The question is not so much why Federal Firefighters have to work so many shifts. The real question is why the Federal Government and especially the DOD can not Keep Firefighters? The Federal Government hires many good motivated people who want to be Federal Firefighters, but compared to what cities pay, Federal Firefighters pay earn only half
I don't understand why that's not an option, DCs know the ship and it's fire fighting equipment onboard the skin of the ship better than civilian fire fighters bar none.
It’s literally gotta be a corruption component regarding a contract. The navy could easily toss the contractors and use rates that currently do the job. Let’s not pretend that during these 24 hour shifts they mention there not napping and fucking off. These contractors are in no way shape or form putting in the same hours as sailors.
