What I love about this suburb that you guys went with it is densely populated with Asian people which is the most amazing food ever I would totally move there and eat good everyday lol.
Since I’ve moved to the northern suburbs of Melbourne. I’ve only just discovered Lebanese food, and trust me I’ve been making up for it absences in my life 😂
Oh I love Yum Cha! Dim Sum! Cheung fun and sticky rice in lotus leaf and shrimp dumplings and radish cake and stuffed tofu skin rolls are my favourite. But so many others! Love it when you go to a place with smiling kind elderly aunties rolling the carts around and serious uncles filling the teapots. Don't know why it is like that but I am used to it. Pro tip - sit near the kitchen. Favourites get snapped up by people rushing the carts (if it is that kind of spot). Avoid the random trays of dishes sometimes being offered by waiters - they tend to be kind of left overs. Order fresh if you want noodles or greens. Of course not every spot has the carts - those are the big places. Ordering from a menu is totally normal too. But the cart places are an experience and are becoming less common. And try to go with some friends and family so that you can order a lot to try!

Used to love this dim sum place but after visiting once during covid, got freaked out and never went back. 2 of our cups and plates were dirty and the waitress just brushed it off as normal. Also wasn’t comfortable with the waitresses continuing to push the carts around, talking over the food to try to sell the food to customers.
Mom always said u know how good a place is by the ha Gow: -is the skin thin and does it remain intact(shows its not over-steamed) - are there actual decent sized shrimp inside that taste fresh and not just ground up shrimp That shows a place cares and makes their own fresh, not mass produced dum sum.
