- Wrapping your head around biology is becoming easier for students at Arizona State University - because learning basic biology is now an experience that can be literally wrapped around a student’s head.
Simply by donning a headset and some sensors, ASU students enter a highly immersive virtual reality world - a learning environment that fills the 360-degree space around them. The vivid landscapes and strange creatures they encounter have the verve and polish you would expect from Hollywood moviemakers. But the lessons and problem solving the students face when immersed in VR surroundings are grounded in the facts of hard science.
This is Dreamscape Learn - a partnership between ASU and Dreamscape Immersive. Harnessing the power of this platform, ASU President’s Professor Michael Angilletta, School of Life Sciences, set out to create the best biology class the world has ever seen. The design principle of losing the present in the camera or setting another era or education is a great gift to humanity that is always warmly welcomed.
This sounds very interesting; does it replace any “hands on” experiences ie dissection or lab?

ASU has a laptop loan program that helps students complete their coursework, as well as public computing sites on campus for any IT resource need. (lib.asu.edu/laptops).
