Who am I?
Expert singing teacher, specialising in teaching children and young adults in singing and musical theatre. She has worked with the likes of The Saturdays for MTV, on shows such as Just the Two of Us for the BBC and many more. Throughout her years of teaching she has judged in many competitions, judging Lucy Spraggan, George Samson, amongst others who have gone onto succeed in the business.
I am the founder of Vocaltutor, (founded 2003) the UK’s largest vocal and singing tuition network and now The New Foundry Studios which opened in 2013.

Mori covers Leona's songs ( A moment like this, Bleeding love, You are the reason ) so I am sure she looks up to her. And Leona would certainly appreciate Mori as a singer.

Leona DEFINITELY killed it in those Headvoice/Falsettos and Morisette DEFINITELY killed it in Belts. Low notes, both of them are equal. So, I feel like it's a tie for me!

Disclaimer: I'm a Mori fan. So I'm a bit biased I'm not ashamed to say. But Leona is also a very good vocalist. A collab between the 2 would be good 😍🎶
Leona has better overall warmer rounder tone. You just recognize when she is the one singing even without looking but technique is not about that I guess. Mori definitely did better at high belts just like many Filipino belters like Regine Velasquez etc. Plus Mori can whistle, not included here.

Wouldn’t say I’m a fan of either but Leona stood out more to me. She has quite a unique tone when she sings, like I can tell it’s her when she was on radio back then. maybe it’s her brit heritage. Very sweet and emotive too!

Well, 1st of all you cannot belt with riffs and runs and yet still sounded good if you don't have a good technique which I see more to Morissette's.

I don’t know the dates of the clips here… But I have heard in the last several years that Leona has had vocal problems due to an illness. Keep that in mind before putting her under anyone in terms of comparison.

As if Morissette is not agile. Take at their age gap Leona is 35 and Morissette is 24 not yet she reach her prime that means Morissette has still room for improvement yet she still won over Leona. I hate comparing Artists because each and everyone of them is unique. They work hard to improve themselves just to give us entertainment. We should learn to appreciate them. ✌

I was a Leona fan first before I became a Mori fan but technique wise it’s gotta be Morissette hands down. Many of the clips they chose for Mori here are far from what she can actually do - especially in her latest videos. We didn’t even went higher here, Mori could have kept going to the highest whistle notes!! Having said that, Leona to me will always have the best tones of a female singer. This was just for fun, these ladies will always be up there in my list. :)
Both mori and Leona are incredible singers and both can riff and transition effortlessly!

I think Mori has better technique in the E5 and up generally. But when Leona has the right placement on her upper belts her voice just shines. I just wish Leona didnt have thyroid issues her voice would be even more powerful now.

Mori any day and twice on Sundays. Range, genres/versatility, emotions, and currency (compare their "You Are the Reason" duet renditions to see what I mean), and not to mention vocal pyrotechnics (whistles, growls, squeaks, etc)

Morisette wins for technique that’s it... there’s so much more to being a great singer than technique. Morisette’s voice lacks anything distinctive or memorable. And she lacks real emotion when she sings because she’s showing off all the time, this trait is quite common in Korean singers.

Morissette Amon for me is the Best Female Singer today 👑😍🇵🇭 her vocal ability, technique is so amazing.... she has clear beautiful tone, clear dictions and words pronunciations and put emotions of the song while she sings😍❤️❤️ Mori voice is strong, constant, breath support is her.... Leona voice is weak at some point...
She’s good but she lacks the ability to capture your full attention, she just seems a bit too bland and repetitive.

In one of Musical Director Adonis Tabanda's videos on Mori, he mentions that Mori approaches her songs as if it her last performance, regardless i guess of venue ! That is why she delivers time and time again !

I've seen vids and live shows of vocalists of the old and new gen singers. As a vocal critic I've seen some has the Technique and vocal quality but only few has the S+ rate. 90's gen Vocal Superior Mariah/Whitney, others have the technique but is only common for a singer to have. And now new rising singers with out of this world ace card(monstrous voice). New gen Vocal Monster i'd go Mori.
This was such a fun video. Mori is currently my fave singer in the world but I adore Leona and her absolutely gorgeous tone. It's a win win for us the listeners.
Leona Lewis voice has it's own character and can easily be distinguished.
I could hear Leona's voice from hundreds of voice, so unique.
The truth is that Leona and Mori got different thing.
Leona's supported belt is so limited (E5 should be her max) and Mori got a higher max (A5 maybe). So Mori wins the belt battle.
However, Leona's head voice is obviously greater and higher. If the headnote battle keeps going further (till E6) , Leona should win in this vocal battle.
I think mori is better but i prefer leona, she has one of the most beautiful tones ever

You can't judge Mori's voice with just this video alone. Check her vocal compilations of her very low notes and super high notes. Her dark tone and light tone.
Versatile, singing in 3 different languages, she can rap, sitting down while singing. Morissete edges the win, IMO.
Mori is good techniqually, but the beauty of Leona's tone is unmatched. Leona's voice is what you hear when you go to heaven.

I’m so jealous of both these ladies!!! I mean it’s very hard to compare these two vocal beasts. But overall I think Morissette is a tiny bit better vocally, with her power, her resonance, her range, her versatility and the flexibility she has in her voice. She has really proven all of that this year with all her live performances from home, she eats everyone up with her voice. She’s only gotten better since the clips in this video. From the lows to the highs and everything in between, the belts and all the riffs and runs, her agility and perfect resonance. But Leona do has a more distinctive tone to her voice and it is so so beautiful, so rich and warm and I love it. They both have great control of their voices and their voices are so powerful. They are awesome!
Versitality wise I go for Mori but they are both great singer they have there own styles.
Leona's voice is much more signature and distinctive, love the delicate layers and textures. Not to take anything away from Morissette, who is also immensely talented. However, Leona for me.
I enjoyed the video because as a fan I get the chills when Morissette sings notes that objectively are not the better and yet mori would give me the goosebumps. I think overall none vocalist fans will probably like a voice and any note that voice does will sound better, within reason.
I miss leona at her prime.
