    I like the VT "Steve Harris" setting better than the actual Steve Harris pedal, it has a nice layer of lows to it

      The VT does sound "deeper" in that sense, but you can still boost the lower end on the SH1

    Funny enough, I like the sound better with the VT DI as you had it with the first emulation, before you lowered the "lows", I just like that thundery sound on the VT DI a little bit more to fill up the space. I will copy the VT setting and test in my VT DI. Cheers and thanks!!

    Awesome video Oliver, shows me I don't need another pedal when my VT Bass will do the same thing. Now I wonder how close it can get to the Dug Pinnick?

    • @OliverTobyn
      @OliverTobyn  Před 3 lety

      Thanks! Yeah they can be quite similar, though there are slight differences in my opinion. The Dug Pinnick is an entirely different ball game, maybe the SH1 can get close to it in some cases, but it's quite different

    I just got the SH-1, but I still have the SansAmp Bas Driver as well, OK and the YYZ Pedal and the DP3X, so yea I got issues, but anyway. I combine the Sh-1 and the bass driver to get the added lows, But I love having the SH-1 to be able to switch on to when I want that tone, then go back to the SansAmp for the normal Cleans. so it works well with both.

  • @NtWarlock
    @NtWarlock Před 3 lety

    Finally!
    Sembrano abbastanza simili (però mi ascolterò questo video più volte)
    Ci sono un paio di cose che mi chiedo: nel primo test non fai il confronto A/B attivando e disattivando i perali, quindi il suono passa in entrambi i pedali contemporaneamente? E come mai il Bite dell SH1 alza così tanto io volume?

    • @OliverTobyn
      @OliverTobyn  Před 3 lety

      Per certe cose sono abbastanza simili, ma diverse su altre. All'inizio ho regolato i pedali in modo tale che tenendoli accesi non cambiasse il suono, quindi è totalmente flat, l'influenza dei pedali è davvero minimo in quel caso.
      Il bite da un bel boost alle alte, a orecchio direi sui 4-5 kHz. Da l'impressione che vengano tagliate le basse ma semplicemente vengono percepite di meno, anche il volume rimane invariato

    • @NtWarlock

      @@OliverTobyn
      Sì alla fine questi pedali sono leggermente diversi, ma sostanzialmente equivalenti
      A proposito del bite, mi chiedevo che frequenze boostsse/tagliasse, ma sul manuale non c'è scritto. Avrei voluto sapere se corrispondeva al bright della testata hiwatt nca 108, perché le altre frequenze, tranne i mids 2, corrispondono. Peccato non lo abbiano scritto.
      Del bright della testata si sa questo: "Selettore Bright: attenuazione 6 dB/oct da 50 Hz ed esaltazione alti +3 dB. livello generale."

      Azzo non sapevo di questi ampli. Io nelle varie foto e video ho sempre visto copie della testata hiwatt, a parte la trace elliot che avrà usato negli anni 90.

    A mio parere il VT Bass Direct I. suona meglio (per i miei gusti). Sostanzialmente permette, secondo me, di impattare sulle frequenze in maniera più marcata rispetto all'altro pedale, corrispondendo un bel suono adatto a suonare gli Irons, ma comunque molto versatile.

      I have both pedals. The bite switch on the Steve Harris is extreme, but very helpful to get fat overdriven sounds kind of like Geezer Butler, Jack Bruce or even Lemmy. You can "tame" the bite switch with lowering the Treble, and boosting Lows and Low Mids. I love the 4 band EQ that the SH-1 offers, the first Tech21 pedal that has that feature. Playing an Gallien Krueger 800RB head in the 80s I am very much used to that 4 band set up. Also I love that you have everything (2 channels, Tuner) in one small unit with the SH-1. The only thing I miss is a headphone out.
