PS3 Super Slim Power Fix

- PS3 Power fix green light turns on then seconds later PS3 shuts down no bleeps or lights. Half way through making the intended video the PS3 expectantly started functioning correctly. Ive tried to explain what i think is happening.
Please take caution opening a power supply with mains voltages exposed unless you know what your doing. Also be carful touching the exposed power supply even if the mains voltage is disconnected. the capacitors may still hold a charge enough to give quite a shock. Trust me! - Hry
Old video I know but for most people it’s actually the RSX chip underneath having dry solder joints.
Not really worth fixing unfortunately as reflows have a rare chance of being successful.
Easy way to rest is to put pressure on the top left corner whilst turning your ps3 on

My ps3 super slim has a turn on then immediately turn off issue I have it broken down as of the video above just can't afford to fix it. Didn't think about it when I had a job before the pandemic only allowed me to see, but it cuts off after two seconds when I first unplug the power the reconnect the power the red light is on when I press the power button it cuts on for additional 2 seconds the repeat the steps 3 seconds. I wonder if it's the mother board
In my PS3 green light is showing but the n after 10 second it shows red light and the light turns off automatically what's the problem can anyone help

hi i see what u did and thats a tumsup,,,,,,,,,,but my problem is my ps3 slim somtimes it turn on than turns off i tried few times after a few tries it turn on than it works than i play my games.and when im finesh i turn it off but the moment i want to play it again than that happens again...what can that be sure
The thing with this problem is power suppl😢. But solution is simple keep pressing it back on . Just for 1min or15sec continuously it wil suddenly go chase up.
For me, when my console is horizontal it goes Red, Green, Shuts off, but when its Vertical the disc spins and i hear the fans, When its horizontal it doesnt spin the disc nor do i hear the fans
I have this kinda similar problem with my super slim, after i power her up she turns off immediately but if i do pressure with the palm of my and on the backleft (where those capacitors are located like in the picture of the end of the video) of the console chassis she doesn't power off, i also saw that it could be the capacitors desolding from the PSU board, any ideas?

I had high hopes for this working for me, but I still can't get it to power on regardless of how I manipulate the terminals on the psu. I may just buy a new psu
Hi! Im breaking my head with the same issue, which metal part should i squeeze to make better contact? All 3 should touch each other? Or the little one does not have to touch
On the power supply the main connection point to the motherboard. The two pins on the motherboard push into the psu.
I stripped down my PS3 super slim, cleaned it out and followed your video. I found that I'm getting 5.4v stdby voltage and then it shuts down and the 12v drops down. What would cause the pins to lose it's 12v ?
likely because the power supply is not seeing a load, so it shuts down. there is a control 5 v that the console returns to the power supply. In the first part of the video it's the return voltage that I applied back to the power supply by having a mobile phone charger. in the second part I figured that there was bad contact being made with the 12v pins that was causing a low load situation
If the 5V return voltage is the problem do we just need to get a new power supply? Leaving a phone charger hooked up to the PlayStation isn't ideal I think
mine shows green light and powers off after 2-3 seconds...will try it out. i was thinking its heat and dust, so i dissembled it and cleaned it all, then applied a new thermal paste and same result. but am hoping this vid helps me. Just to be sure, all i have to do now is push the two pins together in other to get an adequate power supply? yes?
Yes this is to make sure you have good contact between power supply and motherboard. May or may not fix your issue. Good luck. Post an update.

@@redhatterful i did it but same result. but now am trying to connect a 5v usb to the 5v port of psu .. would that help? or do i need to connect a 12v adopter to the 12v port of the psu aswell ?

possibly your problem is due to the voltage protection circuit within the Psu. New psu or see new links in my public comment

My super slim is doin the same thing, I just put on a power supply I bought from ebay and it is still doin the same thing. Did ya ever get yours to work?
Hi there just wanted to say thanks, I had the same issue and have fixed my ps3 by using cocktail stick to tighten up the posts. I suspect it's caused by overheating as it died at the end of a mammoth 11 hour session

I have heard of power problem on Ps3 super slim, as regards the power IC on the main board. Please Can you throw more light on that issue and how to resolve it.

This link is not PS3 related however the power supply in the ps3 is very similar to the one described and if you know what you are doing, attempting a similar hack may revive your Console. Ill look into this if I find a fix ill be posting a video.
