      “It's making someone seem or feel unstable, irrational and not credible, making them feel like what they're seeing or experiencing isn't real, that they're making it up, that no one else will believe them.” Gaslighting involves an imbalance of power between the abuser and the person they're gaslighting.

    I just don't get how people don't see it. Jones has basically done this his whole career. First, he fights a bunch of middleweights who had already all beat each other for years. Then, he fights Gus (arguably loses) and DC, in which he pops for steroids. After that, he has some questionable wins against Santos and Reyes (he lost 3-2) and doesn't fight for years. Now, he has come back and fought once against someone who couldn't grapple and is avoiding Aspinall by all means. He's also avoided Cain in his prime, Stipe in his prime, Francis and now basically every hard match up at HW there is for a 40 + year old Stipe and yet another former middleweight who can't grapple. He is not the goat but he is the duck.

  • @LarryMayvid
    @LarryMayvid Před 22 dny +8

    I believe that the UFC is working to twist Jon's arm to fight Tom via the interim belt and that letting him fight Stipe first is a part of the strategy. Dana is saying publicly that Jon can do whatever he wants. That does not in any way mean that that's the same way he talks about it behind closed doors. They hate it when a champ leaves on a win. They need the belt to get taken from them so that it has a proper lineage. If they retire without losing or beating the guy who will succeed him, a question is left open - is the new champ really the best in the world? Keep blasting Jon on Twitter and IG, let him know his legacy would be better if he fought Tom and lost than if he didn't fight him at all. And, show some respect for Stipe. It is in no way his fault that this situation was created and he has a real chance. He has better boxing, serious power, and wrestle. As Anthony Smith would say, on paper, scribble over the age and he is a much bigger threat than Francis ever was. Francis had a puncher's chance, a real one for sure, but far less technical and complete of a skill set. You're either unaware of or ignoring his resume if you don't think Stipe has a chance and Jon coming off an injury *could* go a long way in balancing out the age difference (plus, age matters much less at HW). Stipe has also spent much more time in the octagon over the last four years than Jon, and given the duration and extremely low output that happened in the Gane fight, it barely counts for having fought more recently and certainly wasn't enough to shake off any ring rust there might have been. Jon has also never taken a proper punch to the face from a HW in a real fight, and we don't yet know how he will respond. Blast Jon, but trust the process. The UFC will fight very, very hard to get him to fight Tom, and they are playing chess behind the scenes.

    • @MNToThat
      @MNToThat Před 21 dnem

      This is the correct take.
      Jon is using his coping fanboys as a negotiating tool.
      Stipe's 42, retirement age but has put on muscle since the Francis fight (bt his own admission) so I don't think he'll be walked over like most people think
      Jones is 36, that's still prime for a HW

      If the UFC doesn´t pay Jones "whatever" for Aspinall, and then "overpay" him and Stipe, after Jon relinqueshes, or Strip Jon as he clearly doesn´t want to partake in the sport, then something can happen, if they want Jones.
      Jones clearly is playing hard, while he is full of doubt.
      Nothing is as should be, as far as actual conduct of people who care, but made BIG ERRORS and Ego powermongering trips, but are repenting.
      Jones either fights Aspinall next, or he relinquishes the title, and fights Stipe.
      These are not mistakes, this didn´t come out of left field, this is not something remotely debatable. The pay issues and "starpower" comes from the UFC not managing people into athletes that have the league to lean on, only some are portrayed by media as really good, while the rest of the division is being slept on. For the mirage of involvement White shows, nonthing makes sense, none of the steps taken are his. They are a clout company lead by Dana. It was way worse some years back.
      The UFC is a Joke, and the Old Champ and Interim needs to happen first. The consistency and intent, the actual windows are maintained by the fights they make as they make sense per contenders ranks. Themoney splurging and staaying Rich that Dana is used to is just a symptom of an ass not givign a fuck, yet finding his niche. He is smart, but also an asshole.
      Jones aboslutely cannot fight Pereira or Stipe. Not without fighting Aspinall, and then, Stipe cannot fight Jones without an extra fight while Jon recovers in an understandable, legit(!) timeframe. Either do "old man fights", and praise Aspinall and others as deserved, and do note say "The GOAT JONES" is there to take ova´.
      Let jon DO WHAT HE CLAIMS HE IS(!!!) DOING, and clean the division with 2 fights, then Aspinall for BIG money, or go with the fucking black and white meaning of the two belts. The UFC sucks ass, absolutely sucks. No balls on these fighters as people of integrity. They are lost in wonderland and vices. They should be people first and foremost, and ride dana´s ass to town. Cannot be "grateful" to a dictator, as he destroys the surroundings.

    Alex can't wrestle. Jon thinks its the easy fight. Not surprised by this push by Jones to go after the hotter fighter that's more in the spotlight ($$$). But this is where the UFC blurs the line between MMA & pro-wrestling. Jon shouldn't get to pick who he fights when he is champ. Particularly since there is an INTERIM champion out there! I don’t think Aspinall should have to wait in line, he’s been finishing opponents and looking sharp doing it. I don’t see any fights that make sense for Aspinall other than for the belt, I wouldn’t say there is anyone he has to beat to prove he is worthy of a shot.
