Christopher Tin, GREAT composer with many amazing pieces. Full Orchestral type, favorite song is Baba Yetu. czcams.com/video/IJiHDmyhE1A/video.html (in case you wanted to do a reaction, its the intro to Civilization 4), it also won a Grammy for Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s)! It's such a great song! Also, all of Christopher Tin's pieces are in a different language.
Jonathan is about as much of a "pure good" character as you can imagine. The "evil" sounding parts of the song represent the embodiment of pure evil that he faces. Those little bits of heroic music really represent Jonathan's determination to stand against evil. And I love how the music plays around with this beautiful, heroic sounding melody all throughout the song and at the end it finally plays it in its entirety and with full instrumentation
Really couldn't have said it better myself. Jonathan'stheme could very well be a way to summarize his entire journey with evil being present in every corner and Jonathan's determination shining through every time.
Yeah, basically what I said but WAY better explained. Thanks
@@shine6465 yeah, and the end.....
He ost similar to his life
I always thought of the theme as swapping between tragedy and triumph to reflect to flow of the fights and his overall journey.
Jonathan is just about as "pure good" as you get in JoJo's. Not an evil bone in his body. The song is more fitting for Jonathan's journey than his character overall. Evil and adversity behind every corner, but he rises against it nonetheless (hence the more optimistic orchestral sections amid all the doom - those are the parts that fit Jonathan himself).
This show sounds awesome
@@DrumRollTonyReacts And this character is the first protagonist shown, so if you start to watch it youâll be straight into the action! Youâll definitely love this show.
@@DrumRollTonyReacts if you ever decide to watch Jojo, weâd love to see some reaction videos. Such an awesome show. Probably my favorite anime.
@@nedmacamden3019 I completely agree, JoJo reactions would be awesome
Basically imo the song is telling about Jonathanâs life. The first part sounds innocent almost and sounds like Jonathanâs life before Dio
And than the âviolentâ parts are telling about Jonathan and Dio rival
Thereâs also a part that reminds me of the mansion fight Where Dio has the power and than Jonathan and than again Dio and back to Jonathan having more power
The song basically tells us the story of Jonathanâs life with Dio.
And of course the last part sounds like Jonathanâs death
Every other Jojo's theme: Describes their personality
Jonathan's theme: Describes his entire life from start to finish
As someone who watched it,I know all of it
Jonathan the most genuine gentleman out there, thereâs not even a bit of evil in that man, heâs just that guy
Wanna know something cool?
Yesterday it was 10 years since the first episode of Jojo aired.
Tecnically still today...
No, you're tecnically right, it was yesterday. Damn it, I'm sad I didn't celebrate it yesterday cause I didn't think about Japan's time

@@SnailHatan they were most likely referring to the version airing right now by David productions, which first aired in Japan, 2012, on the 6th of October
Jonathan is actually the nicest character, I think the âevil feelingâ from most of this piece was made to match everything he has to go through while combating said âevilâ. But usually when he is on screen, the part that plays is that âepic melodyâ
Hey. The second nicest. What about Speedwagon?

The evil parts in this song represents his counter part Dio, which is an embodiment of evil. But Jonathan himself is a pure gentleman which is why you hear heroic type music in this theme. It has around 70% evil music and 30% heroic music. It symbolises the "rising up" of good over dominant evil. Jonathan symbolises the heroic figure who brings hope against the dominant evil. This theme tells the story of Jonathan, his life and his struggles against evil. His heroism, tragedy, sorrow caused by evil pretty much sums up Jonathan's life and this theme captured all that elements.
That part beginning at 11:45 always gives me goosebumps. That whole part shows how noble Jonathan is, a pure soul against evil. I love the other theme, especially Josuke's and the saxophone part of Jotaro's but Jonathan's theme might be my favourite of all the protagonist's themes. Kaykoin's theme (Virtuous Pope) is also up there for me, the violin is just so good.
never watched Jojo but the part you mentioned sounded like a triumphant return by the mc after whatever the villain had rampage
@@parzival5282 Spot on! It's used every time Jonathan manages to take the upper hand or get out of a desperate situation.

The reason why Jonathan's themes (in plural cause he also has another) have this evil parts in them despite the character being pure good, is because his character is really linked to the villain (who's pure evil) and fighting him. And when the biggest and more famous part of the song hits is when he finally overcomes the dificulties.
I love him
Jonathan's Theme, in my opinion, fits perfectly with the character's story. A boy with the desire to become a true gentleman, Jonathan is one of the purest characters. The 'evil' parts represent his struggle and the tragedies that surround his life, as well as being tied to the main villain and his destiny to stop evil. His whole path is a roller coaster of emotions, fights and tragedies. I think this Theme it's the perfect composition for a gentleman.
Also, I love your reactions, can you react to Dio's theme later please? It's so underrated đ
And if you want to listen to Jonathan's Theme without the video below, here I leave the video with only the cover. It's a bit hard to find as it only has the name in Japanese

He really just said "there's no way this character's nice" to the purest Joestar. đ
Read this comment just as he said it, and I agree
Jonathan is the first protagonist of Jojo, the first season is an extremely simple "Good Vs Bad" story unlike the others. Giorno manipulates their opponents into their defeat, Joseph is a master of trickery, Jotaro disrespects anyone who stands against him, Jonathan is just a good hearted man who can sense who is good and who is evil, he sees every battle as a respectful and balanced duel. He's perfect for the first part because Jojo is such an odd and obscure series where you don't know what to expect. So the fact that you see such an ordinary and simple but tense story first thing makes the bizarre things so much better.
And he helps build up the other Jojo's. Knowing that even if some might be a little more morally gray, they still have Jonathan's heart of gold
@@thedirkiestdigg4050 Bro I was literally gonna say that until I realised I rambled, fax everything ur saying
No, Phantom Blood was not that simple. It had interesting and complex characters with gray morals
Manipulation is not a bad idea for real
He lost his mother before he could form memories, he lost his dog from his new âbrother,â and he lost his father from said âbrother,â only to obtain a mentor who he lost shortly after meeting him. His story is about loss and how only the strongest people around can remain kind, caring, and gentle, even until his last breath, he cared about the innocent and those who were closest to him the most. His story is a heroic tragedy, whoâs efforts ended melancholy but still remaining heroic.
Jonathan is the purest of pure good characters.
The confusion about this song is that it _isn't_ Jonathan's theme. He doesn't have a whole song to himself, you can just hear various leitmotivs - in this song and others. And next to it, it also has a lot of different things, including some of the motifs of the pure evil main villain.
The fandom chose this one as the "definitive" theme, but it really isn't that. It's more of a theme for the entirety of Jojo's Part 1.
Kinda like âBucciaratiâsâ from last time
Yeah there arent actually themes for any of them i dont think. For instance giorno and jotaros "themes" are literally named for the whole part they feature in and are used for all the protagonists not just those 2. Its weird
â@@leaffinite2001We have had character themes since Part 3. It's just that the MC's does double duty as the team's theme.
There are ones like æć±ăźäžé (A piece of Stardust) that, since it implies one character, it might as well be Jotaro.
Similar case with the other Jojos.
Except Giorno. _The_ most famous from the entire show is Giorno's theme, which is definitively *not* his.
It's the song called Esperienza d'oro (Gold Experience)

I was just about to check to see if heâd done Avalon yet. I love Every Jojoâs theme, and most character themes but Jonathanâs and Karsâ are my favorites.
4:20 "Is this character evil?" Nah, not at all, he's probably one of the least evil characters in the show lol. The thing is, he's just really epic, confrontational.
It'll make sense when you watch it.
Least evil charater in the show?
Least evil charater in the history of anime you mean.
@@Paradoxicallibility we love a charater
â@@Paradoxicallibilitywhat about tanjiro, or eris in konosuba.
Youâre the only person who actually breaks down the music as in depth as it deserves. Love your videos!
Jonathan's life was surrounded by evil and almost completely destroyed by it, so it would make sense that a part of his theme shows the tragedy taking place around him and him standing back up to fight again.
3:30
My guy don't apologize. I love when you take time to explain your thoughts on each section rather than try to talk over it. Keep up the awesome work
Jonathan himself is not a bad character, in fact he might be the most benevolent person in the entire series. However, he suffers HELL SHIT at the hands of another character that is truly evil incarnate and I think this is what his theme is referencing, the suffering and hardships he endures and has to overcome, that made you think he's an evil guy.
I never realized Jonathan's theme was so dark, but it makes sense, since it plays during his fight, and a lot of Jonathan's fights are against really dark forces, culminating in his conflict with Dio. Most of this theme being devoted to darker "evil" sounds definitely reflects Jonathan's journey, where he's constantly overshadowed by dark, evil people. But the beginning reflects Jonathan's gentle nature, and the triumphant swell towards the end represents Jonathan overcoming his foes.
Looking back, Jonathan's theme really tells his story. Withe the ominous and evil sound being the evil that beats him down, while valiant and heroic sound is him prevailing against said evil. Then it all end with a bang.
This song is epic, Giorno has the piano and jonathan the orchesta
I am really glad you got a sponsor! You deserve it for all the awesome content you have been providing us. Looking forward to more Jojo's OST reaction's! â€ïžđ
Finally Jonathan's theme! I'm so happy and excited, I love him so much
this music is almost a battle itself, "evil" wins in the beggining, and the "good" is constantly fighting until it wins in the end
Jonathans theme is just a godsend, Iâm glad that you enjoyed it as much as I do.
It would really make me happy if you could react to Avdols theme next, itâs one of my favourites overall. Love the jojo reacts! :)
Hey man, I don't normally like music reaction videos very much, but I've come to really like your channel. I like the style of your videos. I really enjoy that you pause and go back, and take the time to really explain your thoughts about the music. Very informative and fun to watch. You've earned my sub.
watching these videos is like hearing the song with fresh ears! there's so many aspects of these songs i can never pick out on my own, so it's really cool to have them pointed out by someone who understands the theory behind it. i never fully appreciated how great this theme was just from watching the show, but now i feel like i have a much better understanding of how much work went into composing such an epic theme. great video!
Wow, I had never noticed that piano by the end there. This is why I've been loving your videos, man!
Thanks for the amaizing content. Your content makes me hear parts of songs I didn't even know they existed.
I love your analyses of these pieces, you really get me to notice all the small details in the compositions, and it's fun to see someone who knows nothing about Jojo try to interpret the characters from their themes. It's also just nice to hear someone musically educated praise my favorite anime.
To really illustrate the insane variety in Jojo's soundtrack, I recommend reacting to "Avalon" next. It's completely different from this piece, but is still technically from the same season. (It is from a different part of the series because the first two parts were combined into one season due to them being much shorter than the others. Don't worry about it just watch the show)
It's finally happening!!!

This is not Jonathan's theme though. There's not a theme specifically for Jonathan and it's always been weird to me how the community just picked it and changed its name lmao.
It does sound when Jonathan does stuff but then again, Jonathan's always doing stuff because he's the main character.
For me this is more like the Jonathan and Dio theme or the Phantom Blood theme since it encapsulates very well the central idea of part 1.
FINALLY đđ Been waiting for this one for the longest time . His theme is epic đ
Jonathan is literally the most good, noble, true hearted character in the entire series. All the darkness there represents the absolute evil that he faces. A darkness so strong, that its influence is felt for generations.
Jonathan is the giga chad of the jojos
he's absolutely ripped
he's a true gentleman
and he's just generally super cool
Your way of breaking down a song is soooooo satisfying. I highly recommend you to check out Eve. His vocal is amazing and very awesome song writing!
Nothing better than listening to your reaction to a great piece of music! Hi from Italy, keep up with the good work!
in fact, he is the "100% good guy". This melody at 11:55 is very heroic, representing first attempt defeating Dio (I think). This piece is more like depicting Jonathan's entire journey, or an overture of JOJO's family vs Dio story.
This theme is the definition of heroism and kind manhood
Jonathan Joestar's theme always makes me feel *HEROIC*
Jonathan is one of the nicest characters in the series, actually. It's kind of a combat theme, and the actual evil theme is meant for the main villain and the zombies he fights.
I personally love your videos đ€ I was in marching band in high school. Started playing sax in 5th grade and marched alto, tenor and bari so seeing someone analyze the music for its composition is amazing to me. I personally would love to see you react to the epic versions of the JoJo themes by Samuel Kim. They are beautifully composed and they're making my 4 year old daughter fall in love with symphonic bands. Love your work!

second video i watch of this guy, and i just know ill binge watch every single anime OST reaction and analysis he has, even if it takes me 5 straight hours
When you stop the video I really appreciate it cause so many others stop the video just to speculate or say something irrelevant, or talk over what they are reacting to
It is pretty crazy he has such an evil theme, because Jonathan's is arguably the most pure good and heroic in the entire series. No tricks, no sneakiness, just some good old fashion strong moral compass and elbow grease is Jonathan in a nutshell. I argue that this isn't just Jonathan's theme, but more rather, Jonathan AND Dio's theme. Through the runs of straight up villainy in music form, you get these brief flashes of heroic and inspiring sounding music, and that's where I think Jonathan lies.
We're waiting for avalon theme too!
Never forget my boy Jonathan. Purest and kindest human being that walked over this earth.
Jonathan: The British Superman.
âSudden Battleâ is a really fun piece of music from the series and one of my favourites. Might be a good idea to watch how itâs used in the highway star part 1 episode, itâs used perfectly there
Something to understand the main character themes is that different sections of the theme are used for different scenes and it's synced up with what's going on.
One of the most melancholic yet heroic theme songs I have ever heard. Jonathan is my favorite Joestar and I have a sneaky suspicion this track played a part in that. I feel like I have never heard this track fully before because I always default back to the last part lol
The music is supposed to be heroic and dramatic, not evil. But a hero combats evil so that may be why it sounds like that
You should do Puccis theme, itâs cool
You definitely consider reacting to this show! I know you would absolutely love JoJo's along with its amazing music
Tony! I have the evilest theme youâll hear in JoJoâŠitâs called âDark Rebirthâ AKA Dioâs ThemeâŠit starts off with the cello and almost has an inhuman feel to it with metallic breathing, a lot of kick drum and plethora of other sounds youâll hearâŠit is one of the shortest themes alsoâŠit is only 2 minutes and 25 seconds longâŠit represents how inhuman Dio has become but also is representative of his hidden abilityâŠit almost has a horror vibe to itâŠbut also a lot of menace
Hayato Matsuo is an underrated genius. I recently watched the anime Les Miserables: Shoujo Cosette, and he also wrote a masterpiece soundtrack for it. My favorite was Jean Valjean's theme
when you think the character is evil but then this happens: 11:21 .
I really loved this part 9:57
This theme matches the progression of the show, with the overwhealming evil and serene good coming in and really shining through
Definitly check out Kars's Theme "Avalon"
To be fair it is a bit confusing because this song isnât really âjustâ Jonathanâs theme. Itâs also sometimes kind of Dios theme at the same time
Most underrated gem in jojo by far, one of my favs!
Johnathan is core of all Jojo's. It's amazing how his theme embodies noble spirit of his bloodline.
Listening to Jonathan's theme is like watching a stage play. Many ups and downs, twist and turns, with a climactic, dramatic finish. Jonathan went up against the ultimate evil, hence the music notes, but he was its direct contrast--a pure soul destined to live a life wrought with strife.
"is this guy evil?"
No, Jonathan is actually THE kindest person in JoJo's, it's just that unfortunate events happen to him, mostly caused by DIO

Hope to see you react to Dio's main theme - Dio's World
This song is more about the life and story of the character as opposed to representing the character itself. Johnathan is the hero archetype. The really goody goody type with the literal strength to save both people from being dropped high up even if he could only pick one and the compassion levels that are described as angelic. He is a gentle and courageous giant. And he faces many terrible things in his adult life started by his wicked stepbrother. Things that make most of the things he did when they were children seem like small potatoes.
Jonathan is the first JoJo of the series, the first to have "bizarre adventures" to be exact. I always get chills when the part that's played the most comes in (11:25 in this video).
Johnathan theme is FIRE đ„
I really love the way you break down the songs and how you explain it in a way that is quite easy to understand, something i would really love for you to analyse is probably some Made in Abyss OSTs mainly from Kevin Penkin. Without spoling Made in abyss is basically an anime where they explore the unknown and the OSTs really set the mood and atmosphere. Kevin Penkin has probably made my favorite OSTs. If you ever going to listen or analyse i reccomend "Underground river" or "Tomorrow".
The progression of the song goes like this
Dedlicate, dark, heroic and then explosive
That is more or less Jonathan life story, Rich gentle boy gets involved in some dark stuff but he comes on top with a heroic swell and that is followed by the fireworks
Tony: "This person's theme souns too evil for him too be good"
Also tony at 11:45 : **Soul Ascending Into The Heavens**
Other themes describe their characterâs respective well.. character and personality. But Jonathanâs theme is quite literally him in music form. A truely kind and gentle soul, yet when he has to face evil he rises to challenge. Not only for himself and those around him, but for pretty much the world (at the time). A truely heroic, and a gentleman.
Also I know itâs been a year or two now, but the concept of evil to Jonathan isnât something that resides within him, instead itâs something he greatly opposes.
Keep going love this video!
To me this is one of the greatest heroic themes ever and it fits Jonathan so well. He is my favorite Jojo and I am glad you get to hear his theme because it is used in show really good!Best theme in Jojo in my opinion
The noblest gentleman has now been called evil, never thought I'd see the day
This is actually not just Jonathan's theme, it is the Jonathan vs/and Dio 's theme
Still gotta do Kars' theme (Avalon)
I feel like this more shows Jonathanâs hardships and everything he went through to make him the tragic hero he is. Love this theme!! Itâs so fitting for his story!!!
MY MAN GOT SPONSORED LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Squadra from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Golden Wind is a great piece of music as well!
i think the evil part is just what goes on in the story /happens to him
Jonathan isn't evil so much as deeply tragic-- a noble boy scout out of his depth in a cruel, unjust world.
Great video as always! I would love to see you react to some of Shoji Meguro's music from the Persona series. Not anime per se, but big brain writing

That's the theme of a tragic hero.
this music is so pure and heroic witch captures Jonathan perfectly
Jonathan Joestar is a pure good, dramatic character that started it all :)
I'd say Jonathan's theme easily tells the entire story of the first part. That includes the explosions.
Jonathan! He was the first Jojo and original protagonist of the entire series. A paragon of virtue, too pure for this world.
