  • So After having this lens for 6 months I can honestly say for the price, if you need something for wide angle shots ( #realestatephotography #astrophotography #landscapephotography #architecturephotography ) this lens is a great option for Canon, Sony or Nikon. Anything with an APS-C crop will put this in the focal range of about 15mm-16mm

    The detachable hood is the 8mm 3.5 samyang/rokinon

      Kinda hard to understand what you’re talking about at this point? The 8mm fisheye lens which I’ve done a review on has a detachable lens hood, this lens has a fixed lens hood, what are you getting at?

    I have the Canon M50 with a Laowa 9mm f/2.8 lens, and it's been a very good setup for shooting real estate. I recently ordered the Viltrox speed booster, on their website, they said some of the 3rd party lens fit. So I'm waiting for it to arrive to see that it does. I definitely can use another stop of light, in this case it will be f/2.0 and instead of the 13.5mm full frame equivalent, it will be around 11mm, ultra wide even by real estate standards.
    If this doesn't work, then I might get the Canon R50 with the Laowa 9mm f/2.8 RF mount lens.

      If it works for Canon EF than you shouldn’t have any issue adapting it, alternatively I believe that would apply in your situation as the Viltrox Speedbooster I had for my BMPCC4K was able to adapt the Rokinon 10mm, the Viltrox does not work with EF-S lenses ( Little White Square on the Lens Body mounting point, EF mounting point is marked with a Red Dot)

      @@JordanHandwerker This should negate the need to upgrade to the R50 or even the R10. Both have 6K that's down sampled to 4k making it look amazingly clear and sharp. My real estate videos weren't as sharp as I would like, so I bumped the sharpness up to 4-5 on the neutral picture profile, and it has made all the difference in getting a better result for the client. It's good for now and will be even better with the Viltrox speed booster, but time will tell.

    • @JordanHandwerker
      @JordanHandwerker  Před 10 měsíci +1

      @JeepTJWheelin well once you upgrade to the RF mount you’ll get sharper images with the RF glass, EF glass is good but I’m not sure what canon has done with the RF lineup, but it’s hella sharp

    • @JeepTJWheelin
      @JeepTJWheelin Před 10 měsíci

      @@JordanHandwerker Yeah I'll sell the M50, Laowa 9mm ef lens and the speed booster before the real estate market picks up again around Easter. I know with any improvements, it'll never be as good as the R50 with the Laowa 9mm RF glass and the better technology of that R50.

    • @JordanHandwerker
      @JordanHandwerker  Před 10 měsíci

      I mean I guess it all depends on your budget, if you’re doing Real Estate photography I would focus on going Full Frame if possible, the older R and RP are great and their price points aren’t too far off from the R50, plus you can still adapt your older EF glass.

  • @sambanksbankseditingphotoa3088

    do you have any pics or footage with the 10mm rokinon that isn't edited in post? The shot you had of the bedroom, was that edited to remove distortion? Or when you say that there is distortion do you mean that there's minimal distortion?

    • @JordanHandwerker
      @JordanHandwerker  Před 3 lety +1

      The Video of the room was only color corrected, there was no distortion correction added to that, the Distortion correction only applies to Photos🙌🏻 if you are extremely close to a wall or sharp angle in videos you may notice some distortion if that makes sense🤔

    • @sambanksbankseditingphotoa3088
      @sambanksbankseditingphotoa3088 Před 3 lety

      @@JordanHandwerker makes 100% sense. is it a lot of distortion or is it minimal for the photos? Also I'm shooting with a t4i so it's a "large" sensor but not a full sensor so will my quality still be okay with this lens? I'm trying to go for as wide of an angle as I can with out there being distortion so that I can get the full room.

    • @JordanHandwerker
      @JordanHandwerker  Před 3 lety

      There will be distortion in photos, like I stated if you’re close to walls or sharp angles you’ll notice it. Unless you buy a Zero Distortion lens you’ll get distortion with 90% of wide angle lenses... that being said it’s easily correctable in Lightroom with a lens profile correction

    • @JordanHandwerker
      @JordanHandwerker  Před 4 měsíci

      @CallMeRabbitzUSVI well this is a crop sensor lens, so you’d only be able to shoot at 16mm on a Canon APS-C, I use a Laowa 14mm and Realtors like that over the 16mm

      It does have its weaknesses unfortunately I still think it’s a pretty good lens myself I mean I’ve used it for landscape photography and real estate photography and I haven’t been disappointed... I know when focusing to infinity it’s not accurate but I just take that into account... use your live view mode to help gain critical focus 💪🏻

      When you say "lack of focus" do you mean because it doesnt have auto focus or is something wrong with the manual focus ring? I run a laowa full manual lens already so manual doesnt bother me but looking for a secondary lens and was hoping the Rokinon would be the winner. Thanks,

      It depends on what you’re using it for to be honest 🤔 I think if you’re shooting with smaller Apertures ( f/5.6 - f/11) you should be okay if you’re using it for real estate that is. F/2.8 is soft in the corners. But at that same token it’s great for Astrophotography. I use live view and get focus that way
