love the sound of magnaflow on a 98 cobra...buddy of mine has 98 cobra with empty glasspacks and they are one of the best sounding cars around in my opinion + they are pretty damn fast even in stock form

Ok I have a 1998 Mustang GT Cobra Clone and I love to death. It has flowmasters that make it sound orgasmic to the ears, but I saw that Cobra sitting there at the beginning of the video and I have to say that is the SEXIEST cobra I have ever seen. These are the kind of cars that you just don't sell. You keep it, don't let anyone drive it, and most of all, baby it like no other lol.

SOOOO...my 98 GT was totalled lol.
So I got compensated and bought a black 1994 Mustang Cobra 5.0. It has 65k miles. Really lucky I was able to get it. It's my second car.
+Hawk 411 How are you liking it? I have a DD '96 GT in Midnight Blue Pearl and a '95 Rio Red Cobra as a second car. They are fun to drive! I have been tempted to sell the Cobra because I do not drive it much but it is mint w/ only 44k miles and I'm afraid I will regret it- I feel they will only go up in value.
RomVlad Man I am absolutely loving it. All of my neighbors saw that I got another mustang and they were even more shocked because it's a big step up from my other car. I don't plan on racing it but I do daily it because why not.
You should definitely hold on to that cobra because they are becoming increasing rare thanks to kids my age constantly wrapping them around trees and basically racing them everywhere they go. Keep it and wax it every week like your life depended on it. It will be worth a fortune in the years to come. You can count on it.

Sounded damn good! I miss my 97! I saw ur comment on my video but forgot my youtube password lol i had 4.30s and also sold it for a 2011! Leaps and bounds ahead of the cobra i got stainless works lt's, catted x, jpc over axles, gt500 ab, airaid and a AED tune. Installing it all this weekend ill post sound clips.

Hey at least in 96 they got the modular 305 hp decent power plant to mod. The reason why I was okay to go with a 96 Cobra not being able to find a terminator I originally wanted. And I'm pushing 493 at the wheels it's a monster when it hooks up lol working on updating the suspension. BBK sound bad ass!!

it is a loud setup but it has very little drone, you notice a huge difference switching from flows to magnapacks. They are loud on the outside, but MUCH quieter than flows on the inside, you can actually hold a convo.

you have a pushrod 302 cam in block motor. he has a 4 cam dohc 281. they will never sound the same

lol, it didnt hurt anything in the slightest, thank you. There is a rev limiter for a reason, and it is perfectly safe to hit it, as its sole purpose is to prevent your motor from over revving. Its a whole different thing to hit the rev limiter for 5 min at a time.

@simonmustang these cars with similar mods as mien run 280-290 rwhp and when its cooler, 50 degrees and below add 10-15hp to that. the 96-98 cobras have IMRC controller issues, you can delete them or zip tie them open, easy fix. google "IMRC zip tie" or "cobra IMRC delete" something among those lines and there is alot of info on various forums. i have quite a few mods, power mods is about all thats left. long tubes, forced induction, rear gears.

How are you hitting rev limiter at 7200rpm??? Mine has fuel cut at 6900rpm and just dies off if I let the throttle just sit there till it hits rev limiter
Tell me about it. My 98 GT used to have a bbk off road X-pipe w/ flowmasters going into dumps right near the rear axle... drone/rasp city. You'd have to keep on the throttle slightly for it to be semi quite inside the cabin otherwise, if you're letting off or getting on it your ears would feel like they were going to start bleeding. Trying to find a nice Cali legal catted X-pipe now since I had to put the stock H-pipe back in due to needing smog... I hate California car laws...

couple questions. i currently have my truck straight piped (no cats, no mufflers) to 2.25 true dual and need some form of muffler, cop-ola's dont like my farm truck in town at the highschool.
1. what size pipe?
2. what size magnapack? 14"? 18"?
3. headers or stock manifolds?

yes, with a tuner.
@tronje2324 there is no such thing as an axle back for these cars, that is only 2005 and up. all exhaust systems for these cars have the mufflers in front of the axle.
Are magnaflow magnapacks the same magnaflow competition series??
Was there anything else you felt the car needed before you sold her? or was that set up close to "perfect" for you?
Doing a Cobra swap in my Black 97 GT along with cobra Front brakes/rotors, the SVE 1/2" lowering springs from American Muscle, along with just regular motorcraft Shocks and Struts. At first I'll be using stock cobra manifolds with an O/R H pipe and Flowmaster 44s then switching to an O/R x pipe with Magnapack magnaflows later on, both dumped at the axle.
Any tips or pointers are BEYOND appreciated!
TenchFries good luck with the build. I would have done long tubes if I still owned the car and went with a provider. at least that was the goal before I sold it. but it sounded great.

incorrect its called the red zone bc your not to touch that zone bc every second your in it forget 5 minutes your putting added stress on the rod and main bearings. 5 min or 1 second doing it 100 times is the same thing then when you wander why your rod snapped into the cylinder ?
I agree H pipe for the gt X pipe for the cobras.

@sparky98cobra in my opinion a chambered muffler should never be on a 4v motor. putting magnapacks on your car it will sound HEAPS better inside and out, and they wont drone like the flowmasters. An X pipe is really the way to go with magnapacks or stingers, but it will sound some what the same but obviously with the tone of an H pipe. From my experience an H pipe with magnapacks will sound slightly more choppy than a X pipe around 2,000-2,700. the magnapacks really scream above 2,700rpm
No longer have the car. Bought a 2011 GT. Had long tubes on it. Motor blew up. Put a forged motor in and its twin turbo now. Look at my other videos.

when i took this video the motor had about 5k miles on it. that car changed drastically for the year + that i owned it. put about 3k $ into it, replacing most of the wearable parts/hoses/maintenance and adding mods. off road x/magnapacks/msd coil packs/ wires/plugs/ CAI/ IMRC delete/ tune /next mod was gonna be 3.73's and a 100 shot, but i sold it for a 2011 GT.

I like my offroad bbk H (96 Cobra with magnapacks) but I will say that X is the way to go for lower ets for a few reasons. after 2500 rpm the h becomes non functional and you basically have straight pipes, with a non chambered muffler and no cats you lose TQ and also the X functions throughout the rpm range causing a scavenging effect when the gasses merge...Ive never heard that an H is more raspy than an X. It has a deeper sound more like classic muscle where X is more exotic tuned sounding.
