The difference between the original DS and the DSLite is insane. They are practically the same except for hardware, and only 2 years apart but the original feels ancient while the DSLite has held up pretty well. I got my Lite in 2008/2009 (after the release of the DSi) and knew a lot of people with one, but I’ve never met anyone with an original DS. I didn’t even know they existed when I was a kid
I had the original ds. Many of my friends had it and it was really nice to connect the two devices without a cable. I had almost every ds.

@@corbinmoore96 nope if you did it carefully, it was meant to have two stages for different preferences of people. my ds lasted pretty long however what killed it was shampoo left in a bag.

I remember getting a dsi xl for my birthday and was super excited playing games on a big touch screen. My favorites were definitely Mario Kart DS and New super Mario bros.
When I was a kid I got an dsi I had a 500 in 1 so I played all my favorite games but then my dsi broke so my parents got me a ds lite I still have it and surprising the 500 in 1 still works
I was not a Nintendo kid back then, since our parents always gave us Playstation and xbox, but now im getting a Dsi xl, It such a great portable console! I enjoy portable gaming more personally :)

@@ElephantsElephantsElephants427 These are facts. The 2 only good things I like about the ds lite, are the screen being more bright and the button placements for Start/Select/Power. Although the Ds Lite really has a slide for the power.

Bought two broken ones a couple of weeks ago and repaired them into one working one, never had one growing up (Had a GameBoy advance SP instead) but I’m loving it!

Everyone is always forgetting this model exists, and I dont know why, yes the DS Lite is a legendary handheld, and the DSI AND DSI XL are also amazing, but the original DS is amazing too, it looks and feels a lot more premium, and it has its own little wrist strap, plus the GBA games don't stick out when you put them in unlike the DS Lite, its just awesome man.
If you think this piece of shit is “premium” you clearly never even touched a Lite or a DSi model. There’s not even comparison in the quality of plastic and material used. Even the buttons feel a lot better on the Lite and especially DSi.
Its bc you cant find them anywhere. I'm sure if you stick your hands in your couch you will find like 6 DS lites.

@@omaralonso2471 I'd say they are pretty common to find on Ebay for a reasonable price, the problem is finding one that doesn't have a broken hinge, broken screens, or some other problem.

I grew up with kids around me always having stuff I didn’t , I remember them all having ds’s consoles toys and stuff , and I barely having any , now that I’m grown up and more money to my disposal and not being controlled by my “video games are from the devil “ mom , I’m in the process of buying everything I ever wanted as a kid , those old LEGO sets aren’t cheap on bricklink but I want my sealed toys (I’m 19 , I just want the childhood I never had , and that includes a ds and some games I wanted to play ) and now this one is just of personal preference but I’ll save to buy off someone an Excalibur prime account , since when the game came out I was still forbidden off of games and I literally couldn’t even play the game

The Flamethrower my first vidiogame was contra I remember it well , but I got it at twelve in 2013 in one of those fake consoles that have like a billion games , one of my uncles bought it for me in my bday, but soon it stopped working but I’m proud that game was my first one
Any parent who thinks games are bad for their kids are either too deluded on what others say on them or uneducated on what they actually bring to the player. I'm so sorry you never got to experience gaming as a kid. You missed out on some amazing opportunities to develop an immense niche for pokemon and Mario kart.

I got the DS Lite (Cobalt Blue) for my fifth birthday.
It was the only present I got, and I loved it to bits, I rarely put it down.
It's what sparked my love of Games today.

Yeah. I wanted a Gameboy Advance SP and I got one... that didn’t work so I got a DS instead. It was used and didn’t have the stylus but it server me well when I was bored in the morning. I don’t know where it is now but I found the charger. It makes me feels bad and regret about how I let it get lost. I hope I find it again one day and find chrono trigger and play. I only had two games (Dogs 2 and Chrono Trigger) but I loved the DS and wanted more games

I had a DS Lite that I am very likely getting back to working order soon, and it's very interesting to see how different the design and charger are. Didn't know the original DS looked so different till recently.
Yes! I owned the classic gray FAT Nintendo DS.
I spent all my time on that thing playing Nintendogs, Warioware, and my old GBA games.
All my good friends had one, so when we hung out we would always mess around on pictochat for a while and played games that could use the DS Local Wireless (yes, it had close range wireless capability). In Nintendogs, if two people were close to each other and both walking their dogs in game, they could run into each other. You could even trade items with other nearby players.

I remember when I got my DSi and got Pokemon white version on it, it was about the only game I had and the only game I ever really played- I explored it so much I spent 400 hours on the same save file just cause I’d take it everywhere with me and play it as much as I could cause I adored it... really magical feeling I wish I could get again

3:10 That Nintendo Ds Strap... I was fortunate enough to have had every edition of the Ds from the original to the first 3ds; However, to afford each one I agreed to sell my old one on ebay. I kept that strap when I sold my original DS, and I would attach it to every new DS I would get. It now sits proudly on my 3ds behind me on my shelf... That little strap traveled with me through my elementary, middle, and highschool gaming years. From 2005 to present :)

I still remember my DSI, my brother used to have the blue DSI XL, sadly, the top screen on my DS broke when i dropped it, and the touch screen on the XL stopped working after a few years of no use.
But atleast i made some good memories with it and im planning on buying another one, same black DSI, to relive my memories.
