*Part 1* KAL Petite Knit Cumulus Tee (starting the body)

- This is a video showing how you can start out the Petite Knit Cumulus Tee by using the M1R, M1L increase method AND the KFB method.
You’ll need your yarn, needles, 8 small stitch markers and your Cumulus Tee pattern which can be purchased on Etsy and Ravelry.

You are an excellent teacher/ instructor!. I have been knitting scarves, headbands and anything flat because I am really afraid of tackling garments such as tees or sweaters. Recently I came across one which I thought looks doable as in small, beginner friendly tees and one that is suitable for where I live, Malaysia which is hot 365 days. But oh MY!. Not as easy as it seems because the yarn used is Lion’s Truboo which splits and frayed the more I do, undo and redo. I really wanted to give up until this particular video came to the rescue. Your words of encouragement especially to be patient dealing with this kind of yarns and intricate M1L & M1R plus treating the project as fun (vs I wanna throw my needles away😢). Thank you.

This 'saved my bacon' as we say in England. I have knitted a couple of things by Petite knit and so find their patterns easy usually but this one made no sense and I was well and truly stuck ! This video meant I could continue and I loved the pacing. Thank you .

I'm so glad I found this video! Reading the instructions as written, I couldn't figure out how the markers were supposed to be placed, and what was going on with the raglan stitches. I kept doing my set-up row and ending up with 3 or 4 extra stitches at the end that I didn't know what to do with. This video is so clear and explanatory, I'm finally making progress on this sweater!

Can I use the videos from the Kumulus Tee pattern to exactly knit the Kumulus blouse? Except the sleeves of course :)
@Lena-uq2td I honestly don’t know. I’ve never looked at the blouse pattern, so I don’t know if there are differences or not. I’m willing to bet they are very similar though, but I am not 100% sure on that so I wouldn’t want to steer you the wrong way.

Thank you. After the first row of increases, I knew something was wrong with my stitch markers. A simple sm would have helped in understanding the pattern. 😅

I just began this tee 2 hours ago with the same yarn in another colour and i just bought the same needles you have, because i thought it was a good idea. Well... I really regret it. The yarn ist not only that splicey, its also VERY slippery. I cant work with the needle tips because it just comes off the needle so quick. I think a wooden needle would be easier to work with, because it would have more of a "grip" on the needle.
i knit portuguese style by the way and for the M1L i get the yarn from the behind with my fingernail. That works great
Yeah! 😃🤩Someone that knits like I do. I’m Portuguese by the way 😂. Sometimes I’m confused because we don’t knit the stitches in the same way as the continental or English style. My mother used to knit the English style. So difficult for me 😂
@@ptoste1 my mother taught me when i was a child. We are turkish, but we knit that way. In portuguese style the purl stitch is very easy, i like that. I even knit a sweater inside out in times, i thought, the purle is easier than the knit stitch... then i turned the sweater, it was cool. But its not easier. I just do it not the way my mom did

I’m not a really experienced knitter but thot this sweater looked fairly easy but found the instructions a little confusing. So when I found your tutorial I was sooo happy! I’m following your instructions but I’m wondering why in my pattern it has 6 stitches instead of the 2 you’re doing in the raglan? Thank you so much!
Thank you for this video! Can I ask what cast-on you used? I can’t quite envision where this row will sit in the completed sweater, so I’m not sure whether a special cast-on is required. I don’t want to end up with a visible line through the middle of the shirt. Thank you!
Hello, this is a question about the row counter that you used on your wonderful Sophie scarf tutorial. I have looked on line and haven't been able to find one? The one you used looked great, just a click. it didn't look like it used a battery and the numbers were simple and clear. I hope it isn't out of line to ask. Thanks

I feel like Petite Knit patterns aren’t “patterns” more like recipes. I often have to take time to try and understand the pattern
Agreed.😂 I am currently knitting my second PetiteKnit pattern, the zipper sweater. It comes with 10 pages of instructions, I have unpicked the collar 10 times, the German short rows and m1 l and m1 r 3 times, and now, with markers placed correctly, and, wonder of wonders, the correct number of stitches, I’m actually knitting the yoke🤗. I had the same ‘fun’ with the slip over, persevered and it turned out well. But, to get one’s head around the instructions is a real brain bender. 😁
Came across this tutorial very helpful just 1 questions pattern calls for 2.5 us needles but you’re using size 2us instead is it because you got gauge with the 2?
It’s honestly because I didn’t want to have to buy a new set of needles. I’ve tried the top on so far and it fits well and will fit even better after blocking, so it worked out. If you already have the needles the pattern calls for, I recommend using them.

What is the paper you use to keep track of rows/counts?
Thank you very muuuuch for this tutorial! I'm trying to knit one cumulus tee for my boyfriend in the size XL but it's not very clear to me how many stitches and rows should I knit :(. I started with 59 sts instead of 54 (like you did in this video), but now I don't know how many rows and stitches do I have to make until I move to "Part 2" of the tutorial? Also, is there any way to make the t-shirt with a round neck and not V-shape?

Hi there. I’m at work right now, so I don’t have my pattern in front of me, but when I get home I’ll give it a look over to see what it says. Also, it’s written specifically as a v-neck, so I don’t think it can be altered to make a rounded neck. I’m sorry.

Would it be possible to knit this tee without buying the pattern? Just by using your series of tutorials. I’ve been wanting to try out one of their patterns, but I’ve also heard bad things about how the patterns are written which makes me pause on buying one.
I completely understand. That’s exactly why I did this video because the pattern from Petite Knit was really hard to understand for me. You can definitely follow my tutorial, but I really recommend the pattern because that’s where you’ll get your size breakdown for all your stitches to cast on and measurement. Tell you what. For the record, I’m usually a medium in tops, so I knit the medium size, but I feel like a large would have fit me better. Anyway, send me an email and I’ll take care of you.

I don’t know if you will see this, but I’m a little bit confused by how you placed your markers. You knit across the row as you place them, but the directions tell you to place all the markers after the initial purl row and then begin knitting and increasing. Am I missing something?
I just did it that way because it made more sense to me, that’s all. 😊

I am making the cumulus blouse, the directions are the same, just the count is off. I am using a worsted weight yarn and my gauge calls for size 8 needle.

Tynn line by Sandnes Garn is yarn name Tynn line this is the yarn which she used and yarn is fro. Sandnes Garn, Garn meaning yarn in danish
Does this mean that m1r and m1l are interchangeable with kfb?
In my knitting world, they are. ☺️ And that’s exactly what I used and my raglan shoulder seams look fantastic.

You may be knitting the Cumulus Blouse. I believe that’s a worsted weight project. The Cumulus Tee calls for size 3mm or a US 2 1/2 needle.
The ‘if it’s easy you probably didn’t do it right’ feels so unnecessarily anxiety inducing. It’s not hard, especially if you use the other needle to help lift the stitches up a bit and make more room on the side you need to stick your needle
Very helpful but “splicing” is putting yarn together. Splitting is what you mean to say 😂

I'm working on this sweater with some silk yarn and it's terrible with splitting. Splice just sounds like such a perfect combination of split and slice, how can that not be it's proper meaning???
