The Book of Boba Fett is laughably terrible

  • It honestly pains me to say that this show fell completely flat. I would think even modern Lucasfilm would have enough care to treat such a fan favorite character like Boba Fett with the care he deserves, but that's apparently asking too much.

Take Avatar which uses the Book style with seasons being called books and episodes called chapters. They had an episode with no Aang, Katara, Iroh, Sokka or Toph. It was just a Zuko episode called Zuko Alone. It works because Zuko is not only a main character but his time alone is crucial to his development which later impacts Aangs development when Zuko abandons the Fire Nation to teach him.
Here, Grogus training contributes nothing to Boba. Mando learning about the beskar spear and about Bo Katan contributes nothing to Boba. You can have those chapters that go off but they need to then be relevant to the plot of the main character.

Boba Fett is thin, wiry, cunning and totally cut throat. Not a big bulky old man who literally struggles to stand up from 1 knee. I can't imagine him allowing people to give him first aid let alone dress him. He would have either escaped or killed the sand monster before killing the CHILD they had enslaving him (wtf??) and then he would have gone back to the raiders and killed them all to get his armor back before leaving that shit hole forever.
Also the angsty scooter teens were pure cringe and my eyeballs rolled to the other side of the galaxy.

I mean, I get what the show was trying to do, trying to make Boba into a better person... it was just executed bad. Like I'm all for Boba being a good person, since he isn't really a villain. It's more so that he only really does "evil" things when someone either double crosses or pays him. Boba believes in honor, not senseless fighting. That being said, I'm disappointed that we never got to see that part of Boba, just filler fetch quest boba in the present.
It's quite obvious that they are setting Boba up to be the actual perfected ruler of mandalore since his "finding his true path" was literally what the armorer had said, word for word. This is what happened in the eu and I wouldn't be surpised if Boba of all people is the one to survive to the sequel trilogy as the leader of mandalore. They are trying to establish him as a better leader than all of the other people that could have it: Din already has grogu... he doesn't care if he loses the saber, Bo-Katan had already failed before, and Sabine just doesn't want it.

@A 23 M. Because insulting an actor for their teeth and looks is just low? Morrison damaged his upper front teeth about a decade ago in a motorcycle accident. We're here to talk about the atrocious story and characterization of the BOBF, where as you're making us look bad by resorting to petty physical insults.
      1. They use stuntmen for the extreme fights and stunts for legal and safety purposes. If we're not getting good scenes in that domain its not because of Morrison, its because Jon and his choreographers haven't developed any for the stuntmen to preform.
      2. Boba lived a hard, hard life, has acid burns and lived under 2 suns, he's not young, he's a middle aged man, being played by an older middle aged man who naturally has an older look due to his injuries. If he were in his 20's and early 30's i'd agree with you.
3.Morrison got fit again for the role. He has a strong, big Polynesian build. You can see him and stuntmen working out in BTS material. He's gotten even fitter this year too.
      4. It doesn't matter what he looks like, If the writing is shit, if the stuntmen and choreographers have no material from Jon and Dave to actually work with, it will suck whether he is bulky or skinny or has shiny teeth.

      I agree.
The fact that it did start talking about other stuff really through off this shows groove. But more than that, a lot of people are confused about the philosophy and identity of all these characters. Especially the Jedi. So when people want to pick apart the Jedi way, they criticize based on their misunderstanding of it, bc this writers just didn't care to explain what the heck is happening with Luke.
      (Sorry this is long)
A lot of people forget what was said in the prequels and that there is a difference between attachment and love. *(Check out Thor Skywalker's 3 videos on the topic.)* They gave friends and parental figures within the order but no attachment just means don't cling and don't have favorites, and Anakin failing to do this is in my opinion bc Obi wan was unprepared to be a teacher, and didn't teach the Jedi way well. Attachment implies unhealthy clinging to something/ someone, or putting your feelings above the mission (not implying lovelessness). The ability to let go is not "be emotionless" it's "manage your emotions". Anakin messing up doesn't speak for the entire order. Compassion which is defined as unconditional love is essential to a Jedi's life, and Luke displays that Jedi can and do care for others but "attachment" (the inability to trust in the force) is what nearly gets him killed in ESB, and he eventually learns to put his mission above his feelings. He fears for his friends and nearly kills Vader but remembers his mission.

I hope they flush out his character more and how he changed in the next season. They didn't give him nearly enough dialogue or exposition to fully get his intentions across, but Boba has always been a cold and distant character. He always does a lot of internal processing shown through shots without dialogue. Using context clues and tone/direction helps the viewer understand. Obviously some people didn't pick up on this and it makes me sad the show isn't appreciated more 😔

Yes, thank you! I'm tired of people heaping Robert Rodriguez with ALL the blame. It was a bizarre show top to bottom -- writing, directing (that chase man... oof), the utterly bizarre structure of completely shifting to Mando in the last third only to then switch AGAIN to "The Jedi Show", even the odd way Ahsoka and Luke acted given their respective "the Old Jedi Way was kinda bad" and "maybe attachments are a saving grace" character arcs only to inexplicably 180 with "let's try the same thing again!", and everything else in between.
    ______________
BoBF features Fett doing nothing but just rolling over for literally everyone which is so at odds with him talking back to Vader, demanding his armor back, ruthlessly killing Bib Fortuna. Every idea or tactic comes from one of his allies -- Fennec says to do this, Fennec says to do that, the Mod Squad Mos Vespa gang says to stay there, Mando says "this is the way." The only time he comes up with an original thought is "like a bantha." So... uh... there's that.
Not only that, but he just lets everyone else walk all over him and he takes EVERYTHING at face value. He's honestly shocked to learn that the Pykes killed the Tuskens. Are you shitting me!? Literally the one real major character trait we learn about Boba Fett in the OT is that he's cunning as fuck. When even the Empire loses Han, Fett is the *only* one to correctly surmise Han's game and track him to Bespin. In BoBF, he can't even put 2 & 2 together to conclude that the crime empire he JUST stole from AND let everyone go free from was behind it just because they left behind conveniently placed graffiti? Come. On. And then the criminal bosses?
FETT: Hey could you guys join me?
    BOSSES: lmao no.
FETT: Pretty please? I even have a wancor.
    BOSSES: no dude.
FETT: Okay okay, fine! Gosh. Could you like, at least pinky promise not to betray me?
    BOSSES: Uh sure, yeah.
FETT: Well that settles things. They all seem like fine, upstanding, trustworthy gents.
SHAND: Yep. And also no one will get to us, we're perfectly defended.
    FETT: Great.
DROID: They got to us, we're not perfectly defended.
    FETT: Fiddlesticks. Who was it?
DROID: You're never gonna believe it, but get this... it was the criminal bosses that *promised* not to betray you!
    FETT: *surprised pikachu face*
WASH: Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!
    _______________
Honestly, just to sum up how incredibly insane the lack of basic plot structure is... even with ALLLLL the other mounds of bullshit, they could have salvaged something at least vaguely resembling a plot at the end. They even had a few options!
    1. Cad Bane confronts Fett. Reveals the Pykes killed the Sand People thinking it'll be some revelation. Fett gestures around and goes "why do you think I did ALL this?" Bane furrows his brow. "To bring the Pykes to me." Then the entire reason for taking over Jabba's criminal empire becomes a long con to get revenge on the Pykes. Sure, we still wouldn't really understand why he felt a kinship with them -- maybe they remind him of Mandalorians? I mean, this is a show that devoted like 5 minutes to a Wookiee bizarrely attacking Trandoshans which is never really explained and relies on you knowing the expanded universe lore of Trandoshans hunting and enslaving Wookiees; and never takes a minute to explain what spice is until a vague scene with Vanth in the *second to last episode.*
Okay, but Boba is an idiot and doesn't know, so what now?
    2. Cad Bane confronts Fett. Reveals the Pykes killed the Sand People. He then lets that sink in for a moment and adds. "Who do you think they hired to slaughter those savages?" before smiling that toothy grin. So now we know Cad Bane is *directly* responsible for the deaths of Boba's adopted Tusken family. He has a tangible connection to the plot of the show, ties the Tuskens back in (you know... like a STORY!) and becomes the main antagonist. So then when Boba does the thing with the stick -- you know, the stick thing, the thing he did cause Tuskens... NOW it's got SOME ounce of poetic justice, no? I'm not saying it's good. It's like... high school creative writing but for a simple western revenge story, that works well enough!
Okay, but no, deciding to make things make less sense and not do that, they still had ONE... FINAL... chance for any semblance of basic story telling.
    3. Cad Bane confronts Fett. Reveals the Pykes killed the Sand People. For whatever reason, Cad Bane is ultimately unimportant and his role could have been fulfilled by literally anyone, existing or brand new, but he at least served to reveal that the Pykes were behind the deaths of Boba's adopted family; a family he thought he had already laid to rest and gained vengeance for by killing the biker gang. Now he knows the truth. So he gets revenge on the ones truly responsible for the Tuskens' deaths.
    lolno, Fennec does that lmao
    SO WHAT WAS THE ENDING!?

Also hear hear on not just blindly following Filoni/Favreau. Blind love and blind hate are absolutes and as we all know... only Sith...
I love what Filoni's brought to the universe (originally alongside George Lucas himself though, let us not forget). I think the Lucas/Filoni+TCW Writers dynamic really balanced things out. Lucas is SO genuinely creative but sometimes his choices can be... odd... to say the least. But he also never ever ever plays things safe. Left to their own devices, Filoni and the TCW writers almost assuredly would have done everything safe -- no Mortis, no weird droid adventure on a white sand world with an orange sky, no purple and yellow lava world, maybe not even Ahsoka -- the crucial element that vastly improved the Prequels (said as someone who always enjoyed the Prequels anyway) -- because kneejerk reaction is "Anakin? Padawan? Pft, no way." I mean, that's what a LOT of people literally did when she was introduced, myself included.
TCW's most creative episodes, I guarantee wouldn't have existed without Lucas's imagination. Conversely, those best episodes likely may have landed a bit flat for the majority of us had Lucas not bounced those ideas back and forth with Filoni and company. But Filoni & Favreau are NOT infallible just like Lucas clearly wasn't, and just like Robert Rodriguez isn't the sole person responsible for "ruining" BoBF since he didn't *write* the fucking thing! lmao

I guess they wrote them to go along with the no attachment to set up Luke's failure, but imo it shows that the writers know just as little about no attachment as the audience.
This show is very rushed anyway, so when people want to pick apart the Jedi way, they criticize based on their misunderstanding of it, bc this writers just didn't care to explain what the heck is happening with Luke.
A lot of people forget what was said in the prequels about the difference between attachment and love. *(Check out Thor Skywalker's 3 videos on the topic.)*
Attachment implies the inability to put others/a greater good above your own feelings, and of course compassion counts as unconditional love, which is essential to a Jedi's life. They had friends and parental figures within the order but no attachment just means don't cling and don't have favorites, and Anakin failing to do this is in my opinion bc Obi wan was unprepared to be a teacher, thusly not helping him understand the Jedi way.

You didn't even mention that one scene where the Wookie mercenary - WHO IS THERE TO KILL HIM - successfully sneaks up on him while he is SLEEPING in his bacta chamber...and pulls him out of the chamber and throws him on the ground. Like, you were never going to get a better kill shot, and this supposedly lethal mercenary just throws Boba Fett around a little instead. Also, I'm sure the wookie's electrified knuckles were supposed to be cool, but don't wookies have CLAWS? And wouldn't those have just been better most of the time?
This may be opinion, but I think the scene would have been a whole lot better - and even scarier - if Boba's bacta tank had had one last perimeter alarm that the Wookie activates, waking Boba at the last moment where he has to fight and dodge for his life. In those circumstances, they could have choreographed the fight so that the Wookie was more clearly trying to kill him, instead of just throw him around a little. If the studio executives were willing, one could easily have Boba taking some claw-related injuries in that fight as well. Being woken in the middle of the night for a sudden life-or-death situation without his armor still could have been an awesome and terrifying scene, IMO.

During the very first episode of "The Book of Boba Fett", I kept watching how much time was left because I was bored to tears lol. It was sad that the only good episodes were the ones with Mando and Grogu. We don't have the full context of those unfinished episodes but as i saw that scene it meant that boba had unrealistic expectations, and he would later mature and not care about that anymore. I can also see the argument that since his father was taken from him that's his motivation but as cool as the unfinished episodes seemed to be it just doesn't make sense with the boba we see in the OT. It just seemed like Filoni wanted his boba to be that honorable again since he didn't get to finish those clone wars episode but the tuskens are such a lazy excuse for it.

Merciless Boba Fett is what I wanted to see. I didn't like the tusken raider based episodes at all. It made Boba Fett look weak and very silly a lot of the time. I'd like to see Boba Fett not get another season but instead be merged into Mando season 3 and get him helping with the Mandalorian questline. I liked the brotherhood aspect created between him and Din where Din didn't need payment to help Boba and how later Din was willing to die alongside Boba because they respect each other and its the right thing to do (this is the way) something that Boba was not raised by but begins to understand its about loyalty and mutual respect all things he wants to find in common criminals but won't. Since both of them are basically clan less now it would be awesome to see them create a new clan or something along those lines (the Mandalorian misfits). Just my two cents and great video!

Start it off with one Boba Fett flashbacta about escaping the Sarlacc and being saved by Tuskens who were then slaughtered, so he rode a bantha until he found Fennec... 5 minute pre-titles scene and we're all caught up, and we cut to Dinn Djarin slicing fuckers with the darksaber and fixing up a Naboo Starfighter on Tatooine, where Boba Fett is looking for who killed the Tuskens.
That's enough right there for them to bump into each other and intertwine their arcs... No need for scooter racers or newly found political aspirations. I never realized how flawed BoBF was until this video. I have to thank you for putting everything into perspective for me. You voiced my subconscious feelings towards this show. I mean, I like it, but there's just an underlying sense of dread I feel while I was watching...
Now lemme add a tidbit. I cannot say with certainty, as it is PURE speculation... but perhaps the MASSIVE writing flaws in this show aren't just from the writers.
As we have seen, Disney as a corporation is a money-hungry beast who want to cram anything with their branding on it down the throats of viewers and fans, regardless of quality. They oftenly do this with Marvel, as we have seen...
Now, Filoni and Favreau have shown us what they can do with Star Wars. Look at The Mandalorian. We all adore that show. We love it because the characters are compelling, the stories are moving and ooze with actual substance and LIFE... that being said; with an entity like Dinsey at your back, breathing down your neck to make em MORE money with no questions asked is bound to lead to writing flaws. I am willing to bet that Disney demanded a spin off with "popular, marketable character Boba Fett" not because the fans wanted it, and not because it was necessary for the world-building and storytelling, BUT because it would give them profits.
For me, the red flags about this went up with all the other spin offs announced after Mando: Ahsoka, Kenobi, Rex (?), Bad Batch, etc etc.
That all being said, this definitely doesn't EXCUSE the bad writing. Hell no. They should've taken more time to proof read, edit, and polish. However, I feel like my tidbit adds more nuance to the situation as a whole. We can only HOPE that Disney and the writers will see the MASSIVE criticism it's getting and get it together to keep Star Wars going strong, and get it back on track.

But man even as an easy guy to satisfy this show barely does anything for the ideas this show wants to convey. This whole show reeks of crunched development and hesitation. What sorta makes me cynical the most is how the idea of a story could be more conveyed.
We should have had an episode about Boba Fett interacting with the citizens of Tatooine and hearing what they have to say instead of just talking to 2D evil crime lords, a moment where we find out why spice is so gosh darn dangerous, the reason why Boba Fett wants to change the living style of Tatooine and a confrontation on what he actually wants to do as a crime lord and him having to prove that he actually wants to fight for people now. For a crime lord show we do not even have stakes on what would happen if Boba Fett fails and gets killed. Why do we care about a random planet being ran with spice? WHAT DOES SPICE DO???
Beyond this show I am just wondering what they can even do with Boba Fett in the first place because they barely even tried developing him having a desire to gain some power. It's like the worst thing you can ever get from a crunched Disney+ storyline. I like The Bad Batch and while there are wasted episodes at the very least I can feel like there is some natural development being given to make me wonder and theorize what could happen next.

Everything you said on the video is spot on. Especially the bit about Luke giving Grogu an ultimatum. It doesn’t even make sense for Luke to follow Galactic Republic-era Jedi philosophy since that’s exactly the whole reason why his father became a Sith Lord? Also, when I binged BOBF, I was confused to see two full episodes on The Mandalorian and Grogu with no connection to whatever’s happening to Boba Fett whatsoever. I would have loved those episodes on Mandalorian S3, now people would have to watch BOBF to understand why Grogu is in S3 of the Mandalorian. I honestly feel like it wasn’t driven by storytelling, it was because they needed to pull casual Mandalorian fans to watch BOBF. So now they’ll have enough numbers to ensure the show does good and that is just fucking sad. Because Boba Fett in Legends was a true badass, more so than Mando. Also sad because Disney Boba seems too tired and old. Like, Disney, redemption arcs only work when you show us how the character gets there. BOBF shows us flashbacks of his time with Tuskens that enslaved him and for some reason he decides to go help them out of the goodness of his heart. Really…the guy who took Empire bounties and worked for Vader wants to save a bunch of savage sand raiders in a backwater planet because…just because?

Attachments do lead to the dark side, that's a fact. The old Jedi would kidnap children and force them not to have attachments. Luke is allowing his students the freedom and cognizance to choose for themselves. He knows that depriving people of their attachments won't make them good Jedi, but also you need to be at peace with your attachments in order to be a good Jedi. If you recall from Return of the Jedi, it was Luke's attachment for Leia and Vader's threat to turn her to the dark side if Luke wouldn't that caused Luke to briefly fall into darkness himself. The lesson about attachments is not that all attachments are fine and there isn't any danger to them at all.

    • @timbirdie8180
      @timbirdie8180 Před 4 měsíci

I agree I think we just needed more time for grogu to show off how unhealthy his attachment is for a Jedi.. at least I know he's a kid but that's the point maybe he should be older.
He either needed no attachments or to slowly be able to leave Mando side and then train.
Since Luke isn't the old Jedi order he should have told grogu he isn't ready yet, it feels like they were making it so Luke wouldn't train him outright due to Ben solo being his first student.
I agree that probably what Luke in universe should be thinking but the dialogue is old galactic republic Jedi.

I am only a casual Star Wars fan at most and this series is the only one I've watched because pop culture has said Boba Fett is the most bad ass character ever! People seem to love the Mandalorian, and I'm a longtime fan of Ming-Na Wen so I was down to give it a try and just couldn't comprehend the hype. Basically for the reasons you outlined here. He is utterly uncompelling which would be fine if the far more interesting supporting players were developed at all. Still, I wouldn't call it terrible. Confused? Sure, but I never regretted watching it. There were still some magical moments. But this series has tempered my expectations for Obi Wan and Ashoka. I have been trying to learn some lore so I won't be completely lost so I hope I come across some material that explains better Boba's ba reputation.

  • @GiantBoarMonster
    @GiantBoarMonster Před 2 lety +25

It's a bit of a mess. I like this Boba aside from him being too much of a goody-two-shoes (a form of weakness tbh), which is a pretty glaring fault of the series. Though I don't mind his sappy love of animals. We can only hope they kind of redeem him in season 2 by making him a morally grey badass again. It's possible. It would help to get there if he loses his position as the self-appointed protector of Tattooine, and perhaps that is the plan, with the hints that either the Mandalorian or Boba will fulfill the Mandalore prophecy (mirroring of the Chosen One prophecy) and become the grand leader.
A lot of fans are tired of Tattooine and I am too, to an extent, but a big reason for it is because they're making a deliberate mirroring between Boba and Vader. I kinda dig that... even though it can be argued it's lazy and derivative of what came before. But there's always been an indication that Boba and Vader are similar to each other, starting with ESB, as there's some kind of respect and understanding between them. Not to mention, the biggest similarity between them is seen in AOTC, where both Anakin and Boba lose their only parent. Then of course in this series, Boba experiences a harrowing rebirth but it redeems him instead of solidifying his bad qualities. But he still needs to be bad, like a proper anti-hero.

Which is tell a good story about Boba Fett. Instead we get an awkward bad story that’s hijacked by Mando a little over halfway through. The fact that they haven’t announced any plans for a season 2 so long after it’s finale is pretty telling when Mando had a season 2 confirmed after the 1st episode aired and a season 3 confirmed halfway through for season 2 airing. The studios been pretty ready to jump the gun on the announcements when it comes to these shows, and now we have complete radio silence once all the criticism started rolling in? Yeah, Season 2 for Fett looking pretty unlikely. Even if it does get another season I don’t want one. Where are they gonna go with it now? They basically pissed away all their options. Boba fett was all on tattoin except the 2 misplaced mandalorian episodes. And obi wan is going to be a lot on tatooin as well I bet.

Being a good two shoes isn't weakness in a character it just isn't fitting for a villian, anti Villian or anti hero at best( idk what role u want for boba I'd pick anti villain if it was me)
A hero can be a goody two shoes, a villian can not they have nobility but have to be ruthless to a certain extent u know.
To me Boba should be an an anti villain
There are the opposite of anti heroes villains with heroic traits to the point it very blurry
And he shouldn't start out that way he should end up that way.
You question his villainy at times like a anti hero due to their noble actions but you know for sure in the grand scheme of things there evil to a degree
Dr.Doom at times is this and at times full Villian
      Wolverine is a anti hero
      Deadpool flip flops between both
And Punisher is a anti hero but if written by super edgyly a anti Villian
Just a evil monster who kills worse monsters.
All these are valid and I agree Boba should be some form of not good boy scout I think noble Villian works.
Way later he can be anti hero proper but for now he should just start developing and I really like him this way.
Old man boba like in retirement could have a anti hero story dealing with a mob boos coming from his family but that's when they kill off the character
      Idk sorry for the rant.
And yes morally gray is where he shines I think he should be dark grey atm but I'd like him to keep his mobility here somewhat. Like the animal but makes a lot of sense to me.

All that while developing the characters in natural ways that solidify them as better men & women through their struggle. Han abandons his past, despite the consequences, and finds a cause that he believes in as well as a family. Luke finds mastery through patience, and gains a father through his virtues.

It made no sense why he all of a sudden had such a change of heart. Maybe he learned the importance of "friendship" from the raiders, but he can still value loyalty while being ruthless. We know even from canon lore, he modified his ship after Jango to have smaller, less comfortable prisoner cells. He froze Solo in carbonite, and even in comics we see him flat out kill an ex-empire general who just wanted to see a recording of his wife, after he didn't have the money to pay in the end. Boba in this show is a joke. I'm hoping they make a second season where they redeem him, but also afraid they will only dig a deeper hole.

I really love this show sure it had some bad parts but we saw him go through an actual character arc. He was a killer then he found a family (the Tuskens) when this family was taken from him he changes his motive. He just wants a family. Throughout the saga people keep telling him he’s just like his father Cad Bane even says this
“You’ve got your fathers blood pumping through your veins.” This show wasn’t about him becoming a leader, it was about him finding a family and proving to people that he can change his fate and be better than Jango. And when he’s in trouble he ignites the killer within not to cause harm but to protect his people. When he’s attacked by assassins he spares them symbolizing that people can change. He doesn’t want to be like other rulers this is shown by his dialogue with fennec. Where she says to him that he should be carried around to show his power and he declines. He faces real struggles with the mayor when he returns the assassin when this approach doesn’t work he becomes the killer we knew him to be. To protect and serve his people. Cad Bane isn’t just a villain but a reflection of his past. And with that he ultimately defeats his past. The show takes his death not as one but as a rebirth and a chance to change.

As someone who does a lot of writing myself, both literature and film, I can safely say that there's a lot of things I write that I just don't know about. For example, I have to write scenes of complicated geopolitics as a person who doesn't know anything about geopolitics. Because I'm an amateur, I can sort of fly by the seat of my pants, and get the bare minimum of realism right. But in the case of this show, I feel like the writers had the same problem - none of them knew anything about criminal organizations - but didn't even try to learn before writing it. They just said "it's... like being the sheriff, I guess", and just moving forward with that idea.
Compound that with the weird pacing and the Mando scenes, where it feels like they were debating whether to make this season 3 of mando, and it really does just seem like they had no clue what they were trying to accomplish.

With Book Of Boba and the sequels I've made up my mind that my head cannon is only what Lucas did, no new Disney stuff. As much as they have succeeded with Clone Wars 7 and Mando I feel that the failure of episodes 7-9 and Boba don't make me want to see any of the new stuff and to leave it at what we were left, what George Lucas left us.

The worst crime of this show is killing my interest in the Mandalorian which is one of my fav shows. I cried so hard when Din let Grogu go and I was so excited for the future but now…Reuniting Din and Grogu completely ruins the amazing finale of season 2, so at this point..I don’t even care about their characters anymore if any random spinoff can completely ruin an amazing experience like that legendary scene. Clearly Disney ruined the storytelling to market Grogu. If Ashoka and Obi Wan are bad, I’m ditching Star Wars for good.

Honestly, I agree with the points you've been making. The only fight scenes that were visually engaging were the ones in the Mando episode. Probably because it was done by someone who can actually direct action, compared to the flat, overcast bs Robert Rodriguez did in Mando season 2 and in this show. It sucks too, because I like Robert Rodriguez. He makes fun movies, but the man just isn't cut out for show running. It sucks that we had to wait over a year for more live action Star Wars and this is what we got. The best moments with Boba were when he murdered an entire swoop gang in a bar fight and said nothing, and when he stabbed Cad Bane in the chest and said nothing.

  • @keithmccall5170

  • @AnakinSkyobiliviator

Honestly, I like the Tusken sequence. Feloni apparently wants to recontextualize the Tuskens as a group of misunderstood salvagea as we saw snippets of in The Mandalorian (alongside making Jawas actually a threat) so this is just more worldbuilding for them. But otherwise, I agree with this review. Yes, Luke demanding Grogu to choose between the othrodox Jedi way and attachment to friends was absolutely out of character, and Grogu returning to Din this quickly invalidated the plot of the last two seasons of Mando and the emotional departure from the end of its second season. And yes, Boba Fett's stupidity is beyond absurd in the show. Why is Boba given the audience proxy treatment to get all these dull, expository dialogue from Fennec on how the criminal underworld work when he literally grew up in it? Even if we were to discount any time he could have learned things from Jango (who this show reveal to be some kind of neglectful dad for whatever reason?)

  • @Mateocabrera2389
    @Mateocabrera2389 Před 2 lety +13
