Why? I have it and if the whole body had the “Ink Effect” then I feel it would have been too much. It is not very noticeable until you put it in bright light.
Not sure where you are getting your information about the engraving/printing - when I touch the logo I can’t feel anything because it is engraved (there is nothing raised to “feel the printing”). All these editions feature the original logo *engraved* on the cap, dating back to 1924. The clip featured in the collection is a homage to the many different Montblanc clip versions that existed during the 1920s.
touch information comes from the fingers. anyone with the pen in their hand can check for themselves, and maybe not all pens are the same. i expected engraving and received raised print. but either way, sensitive fingers can feel the edge of the engraving or the print. if you don't feel anything, try your camera phone light, parallel to the surface. like the sun on the earth. dawn shines first on the raised mountains, and shines last in the canyons.
@@unboxingmontblanc4956 I also have this pen but OK maybe my fingers and or pen are different from yours. However I use a 20x loupe with proper lighting for inspection but nonetheless if you check the Montblanc catalogue you will see that they specify the logo as being engraved. I for one appreciate the offerings from this release and look forward to seeing their future releases.
Yes, a bit underwhelming for a centenary 'celebration' - looks like there wasn't much to celebrate, esp. with the mismatched resins in cap and barrel and the printed branding - the latter will rub off over time! Would have been nice if it at least had a MOP star on cap or housed in a lacquer wood box like their patron editions... not worth the price in my opinion and it seems MB felt the same way in their slapdash approach to this pen. On the positive side the 149 nib size is their flagship size
According to the Director of Writing Quality they have many projects and events scheduled for this celebration and will have new releases throughout the year. All these editions feature the original logo *engraved* on the cap.
@@dimitridiakovasiliou2453 Looks like there are exciting things to come! I am a big fan of MontBlanc and was surprised that they would start the celebration by releasing such an unremarkable pen. it would have been better to wait and release something that does celebrate 100 years of business.
@@gky7170I've long been a fan of vintage Montblanc fountain pens and am now appreciating their more modern offerings. There's a certain understated elegance to these releases, drawing inspiration from Montblanc's rich archives and showcasing their enduring heritage and craftsmanship. Since most boutiques are sold out and finding it “very difficult” to keep up with demand I would say that this is an indicator of a widespread appreciation for these releases. And therefore seems unnecessary to do 'better' when there's already a dedicated audience eager to acquire pieces from this collection. Perhaps these pens are specifically targeted towards collectors. Let’s hope their next releases are more to your liking.
It's a nice pen. I suppose most were hoping for more. The box is quite underwhelming especially considering the cost, even if most of us either chuck it away in a corner and never to be seen again.
Hello, do you have any information about the Montblanc fountain pen by Wes Anderson scheduled for May 2025? Is it just a prototype for now? Or is it already the final version along with the price? Or is it just a baby pen in green and yellow, will they change the coral logo color to another color that better matches the pen?
I would have been happy with a modern platinum-trim 149 with the released 100 year nib and a special or limited edition with a bit of a nicer two- tone nib. But what we got was somewhere in between. And if they insist this is the totality of the origin collection releases, yes, my enthusiasm is low.
@@unboxingmontblanc4956 But did you pay the full retail value of the pen with your own money? I’m confused by your review. If you are so underwhelmed by the release, then why did you purchase it?

I wish they would release some more skeleton style 149 like the 90th anniversary....... Because this is underwhelming, the design is not coherent especially that clip doesn't look like it belongs to 149.
I think they will release in phases, they sense these 149 and 146 are not big hits, so they want to get them out of the doors first, then in late 2024 release the limited and special editions in time for Christmas. If they had anything better, i would not have gotten this fountain pen.

A horrible looking pen--a Frankenpen! That cap is particularly hideous, with that Pilot-style clip. Really--is this the best they could do to honor their flagship pen? A Montblanc fail.
Absolutely horrible and ugly and disappointing. The 90th anniversary with gold nib was beautiful this hundredth anniversary version is obnoxiously ugly and the engraving on the barrel with the MMM is obnoxious. What a total disappointment.
Why is just the cap marbled? Why not the entire pen? Looks like they forgot to make the body and just threw the cap on a standard pen.
Why? I have it and if the whole body had the “Ink Effect” then I feel it would have been too much. It is not very noticeable until you put it in bright light.
On the other hand I love this pen! I was able to secure mine today. It is quite hard to get this pen in the United States.
I’d really enjoy a video of you changing the clip to a standard 149 design, or swapping the anniversary nib onto a standard 149 body.
I think putting the nib onto a standard body is easy, but is it really something people want to see?
@@unboxingmontblanc4956 maybe I’m alone in that…

It commemorates 100 years of Montblanc, not the 149 which dates from the early 1950s. You should have bought the regular 149.
