Crazy. I live in San Antonio and my 80 year old grandpa had this disease 5 months ago. I have never seen someone decline so quickly in a single day. He had fallen and his eyes were glassy, he had a fever, and worst of all was his mind. He blankly stared at the wall and said nothing. He only answered yes or no questions. And I had to shower him because he kept pooping himself. I thought surely he had to have a concussion and that was causing this childlike behavior. After running all of the tests, it came down to Flea Typhus and their puppies had fleas. Now, he's back to his usual smartass self and his mind is returned.
Unimaginable! That poor guy. I'd better be careful with our fifteen cats and one dog. Sending best wishes to this positive man. Nature reigns supreme in the end.
Interestingly, you can get bit by a flea by being outside, no pets necessary__where do people think fleas come from? 😛 However, you're right__people don't think when stuff like this come out in the news. 😢
That's exactly what this story was told for...so ppl start getting rid of their animals. Too much of this story doesn't add up. Gee...u think the NEWS woukd bs ppl???🙄
Lord Jesus, we pray that someone wonderful and positive come from this ordeal for this young man. Lord, keep him healthy and safe. In Jesus' name we pray.
New fear unlocked. Years of fighting and spending endlessly against our neighbors who feed feral cats skunks coons possums squirrels and never get anything veterinary care or preventatives in their overgrown from ground to pulling on our overhead power lines creeping across into our property back yard . Including the tiny dog I once returned to them after it ran onto my covered porch to attack my dog and I saw the poor horribly neglected thing was matted and covered in ticks and fleas….I’m definitely concerned my heart goes out to him and his family. What an incredibly strong and persevering man. I wish him only ease and grit during his creation of living this new life.
This happened to me back in February 2020. Doctors thought it was COVID-19 but it wasn’t because I came out negative 4 times. They thought it was meningitis or malaria. They took out spinal fluid and blood to check for any diseases and were never able to find it. Doctors took about 1 week to detect what was wrong with me. Typhus could be challenging for doctors to detect. Symptoms lasted me for 4 weeks. I remember getting bit by a flea 2 weeks before the symptoms started but I never thought anything of it because I had gotten bitten before (I used to live in an area surrounded by stray cats). Chills started as my first symptoms, then the next day it was fevers. I was able to control fevers by taking Tylenol and Ibuprofen. After 1 week, fevers never stopped and medication seemed not to help anymore, mind you, my highest fever was of 105. I got to the hospital and they couldn’t find nothing. After a week of being in the hospital the doctor said “It’s just Typhus”. Excuse me but it’s not JUST. It’s literally a disease that lasts a long time and it sucks. After leaving the hospital, I still had symptoms. I had to lay down ALL day EVERY day for a whole week because every time I would stand up and walk, my head would start hurting. It wouldn’t hurt when I would lay down though. It sucked. I had to rush to the toilet and rush in the showers too. Horrible experience. What sucks is that there’s nothing a human can use to repel these bugs that are impossible to kill with a clap.
What a devastating card to be dealt! I pray Lord Jesus Christ becomes the focus of this mans life & he finds the Peace, Love & Joy that ONLY God can supply🙏🙏🙏
Maybe he had an undiagnosed immune deficiency? I'm chronically ill & notice things such as that he looks pale & fatigued in most pics pre-illness. I love animals & my fam's pets much. Sorry he's experiencing this!
They will never say because the PET INDUSTRY is a multi-billion dollar industry and they have to sell those pets. Fleas. Where there are dogs, there are fleas. All of these animals (pets) in communal housing spaces may very well become the death of a lot of people, or the cause of a lot of unnecessary differing. People are dragging these INSIDE RESTAURANTS now under the pretense of the convenient catch phrase: “It’s a service animal.” Where there are animals there are ticks, fleas, mosquitos…etc. I am not surprised.

I’ve seen this. So I’m wondering if we have the full story here. And if the drug caused this. This is tragic regardless.
I would think that would be more likely. Hospitals are notorious for not giving the whole story when they know good and well it wasn't the typhus that caused the septic shock. Instances of septic shock with typhus are so rare, and for him to not even have a rash, really makes me wonder. I hope his family will hire a medical investigator and just double-check that it wasn't the treatment (or mistreatment) that caused him to lose his hands and toes. That poor guy! That's so sad! 😢 I'm suddenly appreciating that my cats roll in dust to keep fleas away. I don't know why they know to do that. They just do.
Pets should be indoor pets only. Your cat should NEVER be let outside just to roam around, get infested with who knows what, hit by a car, poisened by some a hole who gets off on that type of stuff etc. and then you let them back into your house to bring in all kinds of nasty stuff. Same thing with your dog. Why do people even have dogs if they are just going to chain them up outside and ignore them. I understand you have to let your dog outside to go to the bathroom and walk play and exercise. Thats why you have flea collars and flea and tick medication. When you bring a new pet into your home you should always have them checked out by a vet to make sure they are healthy and free of ticks fleas and heartworm etc. It might cost you some money but if you cant fork out a few bucks to insure your pet and family are safe and healthy then you shouldnt have a pet cuz pets cost money. Same as having kids. They cost money. They require time love and attention. So sorry for this man and his family. Not saying that he is at fault for anything. Who knows how he got the flea bite. Could be he was innocently walking in his backyard and got bit. Squirrels racoons etc can have fleas too. They can be in your yard. My vet told me they can hitch a ride on your clothes and come into your house.

No, it came from the dog(s) - an overpopulation of dogs in the communities. Neighborhoods now smell like urine. The sidewalks in some communities reek from the stench of urine. Sometimes you have to walk through swarms of fleas. It is out of control. Every other person is dragging around a dog or three convinced they are emotionally unstable just to bring the dog inside the grocery store, on the planes, in the hospitals, and inside restaurants - never mind the rights of other people. There is zero accountability. No one is allowed to say anything. Not only are they making a mockery of real disabled people, they are creating an unsafe pest infestation. God forbid that this problem continues to manifest and spread. Ching, Ching!!! More sickness, more disease, more meds, and more money. Oh well…
