely be a bad luck protection, you don’t get the roll you’re looking for after x amount of drops, now you can craft the weapon. Enhanced perks make it basically required to unlock the crafting for all craftable weapons if you want the best roll, which in turn makes even a possible 5/5 god roll drop worthless.

Void got shafted in the anti-champion verb update. Suppression is only on 1 grenade and tether and volatile rounds are difficult to access on anyone other than hunter. And even on hunter, it requires your exotic slot. Meanwhile stasis has six ways to Sunday to stun champs, strand can just suspend, and solar and arc have stupid easy ways to access their verbs

Here is my take - destinations are useless and unfun to play. You will visit as part of the seal, get the patterns, and them never come back again. Bungie needs to update at some point the destinations to revitalize them (maybe create planetary weapon farm? Like splitting the world loot drop into different planets and you are required to do activities on that planet to be able to foccus these weapons).

My hot take, because I've seen a lot of people call it a hot take for some reason:
Every activity should drop good stat gear, at least 60 total stat at the lowest.
(I'm so sick of getting 49 total stat armor from stuff like dungeons and raids)

The flaw of gambit is super clear: it ain’t rewards, it’s how much invader kills heal the primeval, full stop. Ridiculous how easy it is to stalemate the match so that you run out the clock on an activity that already takes ridiculously long.

hearing that people want to cut off old consoles from supporting D2 makes me really upset, as i play D2 on a PS4 solely because i don't make enough money to consider a PS5 a worthy investment yet. am i supposed to just suck it up and deal with it if the game i've spent money on and put hundreds of hours into is suddenly taken from me because my platform of choice is "slowing everyone else down?" i don't feel like i'm being very selfish here in saying i deserve to play the game on the console the game released on.

I think one way to make new armor more useful to actually grind (outside of aesthetic and maybe getting a slight upgrade) having armor origin traits could be cool, especially if they stacked and the more armor you wear or whatever, it not like this isn't something that other games already do.

simple solution for loot with identical stats...Fashion game. We got so many different weapons and every single one of them can help you out in destiny 2. Yeah some are more better then others but my biggest thing is I like my weapons to match my theme. If im going to drink radiolaria so I can get my Vex theme going you damn well know im going to only rock exotics and guns that match that theme rather then whatever I get my hands on. Makes buildcraft much more interesting

Gonna hit that auto mantling take as a solo PVE hunter main and that’s a big “WE NEED IT” from me, I do a lot of solo raiding and solo dungeon play if I can and being able to catch a ledge when I’m about to do a massive eager edge jump from across a giant gap in a raid solo shows that yes we need it it’s important to us plus it’s saved me a lot when I do stupid stuff lol

If Bungie shat loot out at you like Borderlands does, I think sunsetting weapons could have worked better. But yeh because it takes sooooo long to grind out good loot, turning around to make it obsolete for end game loot is a huge kick in the nads

Disjunction is a good map for rift, because it was designed with that in mind.
Sunsetting was also a good idea on paper, but terrible executed and, by just reissuing the same weapons again, they had almost 0 gain from doing it.
The way the armor system was designed with all that rng, elemental affinity, etc. Sunsetting was not a good call for armor. In the end, they only did it to remove mountain top and recluse from the end game.

It’s true when the guy says bungee doesn’t want destiny to be great. Bungee have said themselves in talks that they don’t want to be great they want to be just good enough because they’re selling a service and they don’t want to set the bar too high for themselves
