Doin it live AND in a higher key than the original! A true artist and a great songwriter. Wrote all the hits for The Impressions (Amen, People Get Ready) as well as Let's Do It Again for The Staple Singers and Giving Him Something He Can Feel for Aretha Franklin. RIP Curtis Mayfield. LEGEND!😎✌✊
I was a 17-year-old kid new to Toronto and downtown Toronto they had a cheap theater and this was showing and I have been a Curtis Mayfield fan since then and the whole album is fire fire fire fire😊😊😊😊
Anybody that has the first name Curtis is a badass in my book. 😎 I remember a tune Freddie’s dead. If you have it in your archives please uploaded it. Also If you have any Ohio Players too. Skin tight or Fire. I don’t think I’m asking for to much. 😂
I went through a phase where the only music I'd listen to was Curtis Mayfield. It seemed like there were two kinds of music: Curtis, and music that wasn't as good as Curtis.
The lyrical MASTER! He got cheated out of an Oscar for his score for "Superfly" because Isaac Hayes won the previous year for "Shaft" and they weren't going to give two Oscars in a row to "Soul" musicians.
Best sound track best movie at 19 when this came out and now 71 in 2024 still sounds 🔥 great
A well deserved round of applause. Curtis Mayfield is an amazing musician. May he rest in peace. Cheers! ✌️
This is the perfect embodiment of 70's soul!
This man was just head and shoulders above all his peers. One of a kind. It just kills me that he had such a horrible fate. So unfair, so undeserved!!
Curtis Mayfield is an entire genre of music.
The Funk Master is in the house tonight; love Curtis Mayfield! Superfly is spectacular whew, what a darn groovy groove!👌💃♥️
I love Curtis! That wacka wacka guitar of the 70s soul just gets me! This was one cool tune! 😎💜
Hope the have him playing "Freddie's dead" that's my fav Curtis Mayfield song. 🎶🎵
Love the brother, ❤ so cool👍
MAY BROTHER CURTIS REST IN EVERLASTING PEACE. HIZ MUSIC LIVES ON!!!!

Wow this takes me back. Excellent performance!
He performed this song fantastically on the David Letterman show just months before his devastating injury.
"Superfly" and "Freddie's Dead" was the shit from his body of work.
I love Freddie's Dead, too. 🔥
I'll go for "Pusherman."
All mentioned are more than fine to me. Wanted to add "Billy Jack", "Move On Up" and (maybe especially) "So In Love".
@@marcjacobscontinued9411 Yup. Lots of great tunes with The Impressions.
Pusherman's a good one. He did some other goodies too.
Outstanding.
Power to the people, and respect for the steeple.
Wow those were the great days.
In 1972 I was a little three year old white kid rocking back and forth on the couch to this album.
Saw him at the Paramount in Seattle, opening act The Natural Four
❤ everything about this song!!
As cool as it gets.
How can those kids sit like that? They should be up and shaking it!! Love this!❤

One of the best to ever do it! The 🐐
Curtis was a legend, but he never topped the original studio version of “Superfly”. Sometimes u capture magic once and it never happens again.
🔥🔥🔥
“Superfly.” Somewhere this is bringing back bad memories for Jeff Goldblum.

👓 🎸🖊 👑
How badass are you if you take your song a step *higher* in pitch live rather than a step or so lower?
Shame what happened to Curtis at Flatbush (August 1990). Paraplegic due to lighting equipment not being properly secured.
A lousy break, but he kept on performing from his wheelchair.
👍👍
Ruffo Friends 🐎🏳️🌈⛰️
Is that the first use of green screen on a music tv show?
Great one but you need to enhance the sound volume to today's.

Crowd looks weak….pretty sad
