l excited to go back and rewatch this. I had fun for the little I was on.
Godzilla Final Wars was my first Godzilla movie. Quite the movie to start with right? I saw 1954 at a pretty young as well. Even as a kid, I knew the original was probably the best one, even if it wasn’t my favorite. I loved Shin Godzilla too at a young age. This discussion of silly vs dark Godzilla has always confused me. I say that as long as you execute it well with a well written story, then any tone can work. I personally think that a lot, if not most of the Godzilla movies are probably not very good, but I still love them because Godzilla is always fun and endearing to watch.
Was here. I've yet to see any of the eras of Japanese Godzilla movies but even I could tell Ant was grifting his ass off.

This is word salad. Are you trying to say serious doesn't make something good? Because in that case, sure. 2014 is the worst Godzilla movie we had since 98. But it's still by all objective measures, a serious film.

As for Final Wars, I don't entirely agree with Zim it takes itself seriously. Like yeah, it does in spots. But it also has a semi tongue and cheek tone with jokes, and balls to the walls action. What you said tho was "just because it takes itself seriously doesn't mean it's a serious movie". That's word salad lol

The room: its a movie so bad its good. The movie thinks its good, it thinks its very emotional and even though it thinks it is, its not. Its funny. Its dumb. Its so bad its good.
Final wars can take itself seriously as much as it wants but that doesn't make it a serious movie, because its a dumb movie. Its stupid, and as much as it doesn't want to be, it can change it.
By the way, im sorry if i was rude or passive aggressive before, its the shittiest day of the week so far and every week things just get worse so im always angry lately.

But I do have to ask, what makes Final Wars a "bad movie"? Like yeah, it's got balls to the walls action and sci Fi plots, but that doesn't make it dumb. Just makes it escapism.
It's really not anymore goofy than Tarento and Robert Rodriguez films. In fact, it's in the same exact zone as movies like Kill Bill. Just it's done through Godzilla. Ryuhei Kitamura is basically the Japanese equivalent to those two film makers.
