Yes, I think she decided that in the end it was too much effort and started snacking instead 🤣

I’m curious since Orangs are arboreal why are there not more “tree like” climbing apparatus in so many of these zoos? I see one here but the rock face does not seem intuitive for them. I love Orangutans 🦧 so much I just would want them to have as close to their environment as possible. Thank you for sharing these videos ❤

Thanks so much, they do seem to spend more time on the ground. They do have 2 large outdoor enclosures that have more trees in them. I suppose that because they know they have no predators here they feel safer on the ground than they do in the wild. 🥰

I agree. Some tree-like structures near the rocks would help. I found it painful to watch Hillda’s struggles. In the wild, mom wouldn't be climbing cliffs, she would be swinging from tree to tree with Hillda. 🦧😢

The zoos Ape Tracker visits have TONS of climbing stuff available for all the great apes. But not every area in each video features them. Aside from the "rocks", this showed ropes, what looks like canvas lines, nets, and the fencing.
These zoos and sanctuaries go above and beyond to give these amazing animals the best lives as possible in captivity. I hate they get so much hate. Especially considering what they do for conservation as well.

After many years of observing apes and reading comments, I believe the “ape fans” have intuitively gathered information about what apes 🦧 want and need! Zoo workers would be wise to carefully consider the wisdom of their comments!🤔

That’s so wrong! They could at least put holes in the rock so they can climb it safely 😢

She’s a good mom she’s teaching her everything she needs, they use trees, ropes, etc, to move around every organtan learns from mom, just like we teach our children
