i love watching this. when we go to the beach i just sit or walk and look for shells the whole time. its so addicting 🤗 i just can’t stop myself 😊christy
We were there Sunday! The waves were crashing like crazy but we found SO many great shells. Thanks for sharing your finds! That welch find in the tree was 😎 awesome. Love your videos. Thank you
I remember that whelk! The stump does provide - LOL! I'm happy that you found so many shells. It's been tough to find anything good lately but sounds like you got lucky. Congrats! 🐚
Love the Lightning whelk in the tree. I know this is an old video - but go Sharmon, go! I’ve watched all your new videos, so I’m getting my beach fix, by watching all your old ones. Your videos bring back so many special memories. Thank you for sharing the views, sounds of the waves, and all the beachy goodness with us! You’ve taught me so much. Love your videos!
Thank you so very much! It would probably pain me to watch one of my old videos but I leave them up to remind myself and others you have to start somewhere! 🤣
Love love love the Lightning Welk that you found in the tree!! I felt your excitement because I was so excited!! I think this would be one of the beaches I’d have you take me to. Imagine all the little ones you’d find too!! Thanks for an awesome walk!!!😊🐬
The stump does provide! I knew that shell was buried in one of my old videos but I couldn't remember which one. I hope these winter shells start showing up soon!
Thank you for posting! I was just at Bowmans but didn’t walk to Blind Pass. I put a lot of those concha back into the ocean for hermit crabs and such because I have so many also. ❤️🐚
Soo homesick for South Florida. Take me home to this lifestyle and sunshine that I miss! Winters in Utah are not for me.! Who wouldn't want to live here!?
Thank you for answering my other question the other day. I have another. Is it a rather long walk from parking at Bowmans Beach? My sister will be with me and she has really bad knees and I'm not sure just how far she can walk. Thanks again for the info.
Kimberly Burge Yes - it is a rather long walk from Bowman’s parking to the beach. You will have a short walk from Blind Pass though, so if you’re worried about walking - try Blind Pass and hope for good she’ll piles ☺️
Wow. Favorite beach. Shoot, that's hard. My favorite beaches are ones not lined with condos or hotels, so that puts Sanibel pretty high up on the list, as well as South Fort Myers Beach or maybe Captiva too. If I had to choose between Tigertail or Blind Pass I would choose Tigertail. I've been to Blind Pass a million times and I'll find "some" shells there but the key is really the walking. Keep moving to cover as much beach as possible in order to increase your chances of finding goodies. Tigertail is a much bigger beach (and a lot more walking involved so there's that) and it wraps around to just an inlet so the only other people you'll see there are other committed walkers. Blind Pass is much less walking and more crowded in my opinion, but if you start there and plan on doing a lot of walking you'll probably do okay there too. I hope that answered your question but feel free to ask others!
It's probably about a 5-mile round trip walk. Oh my gosh, I think I find lighting whelks every single time I'm at the beach! I hope you find yours too!
I have a lightening whelk, but It was found in a junk store (antiques) in Missouri. It is a beast, and somebody may have left it in the sun, like in a rock garden for dog years. It has very little color left. It's better than nothing, I guess. I have been told the males have more color / darker in color, too.
Well we started at Bowman’s and walked all the way to Blind Pass and back again. Apparently it’s much easier to find shells in the winter so looking back I probably had beginners luck! Thank you for watching!
Is this walk doable during HIGH tide? Any issues with getting through the water/mangroves/rocks, etc. Low tide might not be an option so I want to be sure I can get from point A to point B. I LOVE your videos!!
This is an older video and I think the shoreline was still clear at the time. Last time I did this walk I was able to get through at low tide, but I have been blocked when the tide was higher. I would say to be safe, try not to go at high tide and just be aware. Otherwise you might be going for a swim to get back!
Wow I’m so glad you popped up on my screen. I’m loving coming along with you. I am soooo envious. I’m moving countries. ❤
We got hit with that nasty Hurricane Ian but we're going to rebuild even better than ever!

Love watching your videos, especially during distancing. One day I’ll make it there!!
I hope you do! And I hope you'll have a good idea what to expect when you visit the different beaches. Thank you for the feedback!

Thank you! Soon as the beaches are open again I’ll be getting back out there!
Blind Pass is always great for shells.

Of all the shelling beaches you have been to what is your favorite? Which would say is better shelling Tigertail or Blindpass?

There are SO many left-handed shells on this beach! I was under the impression they are much rarer than the right-hand ones. Was I in error?
Mona johnson-sanford No you’re right, but lightning whelk are almost always left handed! Good for you for noticing!
How far of a walk is that? Sounds like fun! I've never found a lightning welk yet.

what is the name of 1st sea shell that you are showing from the start of this video. Just before showing scallop you are holding in your hand?
That is a lightning Whelk! I have a whole video about these guys: czcams.com/video/XaI8ihfgraA/video.html
