    Apartment hunting in NYC 2021! For some perspective on these higher rent prices... go check out my IG story. I posted a photo of one of my first rentals in NYC...a 250 sf studio in the UES I was paying $1,200 / month for. Enjoy the video!

    I think it’s interesting you decided to move out of the current place because it costs too much, but you’re second and third place were similarly priced. It makes me think you just want a new place to build new memories without Hanna. If that is the case, I understand. My younger sister just passed away suddenly in Oct. We were roommates, and that makes living in the place we shared difficult. I’m saving up to move as soon as possible. I’m actually going to move from Springfield, MO to Phoenix, AZ for work. I’m going to be buying a place, so this video gave me some good things to consider. My budget is way lower though, like $100k-$200k. Lol.
    In regards to apartments, I liked the first one best. I liked the fourth one, too. But you seemed to love the second place. Although, I agree - hanging lights were odd. I feel like that will be the one you choose. I also think it would be good to check out other places besides these four.

      @karaygeoushearts Před 3 lety +3

      @@michelletaylor4298 Thank you. I miss Danikka so much. I know I will carry that with me always. I had originally planned to move to Colorado Springs because it’s a big tech and insurance city, but my parents want to move somewhere drier and warmer. My best friend just moved to Phoenix last year. It seems like the perfect place for us. I currently work from home for Progressive, and they have a physical branch in Phoenix, so it would be a great place for me as well, if I want to move up the ranks. I’ve received some of my sister’s life insurance money, so I’m going to use it to for a down payment for a place. My parents are planning to sell their house and buy a place in Phoenix, too. The cost of housing is a bit of a shock compared to the Midwest, but that’s the cost for the increase in opportunities.

The price is great. #2 certainly has fantastic kitchen space and appliances....the over all space is very retro loft concept. #3 is very hap hazard, the kitchen looks like it was thrown together.

    You were right about checking apartments at different times. I heard a story about a couple who bought an apartment in Red Hook. They paid nearly 6 figures for the place. They did not check the area first. After moving they found that the neighbor across the street was a milk distributor. Of course that meant they worked from around midnight till midmorning.

    I like Apartment 4. Not only is the rent the cheapest, but there is a lot of space and natural light. The kitchen and bathroom are all new, which is a plus. And that outdoor space + tall ceilings + in apartment laundry = perfect.
    I also (surprisingly) like the loft. I think it could be used in many different ways - office, guest bedroom, storage, etc.

    Every time when I see someone living in a big Appartement/house or with lots of furniture, how do they clean the place and does it collect dust? I have to clean my room once a week, wiping down dust and vacuum to keep it clean. Or do you just have a cleaner come to your place?

  • @adastra79
    @adastra79 Před 3 lety +2

    My advice is neither of them. First one of you really have to choose. I don’t know why you are moving, but your current place seems like a fantastic find for that price point. Do you really need to continue spending this much money for a clone of your current place? My suggestion cut your budget in half and get a smaller place. Smaller places are much easier to maintain. Theo might not be as happy but it gives you an incentive to take him for more walks. Also, why not consider other boroughs? Yeah, Manhattan is cool, no doubt, but from what I understand you can get a much better place for half the price in, say, Brooklyn. Don’t throw money to the wind. Pretty sure you will move at least a dozen times before you finally settle down in a retirement home
    Edit: typo
