Well... Brazil has tons of german speakers because in the 1800s there where a lot of germans( also italians,Portuguese and spanish) who imigraded to Brazil( because they where cheap labor and the government wanted to make the country "more white skined").
The Brazilians with german ancestry are mainly found in the south specialty in the estate of Rio Grande do Sul, and its basically a minature Germany there.
    Also the no-no germans.

This idea of Brazil getting Europeans to whitenize the country, it’s only particularly true, it’s true that once the country ended up slavery, they had to be faced to the problem that more than 50% of the country was black or pardo (black + white + indian), and so whiting the country would be a desirable thing, it’s also true that in 1888 when the slavery ended, only 770 mil people were still slaves, less than 5%, so Brazilians were already used to the fact to living among free blacks and pardos. The fact that they decided to import Japanese and not only Europeans only prooves they they focus wasn’t enough on whiting the country but into getting more workers for the booming economy during the coffee times

6:36 This one didn't work as well because they really made it obvious with the omurice and Japanese curry. Like they're so distinctive. Even looking at the fried cutlet and the hamburg steak they're just made the Japanese way. I'm French and I know very well this ain't how we cook cutlets. Only the last two could give you some doubt as to their provenance.
You could go to Japan as a tourist, go to one restaurant and you literally eat the exact food in the picture (even better looking I'd argue).

When it comes to actual maps of the Holy Roman Empire, we always have to consider that it was actually much WORSE. These Maps are representations of "dominant influence" of certain nobility. That does not mean that these were borders of actual states in the sense of nations we have today, or even dukedoms or something. Within these HRE "marked territories", we have a conglomerate of rights concerning every field, windmill, river, dwelling, cottage etc. which could on these Maps be represented for example as "Habsburgian", but if you dig into the documents you could discover that in this territory a 1/3 may belong to another nobel family, it is just represented as "Habsburgian" on the map because some more of the accumulated "rights" were held by a Habsburgian nobility (as a certain time and age, which could vary depending on marriages and death from day to day)

There is a bit of a trick with Portugal not being hated by all its former colonies. They are a really small country and they never had the population to run these colonies, they mostly got on decent terms with parts of the native population and made these guys do the heavy work. Favorable trade, military assistance in local conflicts and a generous dose of corruption was enough to have people want to be a part of the portuguese empire. The fact the portuguese had some of the earliest trade routes to everywhere which also made them into the first worldwide disease vectors since migrating birds causing mass epidemics that eliminated way more natives than they could ever kill by shooting was a small contributing factor.
