  • Today's video is a basic introduction to Fallout 4's manufacturing system that came with the Contraptions Workshop dlc. I'll go over all the parts, how they work, and how to hide all the wires. In fact, the wiring is actually a bonus lesson that I'm calling "Part 2" of this tutorial. Hope you enjoy the extended video!

    My main use for the manufacturing was crafting .44 ammo. Normally the standard vendors would only have a few dozen rounds, and the unlisted vendors like the woman near Fairline Hill Estates still only had 100 shots. With the ammunition plant though I could craft a 1,000 rounds for myself and use that to take on the entire Commonwealth.

    I use the pressure plates in junction with the various "scave stations" as a means of production regulation so there not running 24/7 which also ads some immersion. Looks like a settler is running the line during the work day. You can also set up another vac hopper to turn on when the line is off to pull the unused stuff back out of the manufacture and back into the container or into the workshop.

    A good design I use (IMO) is to have multiple manufacturing plants drop their output into a single hopper from elevated slopes and belts, and that hopper drops items onto a belt that carries it to a storage unit. Then all my stuff just goes to one place! The big hopper is a pretty useful item for collating everything together. It's finicky to set up, but so satisfying if you pull it off!

    From what I have seen (tested), each manufacturing line has to be isolated in a closed loop, meaning they must each be powered by their own generator(s) and not connected to another line (if you wish to run multiple lines at a time) or the terminals will be in conflict with one another and won't initialize the option sequence. For those of us who wants functionality over form, I recommend inputting resources straight into the builder and not wasting resources building a vacuum hopper as it takes way too long to carry from container to hopper and into builder.

    That's crazy cool, has no idea you could do these sorta things in fallout 4. I've been playing like a "simpleton" so to speak. It was kinda fun yet boring.
    This definitely has my intrigued, I may be dusting off the old Xbox one and building wild settlements 🤘

  • @lansygamer2665
    @lansygamer2665 Před měsícem

    I know I'm VERY late, but in my experience, supply lines don't connect the inventories of settlements, it just lets them pull from their junk pools for crafting and building. So if you have a settlement you never do manual crafting at, you can put the vaccume hopper on the worshop to allow for fully automatic crafting.

    Brilliant video. I'm new to Fallout 4. Been playing Fallout since the PS2 days. I love going back to FO3 GotY and New Vegas. However my PoS laptop refused to let me play FO4 even with everything turned down to 0. Finally got a new laptop and I'm on my second playthrough in a month. I did a little building on my first playthrough, but realised I was missing so much when I spotted just how much stuff there is to interact with. My first attempt at manufacturing had my machine spitting out balls all over the lawn. I just left and never went back to it. I knew I would figure it out eventually. Or maybe not. The more I explore the more I have CZcams and the fallout.fandom wiki open almost constantly on my phone.
    I stuck around for the tutorial where you tidied and hid all your wiring and I found this to be super cool and really, really helpful. My place looks like a scene out of madmax. I'll definitely be taking a look at some more of your videos as I progress into the world. Thank you.

    A reliable way to make money of manufacturing is to make cloths cos they only cost clothes, cos give a good amount of caps

      If you just go to the castle, place water purifiers by the dozen, in the water. Place a bed and workshop in the castle armory, you can buy a ton of ammo from the minutemen lady with waters and sleep to reset her inventory and do over and over.

      I have unlimited resources thanks to an exploit I’m using on the achievements run I didn’t side with the Garvy boys so the castle is still unavailable so I just have five ammo plants popping out the ammo and since it’s overstocked I have more ammo then I could possibly need, working on the dlc achievements for nukacola world and far harbor now

    Paul, i'd love to see you do a wall-clipping restoration video of Croup Manor. it's an excellent site for wall-clipping and makes a great example of how to restore a pre-war building.
    [edit] i wanted to suggest that armor, clothing, and weapon mills are really good for outfitting your large numbers of settlers if you are going for themed outfits.

    • @SkooledZone

      Croup Manor and Taffington Boat house are both on my list for restoration! Man I can't wait until I make videos every day. :)

    • @snakejawz
      @snakejawz Před 6 lety +1

      the clipping on taffington is really difficult, but you can re-roof it with the warehouse roof and it looks pretty reasonable, when i did this i added a balcony around the top floor.
      Croup however has a uniquely low clipping rate on the walls and you can actually almost entirely restore it without using the pillar or rug glitches.

    Build a few factories with and without mods (with mod was so i could scrap everything in to its components). Always had a lot of fun building them, figuring out how to wire them so i could sit i my office and control and receive everything.

    I made a gates like this in few of my Settlements as well.
    But I decided with the Inside-only Switch.
    Because if I'm already going to o
    any of the Settlements, I do so thought Fast-Travel (and I have F-T set up inside the Settlements).

  • @montanus777
    @montanus777 Před 5 lety +1

    the vacuum hoppers cannot pull items from other settlements out of the workbench, that are connected via a supply line. it would be awesome if that would work (on the one hand to have all items in one place, on the other hand to lower the chances for attacks in the other settlements), but unfortunately it doesn't work.
