    I am 22 years old now and I am experiencing it ever since I'm a kid. I always went home when I had a migraine at school. It's really awful! Especially if you have plans and you need to cancel it because of the pain. Aside from that, no one understands me. I never met a person in my whole life who experience it like me. I'm glad that I read the comments here. Now I don't feel alone anymore

      -exposure to light/sunlight
      -dehydrated
      -empty stomach (not sure)

    For all of you who have migraine with aura demand a cardiac ultra sound with bubble study. Saline vial is agitated creating bubbles & pushed through via an IV in your arm. They follow the bubble path through the heart to determine if blood is flowing in the correct path. My aura & migraine was the result of a PFO (we’re all born with this door between heart chambers - at birth it should shut & lock) being open and shunting blood from right to left (wrong way) through the heart. Check your oxygen saturated rate with a pulse ox too. Migraines with aura eventually may be a precursor to stroke. The Cleveland Clinic specializes in this amplatzer device closure. Recovery is swift because the surgery is performed through femoral arteries in the legs. Hospital stay was 24 hours. Gave me my life back. Fortunate to not have found the defect as a result of a stroke or during an autopsy. I had migraines from the age of 13 yrs old. Hope this saves or helps some of you. FYI many specialists missed this diagnosis. It wasn’t discovered until 61 yrs old.

    I had headaches when I was a kid, they went away and I had no issues until adulthood when I was hit by 240 working on an AC around 5-6 years ago and have been suffering these symptoms ever since. I saw a cardiologist and optometrist and of course a comp doctor who all dismissed the symptoms I had then and still have. Floaters appeared pretty much immediately after and tingling and numbness in hands or feet and sometimes limbs persist still at times . Usually on the same side of where the shock occurred. When visual aura’s occur it’s in the left eye. The optometrist said it was just birth cataracts that cause the Symptoms and the comp doctor blamed aging. The symptoms are becoming worse as time passes and I sometimes feel I no longer think, care or feel the same as prior. Neurologically I come back with positive results just like with cardiopulmonary tests. I’m at a loss of where to turn! Migraines are costly seeking answers and you always get stroke or heart attack treatment going to the ER. Symptoms are similar but no one ever checks the EMR for the history of the patients. It’s all about money and pushing people out the door to open the bed for the next guy. Test after test med after med with no cures and no real answers. The system is broken!

      @s.k.7325 Před 5 lety +7

      Jordan Smith > It's okay. The first couple of times you have the aura symptoms, it's scary--trust me. However, you just have to tell yourself it's part of the migraine beginning. I was driving when I had my first one, thought I was just tired. However, my vision in my right eye slowly started to fade. Of course, I panicked--hard. I was pacing back and forth wondering what the hell was happening and what was I simply going to do. All those fears of losing my vision, going blind, and never being able to see again came up in my head. The aura slowly went away after about an hour or so, and I was hit with the headache. Think of them all as warning signs--red flags for headache preparation. If you experience migraines frequently, you may want to discuss with a doctor possible medications or trigger reductions to feel better. But, if you are left with one thing out of this long-ass paragraph, just know that the auras can't harm you--you aren't going to go blind.

    I always go through all mentioned phases - it's when I feel to want to die, that's how unbearably bad it gets. Most often no medication helps at all, sometimes L-Tryptophan and Ibuprofen cure it entirely within half an hour, but not always. My long term curing plan is a diet, minimum added sugar, alcohol, processed foods and overeating in general plus psychotherapy. In the recent years of doing all that migraines are much rarer and easier to handle, but still can happen.
    Tried massages, antidepressants, acupuncture, various vessel treatments - no success for me.

    • @grimslade0
      @grimslade0 Před 4 lety +2

      Hey. I'm sorry to hear your struggle, I feel similarly. After seeing you mention L-Tryptophan, I thought I should throw in my experience with the similar supplement 5-htp. Not sure if you've tried it, but I find regular usage (a few times a week or more) prevents migraines almost entirely. I usually don't think think 5-htp is helping, but when I run out the attacks begin again usually within about a week. Obviously your mileage may vary but thought I should share.
      Also, I personally find paracetamol to be more effective than ibuprofen. Especially when mixed together.
      And to be honest the most effective pain killers in general are opioids, examples of fairly safe ones are codeine and kratom. Though... A lot of people have convictions against opioid use and that's understandable given their abuse potential. Though if you feel like you want to die as you put it :( it might just be worth the negative side effects anyway... Definitely discuss with a doctor before deciding however.
      But getting back to my main point, give 5-htp and paracetamol (with ibuprofen if you're inclined) a try if you haven't already :) that's commonly reported as a more effective combination; myself included.

Drinking water made me puke, heck even when I haven't got anything in my stomach, my body still wanted to heave when I stood up and walked.
    One thing that sorta works in alleviating it is when I get the aura, i lay on my right side and block my eyes so it's all darkness. Then I just lay awake eyes closed 'til it disappears. I usually avoid the headache with that but sometimes it doesn't work so I just power through the pain :') Sleeping helps and lotsa water after the headache.

    The truly worst thing about migraine auras is that I am constantly paranoid that any vision disturbance (like a blackspot from looking at a light), my limbs getting a little numb, etc. is another attack happening. My migraines are pretty rare compared to other people from comments (months or sometimes years), but the "wait" for the next one is what makes it the worst, especially if I haven't had one in a while.

    I’ve had all of these, or similar my whole life but never knew what they were because I don’t have the migraine, just the odd sensations like half my tongue being numb, tingling hands and visual auras. I really like the visual stuff because as an artist I just find them interesting or pretty. Afterward I’m disappointed they stopped. Part of me is shouting “again!”. Kinda like being on an amusement ride.

    Just in case this mite help, I've had aura migraines on and off for a few years now and recently have discovered that if I exercise/workout when I get it or even after getting it that working out helps me to rid the annoying after effects quicker.. Usually the aura comes on gets higher and bigger lasts for about 15 - 30 mins then the aura goes away and then I have pain between my eyes and a ugly feeling in my stomach for the rest of the day, and usually it ruins my day but now after I said stuff it I'm not gonna stop my day cause if it I'll do a workout and I feel better, not sure why, maybe cause it gets the blood flowing or endorphins or increase mitochondria.. Now in terms of triggers for the aura I'm not quiet sure I've but of recent times I'll write down when it's comes on and what I had done as in, looked at the phone for too long or bright lights like fluorescent lights mite be a trigger or sometimes I've noticed come in when I've had foods like oats/nuts/seeds, not all the time but often when I consume those kinds of foods and maybe from sulphites in those foods..

Daily 250 mg Magnesium supplements have reduced my Auras dramatically. Instead of getting them 3-4 times a week, I now get them maybe once or twice a month. Mine is not exactly the same, but every time it starts with a spot, where I cannot see anything for minutes. Sometimes it's crazy: you look into a face, and suddenly there is no nose. You read a book, and suddenly some letters are missing. A colourful "zig zag line" will frame the spot later, then you know: Aura! It will "grow" into a big C, for 45 min, then the headache is there. It could happen twice, three times, four times a day, you never know. Headache is increasing in spite of ASS or Ibuprofen. I cannot see, and I often feel dazed, so I can't go anywhere by car, because I might not be able to drive back home.
      I sometimes wake up with an aura, too.
      I tried almost everything the last 40 years, now I only take medication against the pain - as quick as possible when the aura begins.
      I do relaxation exercises. Sometimes it seems to reduce the number of attack per month - sometimes not. But it's good for me anyway, so I continue.
