    It's the sunroof drain outlet fittings that snap into the firewall behind the dash. Their gaskets turn to powder and leak into the carpet padding. Extend the A-pillar hoses and run them into the condensate drain under the passenger carpet using a plastic barbed wye fitting.

      Thanks for the input. Yeah, there are 2 common water leaks for the Infiniti G37 coupe. Sunroof drain and door seal. I suspected it was the sunroof drain first. We tested the sunroof drain by pulling off the a pillar and watching the water flow down the drain hose and out of the vehicle. All sunroof drains were clear and connected on our car. We did more testing with some panels off and every time we ran water around the door gap, water and down the side and onto the floor. I sealed the door gasket with black silicone and it has held up well. No more water is coming into the vehicle and we park our car outside all year long. When our sunroof drain starts leaking, we will definitely use your repair method. Thanks for the tip.

      Yeah, after you remove the A Pilar trim and carpet area, have a helper take a water hose and slowly go around the door trim. Start lower on the door gap and work your way up. When water starts coming in, you should get an idea of where the water is leaking into the cabin. Hopefully you get it fixed soon. The water messed up our power window switches. Good luck. Let me know if you have any questions.

      You should do a water test similar to the one I did in the video. Grab a water hose and have an assistant put the water on your door gap and sunroof. Sit inside and keep an eye on where or when the water comes in. You should be able to see the general area where the water is leaking in. Start low near the door gap and work your way up to the sunroof. Good luck. Get if fixed before you get electrical issues. My power window switch went bad because of the water leak.

      No problem. Glad the video was helpful. The oem replacement door seals are way too expensive. They are around $300 each door seal. Hopefully this repair saves you some money. The repair has held up well for our G37 for about a year now with no more leaks. Thanks for watching.

      Yeah, that would be much easier than the silicone method. The only thing you would have to worry about is the double sided tape/glue that the molding uses to attach to the vehicle.

    I have a g37 coupe and I have the same issue and it’s on both sides it worse on the passenger side but I think my issue is the sunroof seal. I have so much water in the back seat floor it’s like 5 inches l. Can that be the problem or how do I confirm that the sunroof seal is the issue

    • @DIYwithDUY
      @DIYwithDUY  Před rokem

      Your best bet is to check the sunroof drains first. It’s a little easier to check the sunroof than the door seal. Make sure the sunroof tubes are all connected. Pour a little bit of water into each corner of your sunroof and make sure it drains correctly. If it drains correctly, check both door seals. If there is a lot of water in your car, you might have both the sunroof and door seal leak. Make sure you fix the leak as soon as possible. The water can mess up a lot of electronics in the vehicle. Use a good waterproof car cover until you fix the leak.

      @@DIYwithDUY the water is coming from under the steering column and its coming from under the glove box on the passage side no water what so ever near the door or the seal it’s bone dry. I have a lot of water in the back floor then the front. Maybe the water sits in the lowest spot idk.there’s one guy who cut the drain tube that runs thru the A pillar and connected it with a hose and linked it with the ac condensation hose on the passenger floor and also connected the driver side with a t fitting and it all drains from the ac tube. Do you think that’s smart? Because it’s really difficult to access the drain seal it’s very difficult you need to remove the whole dash. I seen people do it with out removing the dash but why do all that when I can just run it like the guy I watched did it.

    • @DIYwithDUY
      @DIYwithDUY  Před rokem +1

      Yes, That method sounds better than how our cars came from the factory. We know the factory sunroof drains are a terrible design and most owners run into this issue where the factory drain gets disconnected or clogged. After you fix the leak, buy something called “Damp rid”. It’s a bag that absorbs moisture and will get most of the water out of the inside of your car. I hung the bag on the back of the headrest for a week and it soaked up most of the remaining moisture.

      Yeah, Infiniti needs to change the design of these upper door moldings. This can lead to a lot of electrical and rust issues if left unfixed.

    Are you leaving a small gap between seal and interior of car with tape for adhesive? Its hard to tell from video.

    • @DIYwithDUY
      @DIYwithDUY  Před 5 měsíci

      Yes, you are correct. I used the masking tape to create a new straight black silicone line. The gap is only approximately 2 mm thick and seals the door seal and the interior grey molding together. This helps stop water from coming into the vehicle. It has been working great and we still do not have leaks. Let me know if you have any other questions.

      I left the door open overnight and parked the car in a garage for 12 hours. Make sure your interior lights are off so it does not drain your battery.

      Yeah, thats how it was on my driver side door. The water leaked through the door seal and down the tweeter. Some of the water started damaging my door lock/ window switches. Make sure you fix the leak before it starts damaging more things in the car.
